D&D is a PvE game, and so is DDO. The PvP is pretty much limited to bar fights contained in special 'brawling rooms' in the taverns. No PvP rewards, no favor, it's just a diversion for fun, if you're into that.

Yep, PVP is purely a meaningless...but fun...thing to do in DDO.  Euro servers are apparently in pretty good shape, Dr. Rock plays on them, hopefully he'll chime in

There are three forms of PvP in DDO:

Tavern Brawls - essentialy a room within a tavern that you can walk into at any time and be flagged for PvP just in that particular room.  Casters spells are extremly limited and the "PvP" here isn't anything more then e-peen flexing.  Some people enojy it - I'm not terribaly found of PvP to begin with.

Death Match - team orriented skirmishes.  I am not sure if there are different maps although the one I've played on can be fun.  Casters can cast ALL their spells without limits.  Upon death a player will be resurected with full Hitpoints and Spellpoints and a counter will count the kills.  This can be a lot fun.

Capture the Flag - more team orriented goodnes.  it's exactly what it sounds like.  The map I have played on was indoors with a large central chamber that included various pillars and platforms.  This stuff can be a lot of fun with the right group of players and a few alcoholic beverages.

I believe that's it.  The tavern brawl stuff seems to be the favorite for a majority of players although it's be fare the lamest thing to do in DDO, let alone PvP.

Not sure about having a Raid Group go into a Death Match but I'm sure it could be cool.

PvP in DDO doesn't maintain my interest for more then 5 minutes.  I prefer other games for PvP such as EVE Online.  The Capture the Flag maps are the closest thing you can get to Battlefield2 stylized PvP, but it's limited.
