I played WOW for a few months and got up to lvl 21 or so. Its fun at first and has a fairly large world. But after a while it tends to all go downhill. This isnt like some games where you have a chance at fight monsters 1 or 2 lvls above you. If you walk into a area with monsters 1 lvl or more above it can be suicide. With 1 hit they can take 1/2 ur health and you cant heal yourself while fighting!!(unless u have a really good potion)Also the game gets old after a while. Buying armor and weapons from npc's is cheap but they are crappy armor and weapons and the auction house can cost way too much. all in all its a pretty good game but after a while this game tends to get boring and is not worth the $15 dollars after that.

You must have been doing something wrong when you played last time. When I was there I routinely pulled either solo mobs 3 levels above me or multiple mobs of same level with no problem, regardless what class I was. Make sure you keep your gear up to date and you should have no problems.
Now its true, some classes are a bit tough in the early levels, say 1-20...but by level 30 almost every class has the talents and abilities to just roll through the NPC's.
WOW's not a bad game, heck, I had a lot of fun or I wouldn't have created 5 level 60's and raided through AQ 40.
I burned out eventually (which always happens eventually) and moved on.

Can I stop you right there and ask you some questions? Did you play any MMOs prior to WoW?
I ask because Lvl 21 takes about 20 hours of playtime even without really knowing what you are doing unless you just never played an MMO before.
You say you played a few months? And you only spent maybe 20 or so hours in the game?
You certainly have a right to your opinion and if you didn't like the game you didn't like the game, but this isn't a single player game that you play thru in 20 hours, this is an MMO and 20 hours is really a very short amount of time to play an MMO. Now perhaps you didn't know that and if that's the case, well I understand where you are coming from, but I think you should know that most MMO's require a lot of time invested and you have to give it a bit more time than a typical game. Now I'm not suggesting that if you don't like the game in 20 hours that you should continue to play, you shouldn't, but at the same time you probably shouldn't generalize about the game too much because your experience with the game is pretty small.
If you didn't like it, that's cool, it's not for everyone and maybe MMO's in general are not for you.
I burned out on WoW too. First time playing the game was amazing. I remember the 1st time taking the journey through wetlands to ironforge and was just amazed. I know it'll never be done, but a FFAPVP server would keep me playing the game forever. It's hard to find a game as polished as WoW, but prob gonna go back to console gaming.

Ok, i think there are two issues here.
First, you say it is boring .. well that depends and certainly there is some grind in WOW. However, I think that quest grinding is a lot of fun.
The second issue, that you imply the game is too hard, seems to be contrary to what I experience. First, leveling is pretty fast. I got to L20 probably in less than a week (probably over a long weekend). Even if you play it the slow way, it does not take more than 20 hours to get to level 20 (and I am being generous).
There is no excuse of not being able to kill monster higher level than you. I have played a mage (fire spec, up to L65) and a pally (L17). Both can solo mobs 3 levels above. 4 is pushing it for the mage because of the resist. Usually you can fight MULTIPLE if the mob is about the same level or 1 above.
The one hit and take 1/2 your health is certainly NOT accurate. Even my mage can tank couple of hits (usually i don't even use mana shield during normal 1-on-1 fights). My pally is essentially unkillable for a mob of the same level (or even 1 up). I am talking about normal mobs. Elite ones are a bit harder. And at least 3 (or is it 4) classes can heal in combat (Shaman, Priest, Pally, Druid?).
I actually wrote an article about my opinions of what Blizzard did right and not so right with WoW. It can be found at http://www.theburialgrounds.com/Articles/Article4.shtml ..or just see the link in the signature.
However, In the end if we step back and look at this game with the perspective of a newcomer ..WoW is a very good game.

Mobs with a golden dragon around their portrait are epic monsters and are much harder to kill.
In a previous post the OP said:
You played for six months and only got to level 21!
How? I simply don't understand how someone can achieve so little in so much time. Many players get to level 70 in considerably less time than that.
Unless ofc the original post was a miserable excuse for a troll.

Not really buying this at all, i sorta get the feeling that you have either not played the game at all or have maybe played someone else's characters. The first few lines alone ring alarm bells;
- L21 can be obtained in a couple of days of sustained play or a week of casual play at most.
- Depending on your class you can generally hit between 3-5 levels above your own level, sometimes more with a well kitted character.
- I can't remember meeting a MOB that could take off half your health when it was only 1 level above me, even elite MOB's
- Healing during a fight depends on your class and skills, as pally's and priests can obviously heal themselves and as another example, rogues can stun and bandage. You can of course use potions as well if you have them.
- You mention nothing of quests, crafting, instances, grouping and so on....
I will give you that the auctions can be an expensive place to get items at times, but at the lower levels you are talking about, vendor items and drops are good enough for most.
Personally i like the game, but it won't be for everyone and the only way to know for sure is to play it for yourself and see.
It must be Thursday, i never could get the hang of Thursdays.
I don't even think auction is that expensive. You can easily afford an improvement green/blue item with a few hours of gaming. Getting a mount, now that is expensive. Getting materials for epic crafted items is expensive. And I am not just talking about absolute prices. I am talking about the amount of time you have to play to get enough money to buy an item at your level.
You must be doing something wrong if you only got to 21 in months of play, can't handle mobs 1 level above you, think you can't heal yourself at all, and are burnt out that early.
I'm curious what class you play? My money's on a warrior.
Lol my warrior has always had trouble with mobs of higher level.
Kill missions are horrible.
I wouldn't claim to be an expert in warrior levelling, but seeing as how poorly many warrirors perform in instances, I'm not surprised they have problems when soloing as well.
Hint - don't just charge into every fight. Sometimes pulling with a gun/bow is a lot safer. Half the warriors I meet at low levels don't even seem to carry a missile weapon.

WoW was a great game I thought. Some people hate it some people like it, its all about personal preference in the end I loved the game I played it a lot, got a few character to 70 but eventually I burned myself out from playing it. I played it almost every hour of everyday ( I know sad ). Then Up and quit cold turkey bigger and better things to do, but I still think the game is great and a good starter mmorpg.
WoW
Kleiotos 70 Gnome Mage - Haomarush (PvP)
BookaBoomba 70 Troll Hunter - StormScale (PvP)
ColdBallz 51 Tauren Druid - Illidian (PvP)
RuneScape (haven''t actively played in over a year)
Level 96 - Jonessee220
Wow is a good game, simple and easy to pick up. But suffers the same problems as any other game
I've played for over 2 years and still enjoy it, depends on the guild as well.
Any game is good as good as the people you play with.
I had a friend who went 20 levels thinking that you needed to hit the "auto attack" key every time you swing a weapon. Needless to say he had all sorts of difficulty leveling and we all had a good laugh when we found out why.
Needless to say, WoW is a great game. It offers the best overall gaming package on the market right now.
I was equiping a skining knife every time I skinned an animal for the first few levels of my first profesion.
You can't review something when you havent experienced any of the content, lol. The game doesn't even start until 70. =. The only real opinion I can gather from your post is that you suck at World of Warcraft, and probably every other game you have played. For this, I applaud you, since the game spoonfeeds characters from day 1. I would quit playing MMO's. Sorry dude =
Like many others have said getting to level 21 takes at maximum 24 hours of play. You said you played for months, you ethier a liar or have no hands or feet and tried playing with your tounge. You really shouldn't need to buy items from the auction house, the only things you need are bags. It also sounds like you ignored any attempt to get to know anyone, and from personal experience, doing that myself the MMORPGS worlds are big and lonely with no one to talk to. You comment about mobs is totally false. You could be playing the most difficult solo leveling character in the game ie; the warrior and still kill mobs 2-3 levels above you with no talent points. I was dumbass when I started playing, It took me too level 50 before I realized I had talent points. But like many others have said, games are played to be fun and if you're having none than you should stop. My advice to you would be to play diablo 2 it seems to be alot more of what you're looking for.
Really? I *love* kill missions. Those are the easiest to solo (except kill-boss-missions, of course). But I play a mage, so it may be different.
I am really not a big fan of the item- and level-centric model model that WoW uses. However, compared to the competition, I think that Blizzard does everything else so right that that the deficiencies are easily overlooked.
ok. i know some of u have said it only takes 20 hours to get ot lvl 20 and that i was doion stuff rong and blah blah blah....
I HAVE A FRICKEN LIFE!! I DO THINGS OTHER THEN PLAY MMOS AND STUF!!
I play sports, read, have school, eat, sleep, brush my teeth, hang out with friends. in that couple months i played, i prob only played 20 hours! by couple months i played i mean a couple months before i decided not to play anymore!
SO SHUT UP ABOUT 20 HOURS!
(sry.bad day)
...and your life must be busy indeed... Six months to respond to your OP ?
Yet you find the time to post about it on an MMOG forum? I wonder how much time you spend on forums about sports, literature, education, food, nighttime activities and dental hygiene, and social networks. ;-)
I think WoW is just an OK game.....It really depends on where you come from.....If WoW is your first introduction to MMOs then it probably comes across as a great game, but if you have done several others already then try WoW then you get the "been there done that " feeling........Its kinda like watching cartoons...I can watch them for a short while but shortly thereafter I need something with a little more depth to keep me interested.

That made me rofl.
On topic: WoW is still the best MMORPG out there, although games like EVE or DaoC are excellent alternatives for the PvPers
WAR will be a decent one and will prob take a decent no of subscriptions from Blizzard but I doubt every WoW player is a PvPer.
Welfare-geared people say that they are PvP but most of them are simply casual people who don't have time to do an instance/raid/ try to get high ratings, so they go farm BGs for the purple items.
