PC cost to run max? Really 1000$?

Could this pricing and capability be correct. I was at best buy recently and asked about this, the Gateway - 9600 TV Desktop.

It's roughly 1100 dollors and sometimes 1000 or 900 on sale i heard. Comes with keyboard and mouse.

If i just plugged this into my HDTV would i really be able to run this game on Max. AMD Phenom™ quad-core processor 9600, NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GT graphics with 512MB video memory and DirectX 10 support. All for 1000$.

Is this really true, or would it really not run the game that well on max or very close too?

I doubt anyone knows until the game is actually released. I guess the performance of the game will change many times from now until the games end. But, i can't see that system you described having any trouble running the game.

I'm guessing you could run it at fairly high settings, however don't expect to be in a 300 person siege with DX10 on because it just won't happen with that rig. It's pretty nice, not a bad buy, they game will look pretty great with it.

Depends on the TV. Even though its an HD TV, it doesnt mean PC images will transfer over all that well. Sure you will see your PC desktop and such, but it will probably at a different aspect ratio, resolution and might look kinda dull/blurry.

If you already have a PC, a simple upgrade would cost half of that (and run a hell of alot better) than a premade Dell. If you never did an upgrade before, but know someone who has, ask them for help.

Edit: As others have said, Yes, the PC itself will do great.

well that's all great news, i'v only had the impression of over 3,000 to run it close to max. I am very willing to spend 1,000 to run the game very well, maybe not ultra best graphics but smooth gameplay that looks pretty good, is all i can ask for.

well i have a laptop now, it's very new, but pretty bad gaming wise. The TV is an Insignia, and it's pretty new so hopefully it will still look pretty good.

Meh, if it doesnt, just means you will need a monitor, which if your OK with a 19" widesceen, will run ya about $200.

With 2GB of RAM I would bet you could get max with around 45+ FPS (PS. This is not baselles speculation and I wont tell you why).

I suspect running this game at max with the DX10 client will take a next generation graphics card or at least a sli/crossfire setup. If you look at benchmarks for the few DX10 titles out, they aren't showing stellar fps even with 2 cards. The problem is, Nvidia doesn't have any great need to push it's next chip out anytime soon and AMD probably cant even if it wanted. In any case, I'm waiting - even though the price on these new cards seems like a good deal, they are still old technology, revised and refined, but still old tech.
