Unless the ship your presently piloting has enough cargo space to contain a "packaged" ship, the only other way to move a ship to a new location is to fly it there. Most people will do the later, then return to the original location in a shuttle and board their original ship.

Buy a cheap shuttle to collect your old ship i suppose??
Yes, thats the most common and cheapest solution. But i forgot to address thr repackaging. When you right click on a ship in your hanger that you are not presently piloting, an option to "assemble" or "re-package" will appear.

Begin to dock with the spacestation you are using as your base
When you get docking confirmation (the one immediately before you land) eject
(now unless this has changed in the last 12 months...)
You will now be outside the spacestation in your escape pod but your ship will have docked
You can now travel to your new ship in the escape pod (NPC pirates will ignore you but you still have to worry about other players)
Unfortunately this method results in lots of pods all over the place, if you really want to consolodate your assets you can transport pods in the industrial class ships
You can always just trash the pods you are no longer using. That or name them funky names and put them in your corp hanger so your mates can yell at you. :P

There has got to be a way to fix this. As a newbie, I was given a large industrial ship in another station to help mine. I figured, "okay, I'll just bring it over here." I thought about the logistics of that for awhile and eventually bought a shuttle. Yet I had to leave the shuttle at the station when I got there! Why do I have to buy a shuttle every time I need to retrieve a ship? That's ludicrous! Forget moving your base of operations to even the nearest next station, because it will require 4-5 trips shuttling back and forth.
Couldn't they implement a ship delivery system for a small fee?
what i do, which may not be the best way, is i take 1 ship to where i want it, then get a shuttle back to where my other ship and take that to where ever. you can reprocess the shuttle and get some minerals out of it.

That's another thing that drives me crazy--bookmarks. Why can't I just warp straight up to the freakin' gate? Is that such a problem? I know the gate campers (pirates) would hate that, but isn't that what "Warp Destablizers" are for? Stopping someone from warping? Why can't it have an area of effect around a jump gate and just slow someone down like normal?

pretty soon you will have ships that can move ships from one place to another. However, getting a shuttle to go from one place to pick up a ship only to leave the shuttle there isnt that uncommon
Why do u think Shuttles exist in thegame? You cant put anything on them and their cargo hold is the size of a Mobile Home closet.
Plus, you can get a shuttle for free if you're in a corp (I alone have 30 ).
If you're upset about having to leave a shuttle behind, why dont you process the shuttle for minerals and then transport those minerals in your new ship?

I have had to move my ships around on numerous occasions. Currently running Agent Missions so as soon as a higher lvl/quality becomes available i up and move.
Shuttles are cheap enough so i usually send my Indy with all my loot first then purchase a shuttle at my new station. Go back for my Cruiser then make another round trip for my Battleship.
Either leave the shuttles where they are (might use em later) or just put 'em up for sale on the market.
You could Reprocess but chances are your not gonna have max standings or skills to make this worthwhile.

Its a hassle, but I wouldn't call it ludicrous, and its fairly realistic. This isn't some fantasy MMORPG where you have a magical interconnected banking system in every city. Shuttles are, at least in my experience, available at every station for 1-20k, that isn't very much money at all. Not to mention you can turn around and sell the shuttle and easily make your money back and sometimes even a little profit (although usually you'll have to leave it in the market for a few days).
But I certainaly wouldn't be against some NPC ship/freight delivery system, even if it took a couple of days real time.

I don't have a problem with the banking as far as ISK goes. I just have a problem with the game's logisitics. I know EVE is supposed to be this gigantic universe and it R0x02z to make it realistic and go pick up items... but I think there needs to be a solution that's less hassle.
If it is a Indy you are picking up just repackage the shuttle and haul it with your new Indy. I had a bunch of shuttles at a station from during agent missions. That station had no refining option so I just used my Indy to haul them where I could.

You can move them where ever you wish. Just as long as you have the skills to pilot them.
Need any further help, let me know.
