This looks like the most promising MMO that is in development.

I can;t wait to play!!!!

I'm going to skip AoC and WAR and wait for this one.  This looks like a great game.

Stating some specific reasons to support your conclusion would have made your post far more interesting.

I know it when I see it.

This looks like a good game that I will enjoy.  I can live without the 1337 p0wner leetsauce community that is forming up for the other games.  Quick leveling, great storyline, good community, it's based on sci-fi instead of fantasy (which I've had enough of).  This one looks fun and kind of new.  Plus I love Stargate Atlantis.

    Good reasons, but

    Stargate SG1 > Atlantis.

I am so excited at the prospect of this game.  I have to agree, I'm sick of the fantasy genre as well.  If another game comes out with an Elf class and 30 players named "Legolas" I think I might explode...

I'm a fan of both TV shows, and if they don't mess this up, it could be one of the best games on the market.

Eh, just looking at the trailers, it doesn't look too impressive.  Granted, it's still in development and the graphics are going to get much better, but when he says "we'll trying to keep grinding to a minimum", that doesn't instill me with a lot of confidence.

Played: UO, EQ, WoW, DDO, SWG, AO, CoH, EvE, TR, AoC, GW, GA, Aion, Allods, lots more
Relatively Recently (Re)Played: HL2 (all), Halo (PC, all), Batman:AA; AC, ME, BS, DA, FO3, DS, Doom (all), LFD1&2, KOTOR, Portal 1&2, Blink, Elder Scrolls (all), lots more
    Now Playing: None

Guess it depends on what you mean.

If you are like me and are at the point  that you refuse to play any game that requires daily grinding just to play, then it can be a good thing.   If you are one of those no job people who love logging on at 6 AM to go look for plants to make into pots for that nights raid... before you run over and do some faction grinding... or before you grind out your arena games... then you probably want more grinding.

Or did you mean that you were afraid they add too much grinding to the game?  I have to admit this is a concern of mine as well.  At the Stargate game forums it seems like there are a lot of carebear EQ/ WoW fans who want to log on, and go out and solo grind all day.   Hopefull the Devs will ignore those people.

I meant I'm afraid that they're still going to have too much grinding.  The fact that they feel they have to stand up and say they're not going to have AS MUCH as they might otherwise is pretty sad.  I'm really tired of games where the whole purpose is getting stuff, getting experience, getting gear, leveling up, etc.  I just want to HAVE FUN!

Yeah me too!!! I am so sick of games like WoW.  I just won't play them.  I deleted WoW from my machine and threw out the disks, after stomping them.   If  it's a huge daily grind to go out and get useless crap that will be obsolete in a month then I'll pass.  BUT I am hoping it won't be like that.

You and me both!  Getting SO sick of elves and orcs.  I keep hoping for a kick ass sci-fi MMO but keep getting let down.

    But SG1>Atlantis

Here's a quote from Dan Elgren though:

"H1: With Star Wars Galaxies and Everquest, is there going to be that typical grind that’s going on with leveling or are you guys going to think of something new for leveling?

Dan: You know – ‘grind’ is such a four letter word to me. I’ve done too much of it and I guess some people find it fulfilling but I’ve never been a big fan of it. It’s definitely one of those things I want to be able to like change, or at least our team is going to be able to change, for this universe. To me I want the storyline to be something that I want to make sure people are pulled into, so that as you’re exploring that storyline and going on those missions it’s not a grind to do it. So you’re not killing ten pigs to, like finish your quest. You’re going to complete a unique storyline to bring you to that end."

From that i'd take it that any 'grinding' would be couched in enough storyline that you wont notice it. For example, rather than being given a random 'kill 20 Jaffa' quest, it would be 'Infiltrate the mothership heading towards Earth and wipe out the forces on board'. In both cases you'll be killing Jaffa, but in the second case you have a pretty good reason to do so, plus it advances the main storyline.

If I can dial a gate, I'll play lol... That's about all they need to add to keep me happy for eternity. Yeah, I know it sounds silly but I'm a huge fan of Stargate so not much will stop me from playing :)

That actually sounds much better, it's certainly not the stupid random quests that most MMOs use, it seems like it might encourage a little actual roleplaying.

    Thanks for posting that.

it's breaking away from the "holy three",those being Tank,Healer,Nuker.

Going to be mostly range based attack with modern types of weapons with  tactics and cover being VERY important.

That's a little hard to do until they actually release the game, isn't it?

The main thing I'm looking forward to (besides the fact that it is Stargate) is the combat system.  No more of this grind to get the best gear then go button mash.  It's all about tactics and teamwork, finding cover, flanking the enemy and from what they say the AI is supposed to be pretty good.  Can't wait to play  =)

I hate to burst some bubbles here but realistically there is going to be grind involved throughout the game.

The best we can hope for is that it's integrated fully within the story lines and isn't too dull.

Without grind type missions there is no time sink, and its just not possible to fill months/years of gameplay without grind and repetition of some kind.

They cannot produce enough content to prevent grind that's just the facts of life. Best to accept it now and hope that the story masks it sufficiently if the thought bothers you.

At the end of the day time sinks = monthly subscriptions no matter what the devs say or promise I guarentee that grind/time sinks will be part of this mmo.

Atlantis is getting a lot better this season. I like Sheppard a lot better than Cameron.
