"Out of This World" - SNES

God, the very first adventure game i ever got addicted too. I loved the whole "one-hit kill" aspect of the game, which made you think about each move you made and how to use your surroundings, and how whenever an alien with a gun would pop out in front of you it would cause your heart to jump and make you scream as you ran away in terror. Also, the cut-scenes they showed when you died were great! I probobly died everywhere possible just so i could see them all, they really made the game better. The game seemed HUGE back then, i remember going up the elevator from the prison to this tower, and you walk over to the window thinking your allmost home free, but then you look out and see this gigantic city before you and you just think "...crap". This was the only reason i still havemy SNES and i still have fun running around, dodging lasers from aliens that looked like thumbs, and screaming like a little girl when i come close to death image.

My favorite part of that game is when you got knocked down and cornered by two aliens.  One picked you up then you kicked him square in the nuts to get away.  I also liked the other games that stemmed off of this one...Flashback and Blackthorne.

One of the first MMORPG's ever... released way before UO or EQ. Could have 4 players in 1 party, all classes had 24 skills, 24 spells, customize your characters face, even had PvP from 1 vs 1 to 4 vs 4... was pretty cool. Could cost you $7.00 an hour to play from 9am till 6pm. $2 an hour after that. Crazy but was worth it back then. You dialed the Sierra network to play it useing your 14.4k modem. Role playing in the tavern in that game was still better then any RP i have seen in any game since heh. Later they closed down the sierra network and came out with this single player version. (Game isnt near the same single player as it was multiplayer)

hahaha  its sad  isn't it...  Games that can be called decent, such as FFXI and Anarchy Online, dont even have the level of customization, during the character creation process, of a MS-DOS game  that came out before even Windows 3.1  was out! lol

I was never what you wanted, I could never never please.
I swallowed all our sorrow in the midst of my disease.
All my fortunes, all my gains, all the battles I have won...
Now collapsing like the rain, I stand alone, your only son...

Take some solace in these words, take notice of this place.
Hollow whispers that they are, like the wind upon my face.
Sing softly in my ear and look at me with wonder.
I will try to ease your fear as the darkness pulls you under.

Yep. And I tell you. They come out with games with better graphics, characters with extensive voices. But, nothing just compares to those old games that give you a sense of reminescence of the good ol days.

lol, yeah Starcraft is definetly not a retro game. Talking more about 80s, maybe even the early 90s. The big ones for me would definetly be the original Zelda and Metroid. Final Fantasy 1 & 3 were also really good. Oh and cant forget the Bard's Tale.

Out of This World was AWESOME... one of the hardest games i've played to date but still fun as hell... it really set new standards in SNES adventure games...

i remember when they came out with "Out of This World: Heart of the Alien" (i think it was called) for Sega CD (was the 1st kid in my school to own one ^^)...

it was like Part 2 of Out of This World... you could either play the original one or this other version (which i think took place immediatly after the 1st one ended) where you played as one of those bald headed buddies... (the one meet in the cage at the beginning of OoTW)... you got a lazer shooting whip or something instead of a gun... it was pretty wild ^^

anyways ya... that has to be one of my favorite retro games but my ABSOLUTE favorite has to be... jeeze i cant pick just one =_=... well heres a list ^^

    Mike Tysons Punch Out (NES)

    Lolo (NES)

    Robotron (Atari?)

Megaman... ALL OF THEM... (anybody try that Megaman Aniversary game?... so many memories ^^)

    Drakken (SNES)

    Monkey Island

    Maniac Mansion (NES)

Double Dragon... once again, all of them...

    ... umm...

    Punch Out
    Megaman
    Zelda
    Tecmo Bowl
    Excitebike
    Ninja Gaiden

and the greatest of all time: Contra

I used to be addicted something fierce to some NES if you can't tell

we used to have this summer and winter olympics game for the Commodore 64 which used to occupy a lot of my time too, each one was 2 discs and you had to pick and choose which events you were going to do so you could minimize having to switch discs back and forth.... it was great::::08::
