Want to let everyone know about your computer??? post here any picture of a benchmark like 3dmark , sisofts andra or any other benchmark... or about your bios configurations, talk about it... how do you make it stable and workable and at the same time fast... or how you get it that good and such.. you may help people to get better rigs with out even notice....

By the way I dont have much to brag about... Phenom, DDR800, 8800GTX.. oh well

those are the default 3dmark???? by the way... plz tell us about your cooling.. sound interesting with such speed in the processor...

one other thing... is that SLI????

those 15k with a 8800 gt.. really bothers me lol... I got a phenom B2 and a 8800gtx and the windows isnt fancy at all... and it doesnt get even to 10k in 3dmark...

Lasters drivers by the way.... oh and i only give the system 4% of overclock.. or 5, 6%...

Is that rig really overclocked... or they rock so much by itself?????

Yeah thats default 3dmark settings. I'm just using a regular Zalman 9700LED with Artic Silver 5

    (link here) www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx

I get about 28-30 degrees celsius idle, and about 50C load (average across all cores)

No thats not SLI.. thats just 1 card.

Heres my motherboard, it has heat pipe cooling so I can crank up the north bridge and FSB voltages and get a pretty stable overclock.

My case is an Antec 900 and it has a TON of cooling.

Thats a 200MM fan on the top that sucks air out of the case.

I'm really over clocked. From 2.4ghz to 3.6ghz is a 1.2ghz overclock, But a G0 Q6600 will easily reach 3.6ghz on air and even 3.8. To get to 4.0 ghz you probably need water cooling.

Stock speed I get about 13.5k in 3dmark06

  • PelagatoPelagato Member UncommonPosts: 673

omg.... well i have some phenom... and air colling... in just environment air... dunno if I should try to overclock that hard... dunno where to find overclocking profiles from other people

  • VindicothVindicoth Member Posts: 273

Ah well unfortunately the Phenom won't overclock that hard. I think you'd be lucky to get 2.8 or 3.0ghz right now depending on your stock speed.  You can goto www.tomshardware.com and look at how other processors stack up against the phenom, and even they werent able to get much out of the Phenom on water cooling. It does really really good though in software that takes advantage of multiple cores.

my phenom default speed is 2200mhz.... just wondering if i can boost it up to 2600 with out trouble in a 650watt psu and air cooling in environmental air?  oh by the way i got a 8800 gtx

All depends on your specific phenom (overclocks vary by chip) and motherboard. You have to sort of tweak it yourself until you find the right speed you can keep it stable at.

anyway who have overclocked a phenom here????

  • tvalentinetvalentine Member, Newbie CommonPosts: 4,216

    intel quad core 2.4 ghz

    750 gb HDD

    8800 Ultra

    4gb corsair RAM

    Asus Striker Extreme Mobo

    Windows vista ultimate

i really dont see the need to OC, just seems like a good way to burn up your system and give yourself a reason to buy a new comp.

Oh, and the life you lose from overclocking is almost negligible unless you plan on having that system for 5+ years.

you're right, my bad. But your'e also entirely wrong.

50C is LOW for this system. STOCK temps are about the same. The only time you have to worry about getting problems is 80C+, and 70C+ is the rated level. I can run this processor at this temp for 4 years easily. By then I'll have already upgraded.

    8800gxt video

2 gig CD DDR2 ram overclocked to 1066

Q6600 quad core - have not over clocked it yet but my understanding is with a water cooler it easily clocks to 3.2ghz per core.  I have had no need to mess with it however.

    22in flat screen

your system and processor can run at different temps. Processor cant handle as much heat as oh say a GPU. And yeah OCing a 2.4ghz processor to 3.6ghz will definetly cut down the life span of your processor, although believe what you want. I highly doubt youll get 4 years out of it. Considering STOCK temps (with stock heatsink) is about 40-45 full load. So not only are you running it at a higher then normal temp, but your increasing its processing rate 50% more then what its supposed to go.

so no matter how much cooling the system get screw up very fast because of stress under extream overclocks???

yes no matter how much cooling you have, if you overclock it as much as vindcoth did, it will not last long. .3-.4 OCs are necessarily that bad, and i would recommend OCing just a little, and not 1.2 ghz. And you would need a pretty good cooling system to keep an OCed processor cool also.

so to answer your question, under extreme OCs you will definetly shortent he lifespan of your CPU, no matter how much cooling you have.
