This doesn't seem so cookie cutter as most f2p games are. It truly breaks free of those garbage games korea keeps sending us. The game has nice controls, nice graphics and performance. It really feels like a true adult themed game unlike garbage titles like 2moons. Requiem has better gore too . The towns and environment look amazing. This game is really going to be hot once people catch on.
3 months later... bots, gold sellers. So enjoy it now while you can .

Im feelin ya .Cause I feel the same way.
Love the game and the details as well as the combat. The graphics are truly good as they can get.And I belive its ture this will become one of the worlds most known games.
Butterfly effect
I think so too. I loved Lineage ][, still do, but taking a break from it, although I feel Lineage ][ is a huge cut above most of the Korean games. Some of the recent f2p games, like Shaiya and Perfect World were actually pretty good, but Requiem blows them away imo.
My hope is they offer one special PvP server that is open PvP. At least in that environment, you can kill the gold farmers and bots.

I am a L12.5 (decimal levels do not exist) defender and I am enjoying the game. I plan to reach as high as I can, explore the world, and see other gameplay mechanics.
I like the graphics. The graphics are not cartoony nor too realistic but not in those middle. It is above that middle. The graphics can get laggy but you can lower the settings while still retaining the quality
You can customise your controls. It does not alert you whenever there's another key using another character. It overwrite the current selection with whatever you are pressing without alerting you of errors. I like this compared to Shaiya where I always get an error so I have to delete the key using the character of the desired key before I can put a new character into the key I want.
The combat is like World of Warcraft. You can have up to 12 skills onto your skillbar while going to a designated skillbar. There are 10 skillbars, making 120 skills accessible for hotkeying. You approach a monster, use your skills, and when dead, watch its body parts go flying in random directions far and the body twitches a lot to the extent that it looks like it is having a seizure. I find one of the addictive part of this game is the death itself. Player are also subjected to this. You can see them twitch but not have their body parts blown off.
Certain monsters only appear in nightmare time. Nightmare time is at a certain time at night, from 2300(I am sure) to some time 400(correct me if I am wrong). The game keeps an ingame 24 hour clock time to itself. 5 seconds is equal to a minute, so 300 seconds or 5 minutes in life is an hour in the game. Certain quests require you to complete in that time. I do not worry if I can finish my quest in time because nightmare imte will come back and I have a high enough DPS to kill enough monsters.
The organic monsters look like mutants or degenerates and nightmarish. I saw a zebra-like monster called a ziebalt that had its underside what seems to be its muscles and its heart pounding and tree-like mutants complete with head and arms that pops out from inside its trunks to name a two. The inorganic(they are not bloody) monsters so far are rock monsters, golems and a rock monster that has a huge boulder attached on top to tiny arms and head compared to the boulder. They can still twitch and have their parts detached when dead. The specters look bloody when dead and I was not paying attention about their death. The specters looks identical to humans and were not transparent. If the level gap between you and the monster is high enough, then you receive less XP.
The world is set in fantasy mixed with technology. It has magic along with typical fantasy setting things mixed with DNA, very old styled looking planes for payable automated travel, electricity(not an ingame mechanic) and mechanical fans but no useable guns. DNAs are upgrades for your character one you reach levels greater than 9. You can only have 5 at a time but you can discard them and replace them with no refunds.
There are no item sellers except for accessoric things(rings, belt, earrings, necklace, wrist to name them all) and potions. You can get the rest of your gear items from killing monsters of the same level. There's a 5-10% chance that you can get a good item from killing monsters that will replace your current gear. It is not 90-95% that you always get something from a monster. The 5-10% chance is from looting monsters not from the total items you get.
You can upgrade your weapons at the blacksmith. The upgrade require ingredients called xeons and a price.
You get quests from NPCs but there is an NPC that sell an array of scroll quests. You buy them and accept the quest. The scroll quests have a level requirement because they are sending you to monsters around that level
There is PvP. You can join a 8, 16, 32 or 64 man groups vs 8, 16, 32 or 64 man groups. You join in by talking to an NPC but I have not join in yet.
There are player guilds
There are bugs. The ones I have found are being stuck on a mountain after loading while pressing, character screen and inventory screen, monsters going the wrong direction, and text problems. The text are understantable in English
These are what the game is like. I am enjoying the game and finding it addictive
YAY...I finally got a character up to level 10 (so I could pick my career path)! I agree, this game is awesome for a free-to-play game. So far the only thing I wish they would add is more avatar customization - that way not everyone's character looks the same. Other than that, I cant wait to test out the other features of the game.
Question - Do you have to press a button, or buy a skill to see Nightmare mode?
I agree with avatar sameness. My character looked exactly the same as another player's, equipment and all. hehe
Nightmare mode happens automatically. What occurs is that the original mobs are there, but Nightmare spawns also appear
Do we need to be a certain level to see them, or does everyone see them at a certain time of night?
Do we need to be a certain level to see them, or does everyone see them at a certain time of night?
Every one sees them. For example, in the outdoor Mines, "Nephas" only appear during Nightmare time.
In addition to 2x-3x mobs appearing at Night, there are also mobs that only appear during the day, like "Sea Monsters".
It is a very engaging game on multiple levels. Even in closed beta, I'm loving the game, and expect by the time open beta and release approach, it will only get better.
This was a really nice surprise. I was not following this one at all.
Terrapin
Ah, thanks for explaining it more for me Terra! Yeah this game is a nice gem in the rough (reminds me alot of EQ1 but with WoW usability). I finally figured out the DNA system and auction house (which is an awesome switch from the typical asian mmo player/vendor stands - which clutter up everywhere, lol).
I'm still at level 10, so haven't experienced everything the game has to offer, but again it's really a nice surpise. Some guy was talking in-game about there may be additional avatar looks/customizing with the full release client - which I hope there is; because I love the asian style character models and like to see more. My only concern is that this game might go pay-to-play. I would put up with some bots and a cash shop to have this stay free-to-play.
This looks like a great game. The graphics are solid (not the best ever, but still very good). I'm glad to hear that the folks in beta like because it seems like a fun one to play.
I hope it does well, I will definitely play this one.
This game is not your standard f2p game and as far as f2p games go this is by far the best one I have ever played. Currently level 21 and still enjoying it.
lv 39 Warrior atm and still enjoying the game heh

Requiem:- (Till Now)
I have been playing this game in closed beta and after a few months at-last I have hit upon a fun game.
I started playing this game with the idea that this game is going to be another grind game.
But fortunately enough I didn’t feel the grind at all till level 25 where you have been able to collect the awesome amour set from Ruins of Lament dungeon and is thinking, what’s next? But I do see still 2 more dungeons to be explored at that map only and thus it makes me go on and on with a host of friends in the guild and main chat channel always full of witty remarks and comments.
When I started the game, I found that leveling is easy and character customization is really deep. Thus you have the option of making super toons and can kill higher level monsters giving more xp per kill and make the grind vanish away from the system.
The dungeons in this game are really good. These dungeons are not like other public dungeons but private dungeons for a team of 4 to enter and maximum of 8 people to team up with.
From level 13+, you can well get into the Chaste Sanctum Dungeon and look for Hook parts for the awesome set bonus and other nice stat boosts. You can also bring your amour to similar stats compared with the hook amour with reinforcements and compounding and thus allowing you the option to organize a party or just farm game money ( Lant ) and do the justice to your amour. The last boss at Chaste Sanctum drops some cool weapons and these weapons can really take you way up to level 25+ and beyond if you can get a rare Supernecus ( Yellow ) Xeon drop to compound it.
The maximum of 8-man party system is quite refreshing from the 6-man party system that is quite common.
Most of the quests that are worth doing and give logical rewards are delivery quests and at level 23 the possession beast quest is a must do quest for all. Quests in this game do help you explore the map a lot and get acquainted with the required NPC’s in the upcoming cities as you level up.
After this dungeon at level 23+ is the Ruins Of Lament , where you can get Cry Of Lament armour drop and it is a nice dungeon to have the fun of party gaming.
The graphics of the game is much better than 2moons ( when looking at it from the blood and stuff and overall atmosphere ) and the world is quite as huge as perfect world or likewise. The sound of this game is really good and the best part of this game is nifty cut scenes and Half-Life like movement skills. There are some areas where you need to time your jump right and a slight mistake can ruin you to death.
The skill sets in this game is quite good giving you much option to pick and choose according to your gaming style.
I like the PvP in this game but the real requirement of the player versus player battles comes when you need to unlock that awesome reinforcement xeons from the xeon NPC. Thus the game is not limited to becoming strong for the monsters you face but you also need to twink your character against other players and get war points for better stuff. Some of this unlocked compound and xeons can well upgrade your amour and weapon with very high stats.
The introduction of Auction House is refreshing and the limitation of putting a fixed number of stuff to be auctioned is quite good with a maximum of 3 days of auction period.
Mailing stuff to other characters and sharing bank with other chararcters are nice add-ons to make the game – play and stuff farming easy and effective.
Hunting monsters is not like going and killing but waiting for time zones as the in-game clock makes a few monsters available by day and few by night. The Nightmare concept is really nice with powerful monsters dropping fat loot and making it worthwhile to be fast in killing at those time spans.
The game community so far in closed beta is awesome with not many off-beat remarks and comments on the main chat interface and the chat system is quite ok to carry on.
If you are looking for a deep character customization and experimentation game with horror fantasy background and smooth game-play with nice dungeons to look for rare drops and set bonuses, then this is the game.
After many days this game gives the same blend of everything as WoW use to give at my college days.
Cheers.

As most others have stated, this game is very well done for a F2P, I have enjoyed it very much and will continue to do so for as long as it is around.
By far the best F2P game I have come accross in a while, I did like perfect world there for a bit but after a while it turned back into a grind fest like most other F2P. This game seems to have a good mix of Asian and Western style to it which is one reason I think it is impressing a lot of people.
Out of every 100 men, 10 should not be there,
80 are nothing but targets, 9 are the real fighters.
Ah, but one, ONE of them is a warrior,
and he will bring the others home.

Yeah, this is definitely a game to watch. After having played 2Moons and Cabal Online recently (blech) this is much better, and probably the best F2P game I have played since Guild Wars.
This is a reply regarding the nightmare creatures. They appear at certain areas of the map, not everywhere and anyone at any level can try their hand at it. If you are too low a level, you will probably die often. Actually, I believe some creatures disappeare during the night. But that seems rarer. I believe the Requiem wiki site has a map showing the locations for Crescent island. I don't have the link handy, otherwise I would include it here. Also, for information, there is a store where one can buy weapons and armor in Rondell Village. In other words, if you haven't been able to get a piece of equipment, via poor luck you may be able to pick it up there for a cost. I forget where but one just needs to look. It's not too large a village.
All in all, I like the game and I've noticed some changes from when I first started, so I believe the developers are listening to the comments posted on these forums. By the way, there is an official site with an official forum too. My only recent problem was I was not able to get enough participants to enter Fridha mine last evening. We maxed out at 3 and you need 4. Hopefully that won't happen tonight.

Here we go…………..
A look at the Closed Beta Test for Requiem.
I am sorry but still then I will write all that can make the game better ……
Chat Interface needs to be upgraded a lot. It should be such that it can be easily worked out and players can be invited just by clicking their name on the chat. A whisper should be answered with a key stroke rather than writing the full name with the /w and continuing.
The look and feel of the game is very good , but the journey to places is a bit time consuming so if there were mounts or super sprint mode or may be haste potions then may be some journeys would have really been fast and then again the horror of passing by high level areas would have ceased to exist.
Sometimes playing a Templar, you really can hit a target far and the target stops there and do not come to you as if the target is unable to find your location. Now this needs to be fixed as many far of monsters with the electric bolt tend to get stuck a lot.
I was playing a Templar and to go into the critical analysis of that part I would really go class specific but I can well try to do that a bit. Skills are awesome and the only thing that I found was that “ ION SHEILD “ had a higher def than “ DIVINE SHEILD “ but then again “ ION SHEILD “ cannot be buffed to others and if someone buffs me “ DIVINE SHEILD “ then I loose the high def and have to yell at him / her not to buff me as I was unable to cancel that buff and now I am stuck with around 50 points of low def .
When playing Templar and as healer the one thing I felt that I needed was shortcut keys to select one of the 8 members in my team window so as to make my healing more accurate and faster.
At level 36 for a Templar, a skill comes in known as Glaring Light , well the total damage in it is 108 for 6 seconds , is that skill of any use at that level ?
Dungeons:-
We really have some cool dungeons in this game and the coolest part of it is they are private with bosses and awesome drops from bosses, I here mean Chaste Sanctum and Ruins of Lament.
But the lack of dungeons after level 25+ and till you can do Ancient Temple is a big grind time where most players feel a bit irritated for sure. Why I hint at dungeons is because, I have seen MMO’s go player less when there is too much solo stuff. I know good gamers like to solo a lot and twink the character to solo higher and more stronger monsters for their levels but then again the casual gamers who are just in for some good time and fun should be handled with extreme care as they form the bulk of the population.
The Auction Hall Window…………………
Well the Auction Hall is really nice but you can well have a way to link your items and have a look at the similar items to check the price fast or to buy a better one. Auction hall also needs a bit better scroller to scroll or may be parameters like 4 types stats points to make the search less tedious. It has been so many times that when I needed to search some items I was like going through a long list and I never needed the items with one type of stat types. For example suppose I need a bracelet with 3 dex 2 str and 2 int but in auction hall I have to go through searching the entire list with bracelets that even have just 1 str. So I want many more parameters for searching and the putting of name option also as it is sometimes easy to put in name than to go and search from the tree with armor-leather-head……..Now when we come to sell items which has a bid, there should be some button where I can just see the items that as a bid and can clear them. I may be wrong here as I have not tried to find if selling items with the bid comes in the biding aperture.
Another thing that he auction hall needs is a way for people to buy item at their own price. For example I want to buy a bracelet with 1 str , I will just go and set the name and the parameters and set my bid for it . The other person who has it just needs to come and put it and sell at buyer’s price. Thus this will ensure that many good items do not go to the vendor and all has a chance to make the most of their loot.
Though I am writing so much but the best Auction House I have seen so far is in City of Heroes known as consignment house. I know comparison is bad but then again the ease of gaming is what makes good games better and better the best, is it not?
Mail System ….
The mail system does not allow passing items between same accounts. Why so?
Sometimes with low connection speeds, the game halts a bit; these needs to be fixed a bit as there are many players who play the game through wireless or routers where there is connections speed disparity.
Apart from all this I really have not found much and if I do I will really report it and make it a worthwhile effort to make this game better and may be more users friendly and more fun for the coming times.
Cheers

After reading this page, my eyes need some serious re-calibration.
I found this game to be pretty good too
