Looking for a good F2P game that ISNT a grindfest!

fooflingerfooflinger Member Posts: 121

Yeah Im waiting on WAR and I've been REALLY bored. So I need a good F2P game to hold me over...Alls I really ask is that its not a total grindfest, theres an active community and alot to do. And please let their be some PvP. :) I love PVP.

Suggest me a game!

Waiting for: Archeage, Darkfall 2.0, and Planetside 2.

Guild wars.  all (4  i think now or maybe 5) games are great.  they have a very well designed questline that gets you from 1 to 20 (max level atm) in just over 8 or so missions.  it then continues (because its skills not levels that are important) for another 7-10 missions.  its all good fun and you NEVER have to grind.  the pvp is also good.

if your gonna pick up any guild wars always go for the latest as they are all standalone games (bar 1 which is set in the north).

guild wars sounds like the perfect game for you :)

    MMO wish list:

    -Changeable worlds
    -Solid non level based game
-Sharks with lasers attached to their heads

Maybe you should try playing WYD global. It has friendly community, great pvp and less grinding! less grinding because theres a combat control mode there that lets you auto attack (melee or magic) on monsters, like botting, only its legal.

If you want a full "MMORPG" that's F2P, Guild Wars blows the competition out of the water. However, if you want to mindlessly blow stuff up, there's a game called Exteel that's basically arena matches (different types, Deathmatch, defending a base, ect...) and it's with giant mech robots so that's a really fun timesink

I think RF online would be a pretty good game. I'm not saying you don't have to grind to level in this game but it's not such a grindfest like most asain games like Flyff. RF online is a MMORPG where in you fight with robots and other mobs. I've recently heard RF online is like the WoW of the F2P games although I wouldn't believe that so if I were you I would give RF online a try

Alright...Yeah I bought guild wars ages ago...Not to fun...Just instance instance instance instance....I tried that game WYD. It looked cool but i couldnt stand how badly translated it was...And people were like half the size of the walls! Thats not right. Graphics werent good, point and click, didnt look like something i could see getting into...And RF online i've played before. Pretty fun but it is the BIGGEST grindfest I've ever played in my life. Decent game tho besides grinding.

Waiting for: Archeage, Darkfall 2.0, and Planetside 2.

not trying to be mean of anything.. but.. isnt WAR quite the grindfest ?

So my question with this is: Why are you looking for a skillbased game if your going to go with WAR ?

Better get that patience and "second life" training :P

How can you say WARs a grindfest...It wasn't even released yet...And from day one you can just go out and PvP to level up....Hows that a grindfest?

Try Talisman online, Shaiya, Perfect World and Mabinogi.  I'm also playing the CB of Requiem and that so far is a pretty good game.  I hear Rohan is going to be good and should be in beta soon.

But you did know that WAR is quite far in closed beta ? And people are playing it ?

And from a friend who's playing it is saying that it's pretty much, gear and levelbased. So what does that mean ?

And from what i've read myself it seems that he is correct.

And level through PvP, that really sounds fun in the beginning. And i really hope it would be fun because i would love to have a good PvP game to play (without grinding my brain off)

But i think the PvP punnishments are too low and that makes the PvP quite meaningless. Sure if your race dies allot the enemies will loot your town etc. But what do you lose on that ?

You can pvp in Guild Wars you know...  Also, imo, the graphics for the game are amazing compared to a lot of F2P games.  Not a fanboy of the game but I've tried A LOT of F2P games and nothing compares to Guild Wars.

I would avoid Shayia, Mabonigi, Flyff and that like.  They install a program on your computer (game guard) that is a nightmare to remove and will cause issues with your computer.  It functions like a rootkit and does NOT shut down when you exit the game and remains on the computer even after you remove the game.

It took me 2 days of searching and cleaning to get that piece of shit off of my rig.

I'd say Dream of Mirror Online fits the request - it's free, there are TONS of quests, crafting skills, multi-classing, lots of areas, and a mostly-friendly community.  I do have to add though that it is US and Canada only, so that does cut down a lot on the language barriers you find in most other games.  It's not the "perfect" game by any means, but one of the better free ones I've played in a long time.  PVP is pretty limited, however, but there are plans to do more with PVP in the future, from what I understand.

If free with lots of PVP is your bag, look into Shadowbane.

Ya and a friend of a cousins sisters brothers uncles monkey told me that people who post about how they heard something form their friends mothers therapist are idiots.  Just because WAR is level based does not mean its a grind, just because a game is skill based doesnt mean it doesnt involve a lot of grinding.

Fool me once shame on you, fool me twice shame on me.

Well, just read about the game yourself. Or wait for it and see for yourself.

And gear based does mean it's lots of grinding.

And yes, skillbased does mean it's less grindy for those that are skilled. And in a skillbased game you dont need to be level "xx" to be good.

If you don't get this you should probably hang out with your monkey a little more, since he's the only one who understands you.
