We all play multiplayer online games , that's granted , we all love the social aspect
But are you co-operative or competitive player ?
Competitive player - enjoys wining. To win you must be better than other player. PVP is often your game.
You can win alone, or with your group/guild. But your goal is to defeat your opponents. Some people may see you as a hardcore person, but hey - its just a game and you play to WIN !
Cooperative player - enjoys working together towards common goal. You derive pleasure from seeing your team working as well oiled machine. PVP or PVE , important is that challenge is great. Even if the day is lost
, if your team performed well , you are glad , after all you are not there for Victory itself . Some people may see you as carebear - but every friendship made is a potential guild member !

Co-op! I do like my solo adventures, but overall I prefer forced grouping and cooperation to advance!

Co-Op, as Kat said I enjoy my solo play, but I do like to play with others to achieve a goal to advance.
There are 3 types of people in the world.
1.) Those who make things happen
2.) Those who watch things happen
3.) And those who wonder "What the %#*& just happened?!"
Co-Operative. Why else would I play a healer so often?

Playing: Nothing
Played: Champions Online, CoX, STO, PSO, WoW, lots of free-to-play crap
Looking Forward To: DC Universe Online, Blade and Soul
Co-op here too.
I either play tanks or healers .. the cnr stones of a group.
I would assume that the DPS classes would show the more competitive players
I don't fall into the co-operative all that much or the competitive. I guess I'm a little bit of both but I'm not obsessed with winning nor do I seek a constant co-operative scenario. I'm fine with what I'm doing when I'm doing it. I take things as they come.
No required quests! And if I decide I want to be an assassin-cartographer-dancer-pastry chef who lives only to stalk and kill interior decorators, then that's who I want to be, even if it takes me four years to max all the skills and everyone else thinks I'm freaking nuts. -Madimorga-
Middle ground. I like soloing more than grouping, but if I group, I'll damn well do it to the best of my ability. I think that need for strategy carries over into my love of pet games (mwhaha.. mob him my beasts- while I stand back and shoot spells).
I did not vote, because I enjoy being both. I would be disappointed by any MMORPG that did not offer their players the opportunity to be both.
"Those who dislike things based only on the fact that they are popular are just as shallow and superficial as those who only like them for the same reason."
I am competitive by nature. Co-op only if it promotes my competitive nature or that of other like minded players. But then I enjoy pvp immensely. In WOW only did co-op to get the needed gear to be geared up for pvp. DAOC the same. Our guild healers were trained for pvp not content. But did exceedingly well at both.
I guess I do co-op only if its to improve or for my team. Otherwise I wouldnt.
I didnt give the middle option in the vote for a simple reason : Everyone is bit of both.
But if you can choose which side is more appealing to you , than surely write about it here
As for my self. I am not much of competitive player. I do like winning , but i much more enjoy the trill of the battle itself - and good work with my team.
Co-Op for sure.
I would rather play within a team structure, and feel as though playing my role well contributes to the success of our group. Personally that is what is great about the MMO you can contribute to a guild or large scale goals like RVR and still be able to solo PVE when you want to and further your character.
I definitely fall into the Co-op. PvP has never been my thing in RPG's for some reason, maybe I've just never given it a chance. I love single-person FPS and multi-player FPS but never gone there in an MMORPG.
I solo more than co-op though, except when my RL gaming buddies are online, then we're together. Although even then, if we're spread in levels a bit or want to work on alts that aren't close, we'll just be on teamspeak hanging out while doing our own thing in game.
My first intro to PvP was in EQ. I was doing belt quests in common lands. I ran in to turn them in, had no idea I was going into an PvP flagged arena. Got to the guard NPC to turn in the quests when a player came out of stealth. Fortunately for me, he targeted the guard instead of me and got his arse handed to him. That was frickin' hilarious seeing him try to get out of the arena... it was sweet satisfaction to see him hit the ground.
I've done a few duels in WoW, but I don't get much out of it personally, even when I win.
So, yeah, co-op for me.
Same here...both...depending on the MMO and also on my mood
I'm really like 30/70 on here with Co-op being the higher one, I like doing PVP alot but would drop that in a sec to help out a guild member or friend on a quest or dungeon
Whining has an 'h' in it. Yes, many competitive players I know in MMO's do enjoy doing this activity much to the dismay of other gamers.

i consider myself cooperatively competitive if that makes sense. i enjoy winning but i like to accomplish that through teamwork and all that stuff.
I am both. However...
I am a cooperative competitor. The emphasis is on cooperation. Ever watch a disney movie? Think of me as the good guy in this. I would stop, in the middle of my race, to make sure the peoples I am racing with are fine, even if it cost me the victory.
I will group my main competitor to the level cap! Even if he is higher level than me and by doing so, I am doomed to never beat him (at the same time we screw most other competitors by helping out each other; but they would be welcome to group us as far as I am concerned). But I will still compete in a nice way. A few peoples reproach me my competitiveness or find me silly about it, but they are rare. Most competitors don't feel like I am giving it all I could, that I restrain myself.
Cooperation is primordial, competition is an extra! See it as a Legolas when he competes with the dwarf. He would save this dwarf even if it means the dwarf would wins the competition. This is not a dilemn. But if he can helps it, he will defeat more orcs than the silly dwarf, yet the group well-being take precedance over self-glorified objectives.

Co-op here I would say. I like winning and being the one who's the best, but in the end what gets the wins is cooperating. For me I don't need to be the guy standing on the top as long as my "side" wins I can gladly help them, even if this may cost me my place at the top. Even if I should lose I can take a defeat, as well as what I did was the best I could to help to the group and the group did decently I'm happy.
To me winning is not everything. However I do tend to play my MMO's with the a solo mindset. What I mean by this is that I play my character for me, and I tend to choose the abilities for the sake of being fun for me. If by some chance others get a benefit out of it then that is purely coincidental and a definite bonus. It may sound selfish but it's just the way it is with me. It also comes down to fun. If it's not fun for me I won't do it no matter what it is.
No required quests! And if I decide I want to be an assassin-cartographer-dancer-pastry chef who lives only to stalk and kill interior decorators, then that's who I want to be, even if it takes me four years to max all the skills and everyone else thinks I'm freaking nuts. -Madimorga-
To me I really enjoy the cooperation aspect more. There is a huge amount of satisfaction in watching a team meld together and accomplish something no one member could do on their own. This applies even to FPS style games, pure competition (such as a last man standing scenario in a FTS to put it in perspective) just ends up being a bunch of spawn-camping gankers that stand around waving E-Peens and whining when things don;t go their way.
Both as much as each other depending on something:
- Co-op is at its best when playing with intelligent people.
- Competetive is at its best when playing against mature people.
Never did play well with other kids.
i can say competitive because i want challenges..challenges make my personality stronger.
