LF MMORPG until War.

Well I am very curious about Warhammer Online.  I have played a lot of MMORPG.  From sci-fi to fantasy.  I guess there are a lot of MMORPG players in my boat.  Me and my fiance really want to get into a well made, well depth game with end game content.  I'd prefer a P2P game, more content and more end game stuff usually.

WoW- We played for about two years, level 70's, raided a lot.  I mean we live our own lives, but it's fun to put ourselves in a fun enviorment, to play and get cool armor, weapons, story, etc.  I mean WoW had a decent story behind it, good PvP, good Pve end game, Kara, Gruuls, SSC, TK, Hyjal, BT.  But it became stale lately.  Fun game for someone who is interested in decent PvP, goals, gear, quest, community (other than Drama and dicks), and so on.  I would suggest if your computer isn't the best, and if you would like to expierence what a MMORPG is like.  It attracts more people because it has so many subscribers, but Blizzard is getting lazy.  Just like every popular MMORPG, it will fall soon.  Not because its a bad game, because Blizzard has made so much money they don't have that "ness" anymore.  "Blizzardness."  They use to try so hard for quests, ideas, armor skins, etc.  Now they have so much people they are kind of just going with the flow instead of trying new ideas.  Anyways more about them later.  (decent tradeskill).

EQ2- Well I had a chance to play this game.  It was fun "however" if you do not have a good computer, forget it.  You can set your graphics down but the way the game is created, the skins and such, will be either choppy or not rendered proberly.  Good game, a lot to do, end game content, SO much class selections, which I love! (I love how EQ still adds all the dungeon and dragons classes and adds more spice to it, alot of new MMORPG's are adding some dumb classes to the game, for one people want more choice not limitation).  (good tradeskilling).

DaoC- Good game.  Graphics are a little out of date, but gameplay is top.  I really don't mind DaoC's graphics, the gameplay is fun.  PvP, crazy stuff to do.  Didn't play this game too much but it was fun.  Good game for PvP and such.

FFXI- I played this game for two years.  Good graphics, good quests, missions, tradeskills, PvE.  Always fun.  I loved this because I am a huge FF fan.  Being able to recreate a character who uses all the spells and abilities from the other FF's is just godly.  I really loved everything, NM monsters were fun to farm, only problem was the gil botters.  People who farmed NM who were bots...  Anyways, good game.

Guild Wars-  Good free to play game.  It is more instance based.  Good graphics that run smooth even if your computer isn't the best.  Good community, guild bases, good PvP, decent game.

AO- Was fun.  Being in a civi world was fun.  It wasn't my cup of tea, I'm more into Fantasy games, but this was a fun game.

Archlord-  Liked the idea, but the controls weren't programmed too well, and the quests were just very repetitive.

COX- Was fun, become a superhero and fight evil, or good.  Had a good idea, once again, not my cup of tea, but a fun super hero game or super villian.

D&DO- D&D, it's fun, good dungeon layout, fun but I needed more outdoor, less instanced stuff.  Reminded me of Baulders Gate a bit.  Kind of bad, but fun for hardcore D&DO people, anyone give this a try, maybe you'll like it.

Flyff- Another decent Free to play.  Anime style graphics, combat was meh, I guess it's alright.

Fury-  Haven't tried yet, so I can't give my 2 cents to this.

L2- Was alright but controls and angles were not the best.  Not very smooth, kind of click and play.

LOTRO- I'm thinking about this game, good graphics, decent game, end game content, tradeskills, people, etc.

Runescape-  Bad graphics, addictive as hell.  PvP is fun, Pve is well, grind but fun.

SWG- Was fun before the patch.

UO- God, this was fun, I love houses.  I love PvP, I love it all, heh.

Vangaurd- if you don't have an amazing computer, dont bother, save some money.  I bought it without knowing, I have a good computer but I didn't have the top end at the time, badddddd choice.

Wurm Online- I loved the games concept, but the game needs better programming and design.  If anyone from Wurm Online reads this, I could help created some things if you need help, I see a lot of potential in this game.  If it was properly programmed and added more character custimizations, better battle, and added a bit, this would be a top seller.  Like a 3d UO if it were fixed up a bit more.

Those are my opinions, these aren't official ratings, just my person expierience.  There are some games I did not mention, nor did I want to, including the Korean type games, you know the free to play but you buy items from in game store.  Bad concept, real bad, it hasn't worked yet, but they insist to create more?  Please stop.  Make a P2P game and you won't have to make item shops.

Time to fix this genre.

Well you should return to FFXI or start up LOTRO!  Both are very good games, and WAR is way off so u have time to enjoy either.

As far as F2P games not working!?!?!?  LOL  That idea is working so well, and they're making 100x more money than they did when their game was P2P.  I've played just about every F2P there is avail for extensive periods of time and all I hear running around is hundreds of players complaining when the shops close due to being patched or being upgraded to handle the amount of CC transactions, or ppl demanding other players that have an CC to buy something for them and then pay them in IN-game currency!

Who these ppl are?  Well I don't understnad the use of a cash shop all that much myself as I prefer to earn everything on my own, but anyway they work and extremely well.

Think about it like this.....u had maybe 10,000 players in ur game paying the monthly fee{Lets say it was $10 a month}.  When u switched to the F2P model you now suddenly have 100k players that wanted to try ur game but didn't want too uder the P2P model due to being skeptical of the style/look of the game!

So that was $100,000 u made a month from paying customers, then suddenly under a F2P method u add a piece of armor that is way cooler looking than anything else in the game and since gamers these days like sets of gear and being as different as possible...well say that 1 piece of armor cost each person $7.00 and think that say 20k players buy that.... BAM u just made $140,000 on a piece of armor that took 5 min to make, next week add another piece of that gear to make u even better looking for another $7.00.  Say those same 20k players buy that also...BAM another $140,000  then say 5k other players saw that gear in the last week and they liked it so much that they go buy both pieces...BAM another $70,000

So in the course of 2 weeks time u now have made $350,000 dollars in 2 weeks opposed to only $100,000 u'd have made in 1 month via the P2P method.  Oh and whats that, there are still 4 more pieces of armor to be released.  Not saying all those same ppl will keep buying that set of gear, buy u should get where this is going.

I've been keeping up with the MMO world for over 10 yrs and in the past 3 since the Asian market discovered how popular the cash shops where, 98% of all the P2P games that existed suddenly changed to F2P.

Micro Transactions are the way to go, now if its mainly just a means to make urself look better than another player and not a means to get much better gear a non-paying player can't eventually earn...I don't mind it.

Dude that was TMI.  I offered a game with minimal investment. I also know you have not played Dungeon Runners. DR does not have  a FTP Shop. DR is addicting and a good feel. You can always get right into the action. The community is decent. There is always something to do. WAR is to be released June 16th in my area. Which is only a couple months off. DR is a great game to pass a couple of months or a great game if your time is limited.

So just cause there in no cash shop I havn't played the game!  LOL

DR does have an option for P2P that costs $4.99 a month....not as similar to a cash shop since there advertisment is stuff that drops in the game, but a normal player can't use unless they have a paying account!

...but they still make additional money for users that are inticed to switch to a pay method when they see something neat they can't use.  I actually quit playing after like lvl 25 or something cause I was tired of getting drops of all this crap I couldn't use.

So the difference between a p2p mmorpg and a ftp/p2p mmorpg is?

I wrote an article on how to find a new MMORPG on my website (Listed below). It seems you have a decent experience in a broad array of games. My suggestion is decide what do you like most about MMOs. This usually barrels down to if you prefer PvP or PVE. Once you do that, its a lot easier to narrow the field of choices. A lot of gamers are also in the "IM burnt out of WoW" stage and are finding that going retro to games they once played is a great experience.

    Good Luck
