It depends... I liked SWG when it first was released.  About 2-3 months later  I had to force myself to play it.  It began to feel like torture.  image  Game could be better now... doubt it though  knowing the dev's of that game.

    NO IS NOT WORTH IT!!!!!

    SWG=REALLY BAD CLONE OF AO

Theres nothin to do on this game other than doin stupid missions which are search and destroy and thats all.  I prefer AO than this crap.

Oh and another question that u should ask yourself about SWG : When did Lucas Arts ever made a good star wars game?? Cause' from all the star wars game that there are only jedi knight seres and shadows of the empire where good but the other star wars games suck.

Dont get me wrong, I love AO.... but after playing newer games   AO hurts my eyes a little.

Wish they would of upgraded the nano visual effects and character models  instead of makeing shadowlands.

AO was lower graphics then all these new games, yet can get laggier then any other game I've played after playing for several hours without rebooting.     Still think its better then SWG and alot of other games though.

BTW, might as well get SWG... if you get it now  and are like alot of us, you will be getting sick of the game just around the time WoW comes out. image

It is a good time filler .

It is dead easy to master your skills and gaining experience is easy. Also once you got a hang of the controls its very newbie friendly.

In short this is one of the few mmrpg that begging is totally out of place because of how easy it is to get money.

Would not recommend it for more then a few months though.

14 day free trial... answer it yourself.

Actually the good points are in the 3 months till WoW you will have pretty much exhausted the game play of SWG, actually it might be tough to last 3 months....

  • GrimReapezGrimReapez Member Posts: 463

Why does everyone asume i havent played SWG. I have actually played SWG for 1 month, but feel that someone who has played longer would have a different view on the game then i do.

OMG SOMONE HELP MY INTELLIGENNZZT DROpZorD t0 t3h 0ZOrz1!

You dumb ass AO has missions all the same but in a stupid ass building.. (dont get me wrong i like AO lol) That my friends is what they call a pathetic post. To me SWG is the best MMO out there at the moment in gameplay, graphics, content ect... what content you ask, if you do ask i will list it like i did before..

EDIT: okay let me add a litte more... You dont just have search and distroy. You have delivery missions (aka Fedex) Entertainer missions (entertain this place and you get xp and money) BH mission terms (assasination i guess). AO? what? mission term and team mission? lol right... ( still love AO ;D)

I have been playing SWG for coming up on 1 yr now. i still enjoy it.  part of what makes it fun is the community.. ive played serveral MMO's and well im happiest so far with SWG  there have been alot of changes lately overall...one is with npc's they now use special attacks and switch between weapons. making seek and destroy missions alot mor fun. and the ability to go down any path and try everything is great. i enjoy going from one profession and trying another...gameplay well SWG is easy. one of the easiest ones to just jump right in and go...graphics are nice...content is been added constantly, ya they have put off some of the needed major revamps but they have been pushing alot of the smaller issues and balancing out since the last publish. i see that its on its way up and am looking forward to JtL and the continued gameplay that i will be doing...even after WoW comes out...dont get me wrong ill defenitly grab WoW how could i pass it up...but SWG is a game to diffently play abit longer.

Say what you will AO is the game that sux.If anything is repetitive its AO.I know i played it for well over a year.If the devs on SWG would get it together and embrace the concept of civil war it would be a good game.

I really hate the fact that they gave in to the community on this jedi issues. They should have stuck to their guns.Sure perhaps the system to become one was not in at launch but from what ive heard the jedi's are everywhere.

Id rather have just a small number with the ability to "mask"their abilities until used.

    Want to ENJOY an mmo?

Dont start a guild and dont be a leader or volunteer to be coleader or captain.

    Just play the damn game:)

how can u dare compare ao to swg ................. ao has content ..........has  a community ............has working quests .............has NO afkers ................... i've tried swg 2 times .......... and all i saw was grinders and afkers ........... made me so mad ........... back in ao now ..... and having fun everytime i log on ...

  • GfunkingGfunking Member Posts: 1

Umm IF wow is what your waiting for then i would have to say NO don't bother as i find that SWG is one long boring exp grind with very little else to do. It could be fun if they did something to fix PVP (rebels vss Imps) however with no sighs of that coming till Jump to light speed. Its not worth the time as WOW and/or EQ2 will be out at r before JTL.

    Swg:

     has content (debateable)

has a communtiy (a great one)

has tons of different types of working quests (haven't had one fail on me in months)

has afkers, yes, but will be rid of them soon (finally the devs fix their hologrind mistake)

tried AO twice, first time couldn't even get in when the game first came out, now I see alot of grinders trying to get to level 200+. After I got to level 10 on 3 different characters in a few hours, I decided the game wasn't for me since every mission I went on was the same thing: an instanced set of rooms in a building where you kill guys and loot them and items and then you sell the stuff you loot so that you can go and get better stuff to do more instanced missions

that just turned me off to the game

back to swg where I'm having fun every time I log on image

I have been playing SWG since release and although its a wonderful concept and the graphics look nice it is very boring and out of balance. I should also mention poorly designed from the start and the developers keep pushing fixes and balances back in favor of working on the expansion. If it were up to me, I would fix the base game first before making an expansion but is seems not to be the case.

I worked hard to become a Bounty Hunter in the early days and it was over powering compared to others, so they took so much away from it there was little chance at defeating your enemy. Same with Commando, same with Creature Handler. Most recently they added weapon switching and armor delays. That means I can no longer use my fencer dizzy and then switch to TK for knock down like before. Among other "nerfs" and it does not stop with combat. Now they are threating to criple merchants and buisnesses by limiting how vendors are used. The cap they speak of is absurd and people are fuming over it. Maybe they will double it... who knows... at this point I would suggest not giving them any money only to play a broken game and get frustrated. Although it is fun for the first few months till you see how out of whack the PVP is and how truly boring and dull it actualy turns out to be. 15$ a month chat room it is mostly in my eyes at this point.

SWG is a good game, you could really enjoy it, but why are you looking at a sci fi MMORPG to try to hold you over til WoW, a fantasy MMO? You will just beg etting into the beef of SWG when WoW comes out. I would recommend hitting some free ones or a dirt cheap one til Wow comes out, it isnt that far off. There are games beside MMO's as well heaven forbid. Morrowind can keep you entertained for a year if you dont power game it, and there are others. I did a review on SWG if you want to get an idea of it based on playing the trial, you can see it here: http://www.mmorpg.com/discussion.cfm/load/forums/loadforum/433/loadthread/19569/setstart/1/loadclass/103
