Communication on the 360??

Conan is coming out on the 360 as well as the PC. The console version is more appealing to me because the directional combat system would work better with a control stick then W,A,S,D keys. What I am confused about is how will you communicate with the players? Headsets? What about the PC players and how will console players be able to use the chat channels and city channels? Will we have to use the control stick to move it letter by letter for 5 minutes until 1 sentence is done? Whoever knows what the console version will do to deal with this issue it would be well appreciated if it would be posted here.

Sorry if this is some stupid question that everyone knows the answer to but me.

I can only speak from what I know of FFXI (which was released for PS2 and PC) and in that game, at least the people I played with who were playing on a PS2 said that they got themselves a Keyboard for the PS2 and even a mouse. So they could control their chracter using Gamepads but could otherwise manage the game more or less exactly like on PC, chatting and everything. I'm not sure if this is the way AoC will go, but it would make sense.

    Hope that helps.

So basically it's the same thing as the PC except it will be played on a TV. Still might be worth it since my comp. probably doesn't fit the specs.

No no...you will be able to use the Console's controller. The keyboard is just for added functionality and chatting I would think. Pretty sure it will work this way, but of course I can't say it's fact. Just me speculating on what I experienced in another Console/PC Cross-Platform MMO.

And if PC users want to use the x-box control they can always hook it up to their pc if they have a controler

How's that? The Xbox 360 controller is completely wireless and needs to be near the Xbox to turn on.

You can always get a game pad made for the pc and use it to play the game.  For all we know, they might support multiple peripherals and other interesting input devices.

No required quests! And if I decide I want to be an assassin-cartographer-dancer-pastry chef who lives only to stalk and kill interior decorators, then that's who I want to be, even if it takes me four years to max all the skills and everyone else thinks I'm freaking nuts. -Madimorga-

You can use this...seems pretty simple to me. And, as far as making your Xbox 360 controller work on your computer all you need is this.

Umm no I have the one with wire, not all of them are wireless, I have one of the first generation 360s.  Plus the wireless ones can be hooked up the same way wireless mouse can on PC.  I use my 360 controller for many games on the PC.

Last I read.. isn't this topic the reason why the 360 version is getting delayed?

    http://multiplayerblog.mtv.com/2008/02/18/funcom-still-wants-age-of-conan-on-xbox-360-but-controller-remains-biggest-obstacle/

Personally I don't know why they don't just ship it with a keyboard mouse until they figure it out.. I don't want to wait until next year :(

Its nothing to do with that blog at all. There is a dev statement on the official forums to the contrary.

Gaute (Game Director) has said before the Xbox360 will follow after the PC release and this will be a while after. So expect at least prob 7-10 months in my opinion. Besides they are recruiting programmers for the Xbox version - its no where near complete: http://funcom.easycruit.com/intranet/oslo/vacancy/160288/27115?iso=gb
