Si i thought i would give this game a try again after upgrading my Computer and it is telling me it is gonna take 9 hours to update? WTF!! 9 hours i probably wont last that long in game lol dont get me wrong from what i have played i liked but my pc was crap so i quit now im keen to give it another go and they want me to wait 9 hours to play the damn thing? Surely they have a better way to update it? Do they?

ok update after like 25 mins of downloading i am up to 19 hours till update finishes? does any 1 know if there is an manual patch i can download or something? cause this is just plain rediculous.

Took me about 12 hours to update. It's a huge game.
Dude if you are unable to put up with the patch time i doubt you will enjoy the game so do youself a favor and press cancel now you will be saving us all too, if you moan about such a small thing like this then you will also be moaning in game too.
Go back to wow they need you more.

Dont bother. During this year the game will be dead and servers will be ghost towns.
And what have the mmo developers learned? Yes they have learned not to release unfinished games. Maybe the community needed this wake up call.
I agree. Cancel the patch now.
Long patch times are part of life in a lot of games, if you can not just set it up to do it over night then perhaps you are being just a little impatient and therefore you may not be the type of person who enjoys this game because it is a game that does take "time".
The game itself is fun, in a lot of ways. It is not WoW and it does not try to be. It is an original fantasy world that offers something closer to the EQ vision but with a lot of modern advances.
I have only played it for about two weeks but it is a decent game. Expect it to take time to patch though.
I downloaded the game manually (not from the launcher) from the Vanguard website, and the patching looks like it's only going to take about 1.5 hours. Thats why I'll never try downloading the game from the launcher again.
Update only took me about 3 1/2 hours. Not a big deal.
I let it patch over night it took around 9 hours. I have played this title before but have recently upgraded my Pc so i had to do a clean re-install just kinda turned me off a little seeing how long the patch was gonna take but i guess im over the patch issue for now i played it this morning for about 20 min to test my new PC b4 i went to work, i Ran it on Ultra High settings without a hitch so i think i have found my new game untill Aion is out i like this style of game more than WoW i only go back to Wow to kill some time and to have a break from other games so i dont get burnt out on them.
May I suggest... Ritalin?
I'm downloading the patch right now... 5 hours... are you f'ing kidding me? "long patch times are a part of games" Yeah... no I don't think so this is just rediculous... And using 20 GB of HD space... the game really isn't THAT pretty.
Edit: Normally when I get a game I expect to play it the same day... I'm not going to get to with Vanguard... hour and a half install... 5 hour update... 6.5 hours just to play a game is crap.
The machine that's doing the Downloading of the patch is on a dedicated T1.
Then something obviously is seriously wrong with that one. Fix it.

It's Sony side... can't fix it. Let me tell you about how quickly the entire WoW client downloads... Not interested? How about the EVE Online Premium client? Lighting fast? Yeah something like that...
Sony... Make your Vanguard patch server serve files faster!
Alot of people doesnt have that problem. I install and patch in 2h up to 2½h. That is with 8Mbit.
It is not faster in WoW, nor in EVE.
But apperantly you will have a shorter D/L with faster internet connection, even with SOE, and if you think your T1 is not used fully. Check if everything is correct.
