I just finished reading over all the potential MMORPG's for me to get soon. As soon as I saw AoC I didnt even continue looking. This game is unbelievable. I have watched Beta on YouTube and everything and this game BLOWS all the others out of the water. This game will be so big it will be as if WoW never existed. (And yes I was an avid WoW player and loved the game... sometimes anyways.)
The most rediculous game I saw was Warhammer Online.... HOW in the world would that game have hype? Did anyone see the PvP videos... hahahahahah complete joke IMHO.
Finally a game with REAL people and REAL combat. No more fake fantasy BS and no more auto attack bullcrap.
#1 reason I know I will love this game = PvP and PvE is gonna take some SKILLS... The way it looks in the PK videos the person with the better gear doesnt ALWAYS win like in other games. So much skill is gonna be involved here and that is what I LOVE.
#2 reason I know I will lvoe this game = The community is gonna be spectacular. Interaction with each other and hunting and exploring this HUGE world with your in game friends will be a blast.
I am so psyked for this game to come out.

They have footage of the game on YouTube... if you are somewhat intelligent you can see which are legit videos put together by actual people who have played the game.
I watched 3 tutorials on Mounts, Rangers, and Melees that were phenomenal. I also saw 2 or 3 legit Pking videos even though they were extremely low lvls.
let me know when you find some pvp with more than 4x4 and some live sieges with a good amount of players. My concern is with performance...since i have already concluded crafting is BLAH i am hoping for at least good combat and performance
Dude, you have to watch the videos on youtube. It says everything about the game. If you can't digest watching a video and actually experience how fun/involved the gameplay is you must have some sort of mental deficiency.
Can you imagine a guy saying that he thinks a game looks Unreal based off of videos he has watched, since he actually isnt playing yet. Who would make such a leap.

Never form an opinion about a game til youve played it. Its like food, it may look good, but that doesnt guarantee it tastes good.
This game is so overhyped it makes me cringe, with all that pressure I suspect a lot of people will be disappointed. I hope not, Id like to see them follow through on some of those promises, however Vanguard made me leary of promises made vs actually delivery.
Youtube vidoes mean nothing to me, you can find Darkfall videos on there too, look how well thats going.
Id suggest a more tempered approach, as opposed to overyly hyped psychobilly freak out.
Then you don't know Funcom, the game could be the best EVER the first 6 months but its THEIR expansions that will kill this game.
Knowing Funcom they will probably have a Space type expansion added to AOC within the first 1 1/2 year... Sorta like what they did to Anarchy Online when they added Shadowlands (EQ1.5) and ran most of their player base away which forced them to make the game free soon after.
Anyways in response to the OP, I think the game will be pretty decent, in the begging anyways. But I would not use the term "Unreal" just yet. From what I have seen the combat is rather, blah.. But everything else appears to be pretty damn good.
I hope your right about requiring skill though, im so sick of games that go by what your wearing not what you can do.

A space type expansion in AoC? Errr....why the heck would you think that?
All right, if you fear they might make some mistakes in expansions, that is a valid concern of yours and obviously, we will have to wait and see how that works but why would FC even consider doing -anything- Space related in AoC???

And to toss a bit of your own medicine back at you, how can you tell AoC Combat will just be button-mashing just from watching youtube vids?Seriously though, if you could answer my question, I would appreciate it.

I dont think it will even dent the world of warcraft machinery. It has limited itself by its requirements, and no matter what, there will always be people like me, that are more than skeptic when it comes to their combat mechanics.
And being the "mature" game that it is, it is quite funny that their marketing is all visual bling bling, when the mature crowd would rather have some hard facts. I admit thats a personal assumption but the bling bling would work better for the imature - knowing that bling bling isnt what makes a mmorpg successful.
Skepticism is healthy in this line of gaming genre, and makes the game that much better if it actually turns out to be a success.

Well seriously, what do you/him expect? He's a new account (probably an alt) with 2 whole posts, so he lack credibility right from the start. Predictions that this game will be bigger than WOW ever was? Yeah, right, lets hope for 500K subs and call it a win.
Then the OP goes on to toss a hard slam at Warhammer, when he really knows nothing about either game other than a few videos on Youtube, again, a lack of credibility and of course begs for a bit of flaming.
Now I agree, the combat does sound more interesting than most, but its just button mashing in the end, and don't kid yourself, good gear will definitely give you an edge, as in any game.
Finally, predictions about how good this community is going to be is a bit premature. We have no way of knowing whether the "M" rating will really bring an older (but not necessarily more mature) audience. It could have the opposite effect.

Yes, it will be a decent game and I hope with no fail at start, I don't see any other game for me on horizont. I think it's unreal in terms of graphic in mmorpg and some other aspects.
BK is the brake point of this game for me.
Let's wait and see what Fucom code for us.
I think Spellborn is going to be my choice for a "skill" based MMO.
I like the art direction better, we know for a fact that gear you wear means nothing but for looks, I've seen the videos of the game in action and real time dodging + skill wheel and stuff looks smooth and fast/fun.
I dunno..
AoC looks to have some great things going for it, and i'm definetly interested to try it out...
But since this thread started from someone watching videos on Youtube,
I'd say that based SOLEY on the videos I have seen, Spellborn will be a better / more skill based experience then AoC.
