Dragon Empires. Anyone remember ?

Its main focus was player versus player clan action to take control of 50 cities in five empires within its world.

It's a shame that they canceled it, because it would have good potential as an PvP MMOG . Unfortantly I were never accepted in the beta, so could people who did share there experience ?

i'd love to be in that fight there.. never heard of this game before. But just out of curiosity, how did it get cancelled? Companys unable to work with each other, lazy devs, etc?

The server didn't work correctly like 50% of the time.  Another 30% the AI Server crashed.  The remaining 20% it failed to meet any of the goals of the project.

Technical stuff could always get fixed. They cancelled it because there was no interest in it....

I remember the official boards only had like 10 people browsing it. It was dead.

PvP MMORPG's don't sell good enough with the exception of someothning like EVE online..

I didnt play it but here's wiki's info

    en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dragon_Empires

On 3 September 2004 Codemasters announced that they had ceased game development citing technical issues.

Three days later, Dragon Empires producer Gary Dunn explained that their server code was incapable of supporting the number of clients expected for a massively multiplayer game.

This prompted a six-week review of the game's viability, which found that the cost to fix the difficulties would be high and the decision was made instead to cancel the title. [6] [7]

A classic case of putting the cart before the horse.  Their tech people were that bad, that they were making a MMO that couldn't support a massive amount of players;)

I remember this game, thought of it not too long ago. I never got a chance to try it and it seemed to smothered in the craddle before having a chance. Seems to me yet another game that could of been that we'll never hear from again, while being drowned in look a likes that don't have a single original thing about them.

I really wish they'd take up the development on this game again..  I remember reading about being able to have bounty hunting as a profession. I still dont get why they havent added a major bounty hunting system to any of the large MMOs yet
