Well i see age of conan getting big hype as it looks to be promising game but will it take down wow will it be the next big thing what do you think ? whats your opinion ?

As much a fan of AOC i am.
Why will it not be next big thing / WOW
1. Hardware requirements ( i read in one of GDC rants , that graphic should be DX7 for a game to have true multimass appeal)
2. Mature rating
3. Complex and complicated
4. Brutal non cartoony violence

Basically the things that make this game No1 choice for serious mature gamer , make it less multimass appealing .
This does not mean the game will not be succes - because it will be !
But it will not attract 9 million users , that I can tell you right now
I don't find that bad at all. I'm sure it will be a success though, enough so it is viable and has all the support to go on for many years
I think it will depend on how flexible the game settings are,and whether it can run on mid range PCs or not.
LOTRO was very scalable in settings,you could run it looking amazing with full dx10,or scale it right down to low and make it look like shadowbane.
If people think they cant run it,theyre unlikely to even bother trying it. If the game runs badly on high end PCs,again I think people will leave.
The actual game itself is looking to be a big winner though,I wasnt interested at first but now I think it looks great and am looking forward to May 20th.
I think a lot, posibility millions will jump on this game on release, people are starving for a new MMO, A lot are sick of WOW, but comfortable there because they know everything, lots of good equipment, and lots of money, but a lot of them will jump ship by now anyway.
People are trying to decide on AoC or Warhammer but almost all will jump on the first to be released, the ones that say they will only play Warhammer will be reading post and hype and wind up with AoC anyway including me, I know how you people are so I'm sure thats how it will go.
In my opinion, most will jump ship from AoC to Warhammer, AoC will be to restrictive because of the graphics and the mechanics of good graphics comes at a price, good graphics ( eye candy ) only takes you so far.
A lot will just use AoC to put there expensive computers to the test, I can't wait to see everyone posting screen shots and fooling them selfs telling how great it is.
When Warhammer is released it will start all over again, Most will read the hype, realize there not too far in AoC and jump ship.
Warhammer will ultimately win.
This is my OPINION thats all it is, everyone has one, so remember that before you bash, because thats all this site is for OPINIONS !
If this overhyped POS gets a million subscribers, I will be shocked.

Just few days ago i posted the link to interview with RED5 CEO (studio formed by some of the best Blizzard people) - he claims that a MMO that wants to have a true mass appeal should be running at DX7 , and should be running even on PC bought in Best Buy or Target ...whatever
If you really want 9-12 million subscribers that is .. hehe
AOC , even I that consider myself a gamer of sorts , can not run it with my current hardware , and will have to upgrade
So , like it or not AOC is a gamers MMO - and only people that bought PC's especially for Gaming will be able to play it comfortably.

No, it won't be WoW #'s but it will be the tip of the spear in wow's decline from that point on. There are many that refuse to play WoW. There are many in WoW that are chomping at the bit for anything that may take it's place. AoC will be a success and it will bleed away many accounts from WoW.
My guess from launch through first quarter for accounts is a total of 350-400k. After that?, ../shrug. But I seriously doubt it will be a 'one quarter wonder' like others.

Why dose every game have to get 9 millions subscribers to be successful now. The game is successful if it turns a profit for the company. Yes, I'm sure the company would like to have 9 millions subscribers, but not me. I see this game getting 200,000-350,000 in the first year. If they provided everything they promised.
I just hope this game isn't going to be hyped.. I'm really looking forward to this one..
