1. Great top notch awesome graphics
2. Awesome revolutionary PVP.
3. Great PVE, good ammount of quest and grouping.
Can conan honestly be the first mmorpg to offer to two different play styles? What im hearing is AoC will ultimatly be a ultra mix of UO/EQ/DAOC
Can they do it?
Comments
I dont know. Have to wait until it's released to find out.
I never believe in marketing. Only experience. Its a good thing to follow.
"This is not a game to be tossed aside lightly.
It should be thrown with great force"
Revolutionary PvP?
I don't think so. They certainly have given their PvP some purpose with taking and owning Battle Keeps that give your guild bonuses, sure. The ability to destroy the environment (walls and buildings), while not often used, isn't revolutionary.
Not knocking the game as I will be playing (and PvPing some), but I just don't see revolutionary PvP. I see a very good looking combat system, combat focused game that if everything stands the ultimate test (launch) will be a fun play.
"Many nights, my friend... Many nights I've put a blade to your throat while you were sleeping. Glad I never killed you, Steve. You're alright..."
Chavez y Chavez
the Revolutionary part is the way that you fight in this game. no more skill mashing
I hope that AOC can be that game. Often the more the hype the more the let down though. We shall see how this release goes. I will be waiting until a couple months after release before i buy i think, Vanguard taught me to be patient and see how the game is before i buy it.
AOC isnt my dream game but it did get me interested again when i wasnt sure anything would.
lol well VG also let SOE run there servers and then take over.. thats what ruined the game.. SOE servers suck
So instead of skill mashing....you now select a combo skill, then mash the direction buttons! Same damn thing, and it looks very boring!
I vote Vanguard II...
Kemih ~ 13 Red Mage | Currently playing FFXI & LOTRO, awaiting Warhammer Online & Aion...
WHAT? regardless of how much SOE servers may or may not suck that was the least of the problems with Vanguard of which there were many. Probably the only launch I've seen that was worse would belong to Anarchy Online.
Actually i think that what really ruined Vanguard was that the game that Sigil put on the SOE servers was an unfinished TURD.
SOE is actually making it better. Hopefully they will succeed, because again, games in the genre dying does the genre no good at all. It just makes others afraid to make an attempt.

Aww, don't blame Sigil...they made a beautiful game. It was that dumb-fuck Brad McQuaid that screwed everything up. The team at Sigil that built VG did an amazing job.....I really wish they would've been able to finish the job!

Ya, i guess i agree with that. And i actually still have hope for Brad, his game mind is genius, his leadership skills, not so good.

Agreed, I can't believe the hate and contempt of SOE by some people. People really need to get over the NGE/CU saga. VG today is 100x better than when it was Sigil. SOE deserves a lot of credit for turning that stinking heep of a MMORPG around. It isn't SOE's faulty that Sigil had arguably the most disfunctional management team ever assembled (tied with PE of course). SOE's servers ruined VG. LOL, funniest thing I've read on these forums the past two years.
Fear not fanbois, we are not trolls, let's take off your tin foil hat and learn what VAPORWARE is:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vaporware
"Vaporware is a term used to describe a software or hardware product that is announced by a developer well in advance of release, but which then fails to emerge after having well exceeded the period of development time that was initially claimed or would normally be expected for the development cycle of a similar product."
AoC looks promising, the unique combat system does make it even more interesting, how good is it really we will find out at launch. Even though I got burned by hyped games in the past, this one managed to get my hopes up.
They do nothing really new. Funcom just has a different approach to combat. If i was evil i could say they dont have combat arts because they are to lazy to balance items and skills
I do hope they have nothing from EQ and i wished they had a look at the social part of UO
I have pre-ordered the collections edition of this game so I hope that this will be the best MMORPG that I have ever been so lucky to experience.
And I have played some quite big MMO:s and some really small ones in this order:
Anarchy Online
Guild Wars
EverQuest II
World of Warcraft
Lineage II
Dark Age of Camelot
RF Online
and plenty of free to play MMO:s that I'm too embarrassed to mention.
I feel the exact opposite. What evidence have they shown exactly? They have a policy of never removing the nda until release, have not shown any live footage of more than a few real people on screen at once, pretty much all demos have been scripted. Still haven't seen any footage of live keep sieges, though we have been hearing that some real pvp footage was coming 'soon' for many months.
I guess I don't really understand your comment given that the vast majority of the game is under wraps and there is no real proof that performance is where it should be in real live situations. Not that it necessarily helps them - videos and opinions from real beta testers do still pop up on other sites (i wont name them) often, and they paint an entirely different picture than what funcom has told us. Which is why i certainly wont preorder until I see it for myself.
Waiting for: A skill-based MMO with Freedom and Consequence.
Woe to thee, the pierce-ed.
Grunties: I guess you live in a box or are blind, because there is plenty of evidence that core gameplay is there, we don't know much about readiness of the other features but look here and be enlightened if you are in doubt:
Big difference between real gameplay footage and marketting clips. I think you should look into finding some movies of the former, you may find your opinions change quickly.

Videos are enough to show it has (great) potential but only when it's released we can say for sure. And even then I will wait to see it for myself and not judge by other peoples experience. Only way to be sure
