I don't know if it was the community, or the horrible pvp in wow, but i've decided to leave it for another MMO.

Basically, I just like having fun in a rewarding group environment, and I LOVELOVELOVE to pvp, get my name out and have a good time ^_^ but, i do like really good pve with a nice group as well.

I also don't like playing catchup exactly, it gives me a burnt out feeling, and removes my motivation and some fun factor, so i've been thinking about waiting and trying out either Age of Conan, or Warhammer, maybe something else?

I really am bored out of my mind as of now at night without wow, anyone got any oppinions, or able to help me out? I just want a fun mmo.

the MMO pool is a bit stagnent  atm. Been trying to find a new MMO after WoW for about a year.

I've tried just about everything on the market right now, all last less than the free trial. Replacing WoW is something that won't happen, no matter how long you look, you can move on to another good game that fastens onto your soul like WoW, but never replace it.

Working through the korean grindfests myself as they're basicly the only things left that i havn't tried. Some of those are good, free too which is the silver lining. Might want to try Holic, Dekaron/2moons, Metin2 and Cabal. Decent games if you can work around the bugs.

Personally i'm holding out for Darkfall

*LordRelic on Age of Conan nudity: Why cant people leave this be? Yes there are boobs.. god smite the man who made them..oh wait.....
*Pandorra on Darkfall IRC: No one plays anything "like" anything right now.. we are all melee, ranger, mana missle casting noobs...
*<FBA> DF irc: im ready, got a stockpile of sugar free redbulls, carton of marlboro 27s and 4 pack of toilet paper, lets roll!

I have to agree with him.  I bought wow when it came out, I have quit (for about a year now) but it still calls to me.  I have not found anything that captures my heart like WoW did, never have i felt the same about a MMO.  I realize that WoW is simple, and shallow, but i don't care, its fun.  The thing is we need something new and refreshing, Darkfall would be nice, but lets get real :).  LOTRO was alright, but it was no WoW...then again the best part of WoW is the fact that my friends played it, so that helped me quite a bit.  If i could find a group of friends that played another MMO (besides the ones that play EVE, i cant stand that game) I'm sure I could commit to something.

yeah, I HAD one friend from the land of real life that played wow with me, which made it 10x better, but now it's just.. so.. bleh.

    you know?

Exactly, it was my friends that kept me playing.  Infact I found myself logging on JUST to talk to my friends, sad, but true.  Friends make a huge difference in games, because even if you're having a bad time they can usually cheer you up.  Not to mention if you need help they can help you.

yeah, we had several memories, both being rogues.. nobody could live through our double ambush for the longest time, we got people trapped in the yeti cave, and completely controlled world pvp.. complete and utter blast.

We're looking into age of conan pretty heavily, more leaning away from warhammer which we were looking into prior..

i wish I could see how necromancer will play out..

If PvP Is your thing, then you may wish to give DAOC or Guild Wars a try. Both pride themselves on Solid PvP. I know daoc has 14 days free and leveling in that game is very quick that you will easily be in the BGs and fighting before the trial is over

    Good Luck

Guildwars will keep you+friend occupied long enough, even if all you do is the PvE.  There are some unique areas in the game that are pretty fun to play through even though it's not the games main 'catcher'.

don't listen to any recommendations for EvE, since the whole game isn't about the 'good experience' but about the world.

and In before the topic move

I find it amazing that by 2020 first world countries will be competing to get immigrants.

I think i have found a consistant problem with ex WoW players and those type of games when it comes to people looking for a new game... The problem is you guys are all playing the same crap with different name type games. Try changing to a different style game all together.

I have played too many games, starting with UO beta and had my accounts till 06... While playing that i took many breaks to play otehr games, WOW was one of them... But i always went back. Finaly in 06 i gave up for good and was the best thing i ever done... I then started playing more games, again along the same likes of the same crap game with different Name. Till one day i got into playing sandbox games. Starting with RV beta... It changed gaming for me totaly, as now there was actual reason to raid soemone, and there was cons if you died as you lost all your crap, rather then having it magicly be insured.

I suggest you guys complaining that there is no other games to play to actually try out other games... and not the same korean type games either... Play indie games and some sandbox games you might just like it.

I suggest Wurm online if you care to take a look I added it to a game list thats on this forum here: http://www.mmorpg.com/discussion2.cfm/thread/152355/page/7

I usually suggest the same handful of games when a player wants to move from WoW.

First City Of Heros/Villains.  The gameplay is similar, but the structure is different and you will find the act of making your supervillain or superhero worth every dime of the initial 30 or so bucks to buy it.  Trust me.  Even if you do not stay with the game...its an experience I think everyone would enjoy doing at least once.

Next:  EQ2 OR Lord of the Rings.  Both of these are cut from the same cloth as WoW, and you will jump in and be comfortable with the controls quickly.  Both are also well developed IP's with good story and some very nice game elements.

Last:  Branch FAR away from the WoW model.  Try EVE or something else that is removed from the game design of WoW.  Fallen Earth is coming soon...and will be a good ideal to check out.  EVE is probably the only major one right now that is making good money and getting good support.  You might also check out Anarchy Online...as its about to receive a GFX update and has a very interesting skill system.

If you want to leave the pay to play model...I can suggest a small handful of Free MMO's to play until something else comes out to strike your fancy.

Perfect World:  I have yet to get into this game...because I keep having issues in the download.  Many others have, though, and its been received VERY well.

Dream of Mirror Online:  Awesome class system....you can cross class tons of skills and make your own personal breed of character.  The art is very nicely done for Cel-Shading..and I found most of the gameplay to be very fun and worth my time.

Shayia:  I think its still in beta...but the game is very good.  Tons of quests....fluid gameplay, and the similarity to WoW controls is great for a player like you.  The UI even has some elements that WoW could use.  For instance...you can see from the world map locations of both all available quest givers AND available quest turn-ins.  Its VERY helpful for plotting your course and maximizing your time.  Very fun game, VERY fun.

I hope I helped, and I wish you the best.  I've played nearly every MMO out at this point....so many that I'm numb to most of the things many of you enjoy.  The ones I've listed either stood out to me personally...or stood out to the community as a whole.  Even if I'm not amazed...I'm open minded enough to acknowledge when many others are.
