Recently I've been out of the loop with most MMORPG's, my last two, and only experiences being Asherons Call 2; and Star Wars Galaxies. I only played them for around a month or two, but quit for various reasons, partly because of the game but partly because I didn't have the time.
But I do now. I've got the time to spare so I've decided to start up with a new MMORPG, but I've no idea which one to start. I'm interested in quite a few, but don't particularly feel like starting up one of the old school MMORPG's such as Everquest.
Anyway, I just signed up after looking for some MMORPG info (great site you guys have here), and just wondered what you think might be a decent MMORPG for me to start up.
Couple I'm interested in
City of Heroes - The Comic thing is a big plus.
Lineage II - I enjoyed AC2 despite some of the issues, and the fantasy theme interests me.
That's it really.. But I'm no where near decided, so if anyone could suggest a few, or give opinion on those, with a few reasons It'd be appreciated.
Cheers guys!

Thought Lineage 2 was a bit boring, due to a heavy level grind, and the cost of items.
I personally think Daoc has treated me the best so far, and if you have the time, it's plenty of fun.
I also highly recommend Anarchy Online. Takes a bit to master the game, but it is definately one of the most fun. I would play it over DaoC if not for the Fantasy setting .
Never played lineage 2, but the reviews from most user around good. I heard its ruined by botters and farmers.
CoH is good if you are looking for something simple with nearly no character development. All characters look different because the character creation is very good. But, they all play the same when you choose your skills, as everyone are taking the same skills.
You might like it. Then again, like me, you might not. But there is no free trial, so its kinda lame...
fantasy themed mmo's: prolly DAoC or EQ
City of Heroes- i got bored after a month, but was a very fun game for me, but didn't last long.
Lineage 2- i would stay away from this one, a very severe level grind, but maybe thats what ya want
space sim type, EVE is great, but a very stee[ learning curve< BUT, i seen you played SWG, it is NOTHING like SWG, just letting you know>
Ok, I would NOT play Lineage II if I where you unless want a MMORPG that is very limiting as far as your avatar's looks and game play (if you are a mage, there are no utility spells only attack & defense spells). It is very much a level grind. To the point of all there is to do is level to get better stuff so you can level to get better stuff so you.......
If you can weight, World of Warcraft & EverQuest II look good
Thanks for all the replies guys, and yeah, I think the level-grinding has pretty much put me off of Lineage II; I've heard this comment from many, just checking.
City of Heroes is still an option though, I'm open to a short, or long experience with an MMORPG and wouldn't mind trying another one after it. So the longtivity of the game isn't really much of an issue for me.
However, Anarchy Online does sound appealing, and I heard there was recently an expansion? What's the general feel of the game, what makes it fun to play?
Thanks again.

What made AO appealing to me was the helpful community, and the ability to customize any class to a certain extent. All the classes have the same skill bases, but train easier in each depending on race and class. Also, I found it easy to just pick up and solo for an hour or two with the mission system, or join a group for hours.... The faction aspect makes it interesting, and really does have an effect on overall gameplay and experience.
What it boils down to for me, in a nutshell, is the following: player-base = on the boards and in the game, it actually feels like a war a lot of times; tons of weapons = great choice, although there are still the cookie cutter favorites ; Down time = with every level of player having access to first aid and nano healing kits, there is little downtime. Feel = With nightclubs, burger stands, and all sorts of other goodies, it has a nice overall feel.
Please note, as much fun as i have had in AO, I am still on the fence with it and DaoC. I only want to play one, and haven't decided. I only say that because otherwise I might sound like a die-hard Ao fan. I really enjoy Rp, and with the decline of that in DaoC, AO looks more and more appealing.
i would advice you playing runescape. it's a great game with nice graphics.
there are lots of thing to do like mining, fishing, cooking,...
This could be boring but it isn't........It's ur choice
Try EVE online
2 weeks for fre and no credit card up front
People who have to create conspiracy and hate threads to further a cause lacks in intellectual comprehension of diversity.
I too give Eve-online the plug It is though to get used to but it's well worth the effort in the end. The thrill of the hunt, your jumping from moon to moon, planet to gate hoping they can't find your defenseless pod to finish off. but the sounds of interceptor engines draw nere...
