A game about create things (more complex than usual crafting)

AtrusVAtrusV Member UncommonPosts: 305

I am looking for a game that is not combat oriented. It may have combat of course, but i want to do other things and have fun in the process.

Think about it like a mix of crafting in EVE Online with the main focus in that aspect like A Tale in the Desert III

PS: It's important that it doesn't have crappy graphics.

PS2: And, with a good tutorial (not depending on a wiki or something so "casual")

if you understand atleast a tiny bit of programming, texturing, artsiness, and/or marketing.  you won't ever be able to beat second life till a competitor comes along.

there are about 15 or so communities that are RP based, and have fighting in them.   so once you get ahold of the weapon scripts, and sometimes permission to use them.  you can make pretty much any weapon you could want to(I made a sword that looked perfectly normal but made the rain guard backwards(basically it looked fine but it looked wrong to 50% of people like something was off),  and even made a few spells(these took custom scriptwork by me but I got a basic attack shard and a few AoEs)).

but even if you don't go the RP route(dreadfully over crowded with scripters and crafters) you could pretty much make a bit of cash on the side if you have the abilities(I haven't logged on in a few months so the project that get me a comission on sales have put about $17 worth of linden cash in my account),  or be an artisan class type person(those that can build and script are actually respected) and get some slightly amusing attention for it.

I find it amazing that by 2020 first world countries will be competing to get immigrants.

As opposite to all grinding and linear mmo's last years I can recommend you Vanguard. Graphics is realy beautiful  and there are nice introduction quests about any of the 3 spheres in the game.  You can enjoy the game very long time without kill even one mob because there are another 2 spheres in addition to adventuring - crafting and diplomacy that are really complex so you can improve your skill in that spheres everyday without become bored. Also all of the 3 aspects of the game (adventure, crafting, diplomacy) offer a real opportunity to explore this beautiful world where you will remember every part of the this huge open world (in opposite to WoW). As Vanguard logo says: "Feel yourself free". Also game become very polished a year after release in contrast of his fault start.

Where themepark games try to hide that they are copying WOW, games like Mortal Online and Darkfall make no attempt to hide their inspiration

Wurm Online is as complicated and involved as it gets. The graphics are not of a triple AAA MMO, but they are decent enough to act as a basis for the crafting.

Maybe i'll try Vanguard, but i have heard that it has a low population of players.

PS: I have tried Wurm long time ago and i didn't like it

Wurm long time ago and wurm now are very different :)  Then it was a work in progress... Now it still is but the game play is patched up very nicely. I will also suggest it that for what you are looking for a 2nd try for free may be worth your time.

    Good luck.

In my opinion, the worse thing about Wurm Online is....

    http://mmorpg.com/gamelist.cfm/gameId/129/setView/screens/display/1151

The incredible bad texturized stick-man. Seriously, is this a man or a moob?

It would aid you on your quest to find recent screenshots of the game.

    Blessings,

btw, check it out again. I was in your same boat. I played it a long time back and recently came back and I'm having a blast.

    MMO migrant.

Good lord are those screenies still in mmorpg.com wurm page? That might be one of the reasons why not many people even look at it...

That screenie is too old to even talk about. Although the new chars are still not the best they are sure as hell better then that... In the works is full avatar customization, and since animations were put in about a month ago things are starting to look and feel much better rahter then the stick figure feel you are talking about.

Anyway, moving a bit further along, i reccomended the game because wurm is the type of game you were asking for, I as well have played too many games and this is the only one that can fit into the description of what you are looking for.

Good luck though hope you do check it out again.
