Hey all, latest announcement has me wanting to come back. I want to start right from the beginning as a burgler. I tried one after release but they seemed to weak and slow. I only made one to ten, then switched to a LM and GDN and CPT getting to 20's at least with each.
I like thief / burgler / ninja type avatars. Sneaking, stealth, mass crits, bows from the shadows..
Does the Burg play anything like that now? Can they solo? Are they in demand? Can a burg become a master bowman?
Thanks.

Hrm, I'm completely opposite this, and absolutely dislike this type of class, so I couldn't tell you. However when I do get out and group, many times Burglar have been a grand help.

My class is a burg and they are kick-ass. Can solo , group , the whole ball of wax.
PVP they rock. Not because thats my class but its true.
Great traits and a overall well class but harder to play.
Can they use bows? Crits? At what level did you really feel the class came into its own?
No, they can't use bows. All their attacks/skills are up close and personal. Most of their dps relies on crits, as you progress you get a longer chain of attacks that only opens with a crit.
Hard to say when it really comes into its own, most people tend to say 30+. Certainly further than you tried at any rate
Crit chance and evade is what the burg uses.
Neither higher then 25%
Burglar cannot use any kind of ranged weapon (Weird yeh). You won't deal very high damage as a burglar either. Burglar is not DPS and noone expect him to be one in a group. He has a weak messmerize ability (altho with instant cast), and a very high survivability soloing, but also in groups. In addition the sneaking can be improved by a lot with items and traits, and eventually can become almost undetectable and explore very dangerous places.
REALITY CHECK
The thing is , there is literaly a ton of " O shit" powers that make it impossible for the burg to die.
And he does do a decent amount of dmg when behind your target.
As a burg i pull aggro off almost all the classes except the hunter and somtimes i do to the champ.
Burglars are popular fellowship members because they have the ability to start fellowship maneuvers, also their debuffing skills come in handy as well. My GM has a level 50 character of every class and he uses the burglar which he made last, to play as his main. He says this class is the most fun to play. If you're a fan of PvP, stealther groups can be fun as well.
For range pulling, they best use Addle, which is a debuff.
And hobbit burglars can also throw stones.
Burglars are always joy to have in the Fellowship.
In PVP my burg was like at 300 kills 0 deaths lol.

Hmm, judging by the comments here, this sounds like my type of class. Thanks all, I think I'll enjoy the class, long as I have the patience to get into the low 30s with him. I am guessing Hobbit is the way to go? Something tells me a burg ought to be a Hobbit...
Ive tried all classes and burglars are by far the best with lore master a way behind second.
Well , not fair to paint the burg all that pink and roses like.
I play burglar , only burglar. This is the class i chose - when lotro came out , i said: I must be hobbit burglar.
But are there down sides ?
Yes...
Burglar level slowly , you are among slowest killers , when people look for group they ask for either healer or tank or dps ... and a random. Burglars are random.
So what are the up sides ?
You have more skills than fingers on hands and feet .Burglar is defeated only if he falls asleep ( lol , my party was once wiped by a high instance boss ( Ivar the Bloodhand ) 3 times in a row. My burg was only to survive and wait for them to return 3 times...on the end he killed the boss and was the only survivor) Burgs can go anywhere they want and not be seen , and lastly they are so deadly in PVP , turbine had to nerf them ....
Basically, on a Hobbit you get throw stone, which gives you a low damage ranged attack you can pull with (very nice for a burg) and a feign death style ability. Allow you to dump all aggro once an hour. Hobbits also get stealth, which is great for most classes but obviously redundant on a burgler.
A human gets a small damage bonus with swords (if I remember right) and 3000 moral heal once an hour. On a burgler that's pretty much a full heal once and hour. Also the great majority of burgs are hobbits, so you'd be a bit rarer.
So neither race will suck. However, if you are any kind of fan of the books I'd go with hobbit (personally).
I don't want to write this, and you don't want to read it. But now it's too late for both of us.
What bmj said here is key. The Burglars ability to start fellowship maneuvers alone, in numerous ways I might add, make him a key addition to any fellowship. I can't count how many times his ability to start an FM so that we could refill our power bar has saved us in a dungeon.
Truly a must have class, but also especially fun for PvP for obvious reasons.
