IGG has posted the final part of their look behind the scenes at the design process and ideas behind Zu Online.
Today we bring players the final part in our discussion with the Zu team about their new game Zu Online.
With all the time the developers have spent ensuring a landscape awash in color, detail and life, it could be forgiven if there was a lack of effort in other areas. However, with Zu this is not the case, as they spent as much time perfecting one area as they did any other area. One place where this can clearly be seen is the character designs. Because they are always changing and could possibly have an infinite number of positions and expressions they present a particular problem to designers. Take one look at the characters in game though and players can see that there is no lack of fine detail. Whether it's the muscle definition on the Sun Warriors, the pleats in the Swordsmen’s robes, or even the delicate features of the ethereal Moonmaidens, the balance between detail and lifelike actions, gestures, and expressions has been maintained. This is especially apparent when casting magical spells, with flashy and gaudy effects displaying the power and intensity of the spells to be cast.
With a revolutionary approach to the graphics for characters and the gaming environment, it should come as no surprise that many gamers feel a little unaccustomed to them, being used to certain styles from Korean, American or European games. However we believe that this different approach sets us apart and above other games as well as giving us the opportunity to offer gamers a unique concept and style that they’ve never seen before.
