My first gank/POD death, couple of ?s

remontoireremontoire Member Posts: 16

So I was transporting some cargo in my Iteron when I got ganked right oustide a Stargate. I was in .4 space. I was surprised at how long I lasted, around 20 sec. I thought the Concord where all powerful and dangerous? I saw his shape taking damage but I had originally assumed they would have taken him out before I was destroyed. How powerful are some of the Concord ships?

And now what? I was POD killed so that means I can go after this guy once any time in the future? What should I do to retaliate?

.4 is low-sec, concord does not spawn below .5 space.  The gate guns are of limited use to you.

when you chose to jump into a low-security system (below 0.5) you would have got a little window pop up saying something along the lines of "this region of space is not safe, concord will not come to your defense if you are attacked, are you sure you wish to proceed?". this is supposed to be a warning for people not sure of the mechanics of the various security levels that concord do not exist in low security space.

there are gate guns in losec who will fire on your agressor, however anyone gate camping in losec will have a ship that they know can tank the damage of the gateguns. those were what was damaging his ship, not concord.

as for killrights, you lost your ship without firing back at him, and therefore you now have killrights on him, meaning that concord will not attack you should you fire at him. kill rights do not allow you to pod kill, and will expire after a while.

as you were pod killed, you need to UPDATE YOUR CLONE again, dont do what i did and assume that you get given a new clone of the same level as your old one... best of luck recovering from your loss.

Xennith is correct, get that clone upgrade, because, if u get podkilled again, and your clone doesn't cover the skill points, you lose 10% of the trained skill points that your clone doesn't cover

I thought the loss was 50% skillpoints in the highest skill lvl of the higest rank.  I've been podded maybe 3 times without clones due to eagerness and no access to clonning facilities in times of war.  I believe I've lost a total of about 1mil-1.5mil skill points - Surgical Strike alone was knocked down requiring something like ~500k+ sp to retrain to lvl 5. .

It is the correct rate of loss. I have several longtrain skills (bs5 and so) and got podded with a "just expired" clone. I just lost 10k of sp, 10% of the sps not covered by my clone.
