this one is a few numbers short, but pretty much the same, enough to justify a hundred dollar difference in price?

could someone clear this up for me?

The 9800 card is out i think. if you want the new thing then buy that.

i think GTS is the best and even better with oc2..

but 9800 comes with gx2  (2 GPU's) in a month or so it will probably come with oc2

    Bla bla blabla

Just so you know they are open box and newegg wont replace it only refund for 15days but Im sure the manufacturer still warrantys them might wanna check into each individual cards warranty I know evga and bfg do lifetime.

Nothin wrong with factory OC'd cards I guess if your willing to fork out the extra cash. I personally go for the cheaper ones when I buy you can always OC it yourself.

The 9800 only comes in 1 flavor, the GX2 version.  Its the best performing gamer card right now, but it also costs a whole lot.  The increase in price, also doesn't show a huge performance boost.  It's gonna run at around $700.  Not to mention for games that don't support multi-gpus or SLi, its gonna be worse then an 8800 GT.

Nvidia also released the 9600 a month ago, which performs well in the midrange.  It has some appeal with pricing and performance.  Its power draw really isn't as good as competing AMD products.  Many people want to SLi this card up to 3.

With this in mind, the best card to get from nVidia at the time is the 8800 GT.  This will probably remain true for another year since it looks like the 9xxx series will be a miss for nVidia.  Not sure what company offers a good one though since I usually never shop nVidia.

You can pick up the 9800GX2 for $589 CAD here. Came out 2 days ago.

The 9800 GTX will release on March 25th =)

The HD3870 just got a price drop to $169, lower than the 9600 and better performance too.

Its impossible to tri sli the 9600 it doesnt have the connectors for it either. Can only tri sli 8800 GTX, Ultra or the 9800GTX as the 9800GX2 is quad sli.

It all comes down to your budget. If you are trying to get the most for your money or best bang for you buck then I would choose an EVGA 8800GT base model (currently 189 @ newegg)  and o/c it myself with RivaTuner. You could always buy another down the road and go SLI if your mobo supports it. That would give similar performance to the 9800GX2 for far less money.

wait for the 9800 gtx (delayed to 1st april?)

and 9800 gt should come out not long after the gtx

and doesnt matter what card you go for, they're all the same, just look for the clock speed, sometime you get free games, and look for the fan, some fit a really good fan on them.

Clock Speeds and specs are deceptive.  Try benchmarks.  Anandtech and tomshardware have these.  If it was done purely on Clock Speed and Specs, ATI would win everything.

i know my video cards Love when this topic comes up , in your price range the best card is clearly the 9600 card , i would select the sonic model by palet as it is the only card that has a hdmi plugin right on the card , and also a plugin for your sound card so you only need one plugin if you do plan on hooking up to your sweet lcd tv , the costly 9800 gtx is a better card no question BUT you will not see the results unless you are playing at a very high resolution, therefore if playing on an lcd tv  or lcd minotor and 1600 resolution , the gtx is clearly not worth the price, if you happen to have a large wallet and own an 30 inch lcd monitor im assuming price is not an issue for you anyways .
