The Two Bestest Sci-Fi Series Ever

TealaTeala Member RarePosts: 7,627

Dr Who - Especially Season 2  <<< OMG I loved this series and this season of Dr Who.  Rose and the Doctor were perfect for one another.  I loved watching them on screen together - so much chemistry between them.   Made me cry when Rose lost the Doctor - cried myself to sleep after that last episode.

Firefly  <<<< This show just plan rocked...and it rocked the universe hard!  We need Firefly back!  Chant with me...Firefly - firefly - firefly....long live the Browncoats!

14 were made, only 11 aired.

14 is all and the movie Serenity - but those 14 episodes were totally awesome.

Firefly and Star Trek Enterprise. I know I might upset some ST fans because of the latter.I don't care.

BSG was also pretty good, but overly... Personal when it shouldn't have been.

top two would be babylon 5 and then firefly.

Firefly, just look at those moments. You dont see them in any other scf-fi serie.

Cant think of a second favourite. Im more in for Deadwood or Rome (non scf-fi)

Firefly = best show series ever.

    Dune= best book series ever.

I agree Rose losing the doctor was a sad episode. Then again rose is coming back it seems.

    Don't ask me how tho?

I kinda liked Stargate SG1 too. MacGuyver is great.

    Firefly and BSG (new)

Wash: "Little River just gets more colorful by the moment. What'll she do next?"

Zoe: "Either blow us all up or rub soup in our hair. It's a toss-up."

Wash: "I hope she does the soup thing. It's always a hoot, and we don't all die from it."

    Or

Jayne: Anybody remember her coming at me with a butcher's knife?

    Wash: Wacky fun.

Jayne: You wanna go, little man?

Wash: Only if it's someplace with candlelight.

Zoë: Sir, I know she's unpredictable, but I don't think she'd harm anyone.

    Jayne: Butcher's knife!

    Zoë: Anyone we can't spare.

If the folks at FOX didn't have S#IT for brains they'd resurrect FIREFLY in a heartbeat and apologize for their previous idiocy.

    Best SciFi Show so far.

Here's a site with some great quotes :)

I swear, you say Firefly here and your topic will go to 2+ pages. I can't recall ever seeing it though. I skiped on seeing Serenity though.

Firefly and SG:1 while Richard Dean Anderson was still there full time.

I'm fond of most sci-fi series though, although a few have more miss episodes than hits.

Babylon 5, almost forgot about that show. It was truely a great sci-fi. Star Trek TNG was also good (better than the other star treks ).

I would have to say Stargate Atlantis is now my favorite Sci-Fi series.  I had never seen the original movie, had heard of SG1, but was never interested in it.  But a couple years ago, I happened to catch an episode of Atlantis and loved it.  Because of Atlantis, I started watching SG1 and like that show now and have seen the movie the two shows are based on.  I think the quality of the show has slipped a little recently, but it's still good imo.

My faves are probably Red Dward, Star Trek:TNG & Stargate:SG1 in that order.

See Serenity. It's one of the best Sci-Fi movies I've ever seen. And I've seen most worth watching.

Serenity is truly a pearl of a move. A diamond. Art.

I bow before you wisdom because you reminded me of Red Dwarf.

Red Dwarf is a class in itself.

I find most sci-fi shows and movies tend to be on the corny side anyway so I like the ones that don't take themselves too seriously.

Don't you worry little buddy. You're dealing with a man of honor. However, honor requires a higher percentage of profit

    Star Trek: Deep Space Nine

    The reimagined Battlestar Galactica

    Followed closely by Babylon 5

I could never get into Firefly the series, but enjoyed Serenity immensely...probably because it brought all the major plot elements together in one package.

I'd sure like to see more of Firefly, though.

CH, Jedi, Commando, Smuggler, BH, Scout, Doctor, Chef, BE...yeah, lots of SWG time invested.

The BSG series is one I would love to check out from the begining... however the STARGATE shows, I just can't get into... I loved the movie but every time I try to watch any of the shows the acting/writing and over all 'cheap' feel of the show just turns me off in a few minutes.  The few episodes I've seen in full pretty much just 'sucked' in my opinion :     Maybe I just caught the crappy ones though... but it really ticks me off that such a seemingly junk show can last so long while FIREFLY, a brilliantly written, acted and directed show dies before even finishing its first season...

Really makes you wonder doesn't.  Why shows like Firefly get canceled and a show like Stargate can keep going.

Its called popularity.  Firefly didnt get its huge cult following until after it got cancelled.  Stargate has always pulled consistant viewing numbers.

Anyone here remember a show called Space: Above and Beyond?   That show was good, too, and just like Firefly it was canceled.   :(

Space: Above and Beyond Clip  <<<<  OMG this made me cry.  So did the last scene of the episode Sugardirt when West was looking at the clock and then looks at the others and says..."I feel like I am suppose to be doing something...."  and Vansen looks to the clock and realizes that it was the same time that she use to have them radio back to the Saratoga to do a mission report...19:30hr and she starts to cry.   When she did that...OMG I started crying, too.   cry
