Why I'll pick Warhammer

I'm playing an offline RPG called the Witcher, It has all the new revolutionary features that gamers are asking for. High end graphics, the cities and world are detailed with a swamp that is unmatched. You can rest and play at night and its almost a totally different game.

BUT what the box and web site DON'T  tell you is that the new age combat has a lot of flaws with a lot of missed strikes and blocks, lots and lots of load times and npc cinematic clips that stop you dead in your tracks and have to be viewed.  Zones are small , and the message boards are loaded with questions on how to get this game to work.

Why am I going off on the Witcher ? Well because this is what you get with modern gaming in the last few years. and someone stated that AoC is just like the Witcher.

So give me a game thats centered around content and fun not graphics. Give me Warhammer !!!!

The Witcher is total trash. Horrible story, horrible combat, horrible quests, it's an mmorpg thats offline, meaning basically you solo it -- collect animal parts and things like that. Lag is going to be a big issue with AoC, it will make or break it for me. Not to mention Funcom has no track record for MMO's. Everyone on this site seems to want to crown AoC already, but from a fan stand point Warhammer seems to be a much more anticipated title, they had over half a million beta sign ups before '08. AoC has 100,000 or so and smells of a game being rushed to meet its deadline. Warhammer may not be the next big giant but Mythic does have a proven track record with DAoC meaning they know what to expect when dealing with the woes of an MMO.

Why I'll pick Warhammer? Because of what it is. A intensive get-in-and-out type of gameplay that gives me my PvP fix I fail to get in other more in-depth RPG games.

Offline RPGs always fail because they have a huge missing component....other people.  The social aspect of MMORPGS is important because your part of a community, however much you participate you know its there and accessible.  For me it makes it more fun and is the only reason I play MMOs.

I can get better graphics and more exciting gameplay in an offline game, but the social aspect is why most of us play MMOs whether that be just competition between you and someone else or just to chat, or to see who can make the most gold or the highest level, its all cool.

I pick warhammer for the teamwork and the pride of your realm over the other realm something that can't be found in an offline RPG.

    Bring it on!!! :)

Ive seen several surveys (Some here on MMORPG.COM) where players rank whats important to them: Featuress like Gameplay/graphics/PvP/crafting/Lag, etc

    Gameplay is almost always 1st

Graphics is generaly #3 or 4

Well that's not exactly true, Funcom has lots of experience with Anarchy Online. My first real MMORPG I played ^^ Loved it, although the PvP wasnt THAT good imo.

One thing I miss in AoC is humor. Humor is so important when playing a game imo. It can even make grinding quests fun if the things you do are funny enough. Like trapping dwarfs in barrels ;p

I'm picking up WAR for sure. I want a game thats focused on PvP from the start and has a nice sense of humor. CANT FK WAIT! :D

Not only it works but it wipes out the competition, warhammer problem right now is not that it looks from 5 years ago, its that also "Feels" like 5 years ago.

Combat for both games is going to get old. We have seen the press 1 for X attack system before, but AoC, in the end, is going to be the same thing. Press the same couple of buttons to perform the same attacks over and over. I will assume based on your statements though you aren't in the WAR beta.

"Combat for both games is going to get old." No shit sherlock?

But wich one will feel the age faster? WAR feels like a WOW on weed so slow and unresponsive...lazy atacks, AoC feels like.....i cant really compare with any game ive tried but......well its not on weed, maybe something with acids.

Its really those kind of games that you wanna come home a bit drunk turn the heavy metal music on max and just go for the freenzy carnage, Fatalitys at the sound of Metalica...........wait and see.

I am curious to know how you came to these conclusions without being in beta. At this point you just seem like a typical forum troll. You know, cursing, rambling, talking out of your ... well, you know!

Anyone saying that is in Beta is breaking NDA contract.

Do i have to pull off my drawing skills?

So you comment on WAR beta without being in it, because WAR allows you to say you are in beta. And then you comment on things only beta testers would know for AoC, so you could have no idea what you are talking about. Basically what I wanted to hear out of you. Thank you.

Problem is that WAR is nowhere close to be done. Instead of fixing network code na polishing content, they add new stuff while previous is broken. I was really hyped about WAR, but let me tell you that its not going to be any good if they release it in 2008, and 2009 will be too late.. wotlk and aoc will dominate it. EA imo killed WAR and Mythic.

I pick WAR because the game design solutions there seem much more elegant and fun than those in AoC. Although I do love Conan setting and would appreciate some grit in my MMOs, the whole game seems pretty clunky to me, simply from the game design PoV.

The examples are too numerous to mention but there is nothing in AoC so far that made me go "Wow! How come I didn't think of that?" regarding the numerous ornerous flaws that we take for granted in MMOs and that WAR devs are hell bent on fixing. Like the loot system for PQs... or Lairs... or PQs themselves... or revamping the collector quests through Tome of Knowledge... or mixing high-lvl monsters with low level PQs to keep high level chars hanging out in lowbie zones and helping out newbs...

AoC devs, sadly, seem to concentrate on a very few bombastic improvements but are content to keep a lot of "traditional" annoyances we have, again sadly, come to take for granted in MMOs. Level-grind, gear dependency, forced raiding and guild play in the endgame, static world setting...

I might be wrong, but I'm willing to bet WAR will have a much better "fun vs meh" ratio per hour/played than  AoC or almost any other MMO to date.

    /edit

p.s. And oh yeah, one of the last straws that made me choose WAR rather than AoC is the curious fact that, and I'm sure you've noticed it as well, it is always the AoC fans trolling other games' forums with "yr game is gonna suck, Aoc rulez" while we  have yet to see WAR fans doing the same. I've got this feeling that WAR will draw a much more casual, laid-back and mature crowd while AoC's "mature" rating might become one of the biggest ironies in gaming history...

So..... I'm guessing you have access to info we all don't have? You know how much they have completed, the quality of what they have completed and how much they still have to work on. (i.e. Scheduling)

Please, feel free to post some those links. Otherwise you are just opinionating out the waazzoo.

You should really toss the AoC beta tag upon your X-Fire signature.

(makes people acknowledge you were actually in the AoC beta and not forming positivity out of thin air)

Not a problem, just confirming you aren't in WAR beta.

So, because some random person stated that AoC is just like the Witcher you've made your decision? Interesting way to make a decision.

It's particularly interesting since AoC hasn't been released, which means the only source you could possibly have would be leaked information from the beta test.

I would think that WAR fans wouldn't be so quick to judge a game on a few disgrutled beta testers, given how many disgruntled beta testers there seem to be from WAR, several of which are in my AoC guild.

I'll wait to see the final product of both before I make my final decision on which I want to stick with for the long haul... assuming either is very good.

My experience has been the reverse. It's always been the WAR fans who troll and the AoC fans who take the high road. In my view, WAR fans look like WoW fans with the same maturity level.

I can't speak for all AoC fans, but to say that WAR fans don't troll forums is nonsense. I see it all the time.
