X-trap ?!

In the last update x-trap was enabled. The reason for x-trap (the one I know of) is to limit "cheaters"/bots. Unfortunately this is a malware of the worst kind! I have buttons in my mouse disabled, my G15 keyboard keys are not working for ANY application while x-trap is running! I use my G keys for many applications for work and having a GAME on the background disabling my macro keys for other apps is very annoying at the very least.
You maybe wondering why bother complaining about this or even writting it here and not in the official sites forums. I write this primarily because I like the game and I would like to continue to advance my MMORPG career there for the long run but my patience is being tested. I use this forums in the hopes that someone from gamersfirst will read it and maybe act upon it. I cannot use the official forums because I cannot received the email validation message (needless to say I have tried to)

And to think that while the maintenance was happening, I was about to spend 40$ and buy gold 
. This is not going to happen now for a while .

It's not malware. It's a hacking prevention application just like GameGuard. The reason certain mouse buttons and your g15 keys don't work is most likely because they are run by a software program. Xtrap sees these, and prevents them from being able to access the game executable to prevent macros and hacks from working in the game.
In order to get them to work, you'd probrably need to contact the company that made Xtrap and get them to add support for the software that you are running for those components.

Yes you are correct, their intention is not to prevent me from working while playing and vice-versa
- but the end result is just that. I need my G keys working for Word, Eclipse, emacs, and a range of other applications that make my work so much simpler.
At the this point and AFAIK when a program prevents me from doing something on my PC I consider it a malware.

The sad part is, if anything, the number of botters has gone up dramatically since the patch (and X-trap was enabled). So it's just penalizing players.

Hopefully lack of new players and cash will make them reconsider. But I have to say I am not impressed at all with their operation!

Nice to see K2 still has no clue how to run a game.
Xtrap does not stop the bots, but its kicking the paying customers ass, brilliant!

AM-Neume here! We are aware of a number of players who are having issues with X-Trap. As I said on our forums one of my major initatives is a full review of X-trap in general.
Currently we have noticed about 2% of our users being negatively effected (about 80% of those cannot connect at all). Now for me, if this really will stop a hacker I can live with that... but I am not too convinced.
We are doing a number of internal and external checks as well as looking into other options (Gameguard is not one of those options because it is definately an inferior product when compared to X-Trap. Yes, I know this for a fact, I worked on GMO which uses GameGuard and it's false positive rate is about 10-15%).

X-trap is way to intrusive on my PC! I have a problem when an application requires admin privilages to run on my system. I will head home soon and see whether it has been de-activated. If not then I am afraid I will have to un-install. It is a shame because SotNW is the first MMO after a long time that I enjoyed playing.

Unfortunately, it takes a little more than me 'wishing' X-Trap away. I have to be able to give my superiors and the Developers hard evidence that X-Trap is just not working for our market. I hate to see people leave but I truely understand. Maybe when we finally chuck it you can come back and play again!
