Creating New Characters

War_EagleWar_Eagle Member, Newbie CommonPosts: 472

Does anyone here enjoy creating a character, getting it to max level, then creating a new character/class and doing it all over again?

If so, which game(s) are you playing that allow you to do that?  Because I would love to get my hands on that kind of fun content!

I can tell you that many players in City of Heroes / City of Villians just love character creation. Many times they dont even level very far, they just like creating new looks.

Does that say much for the content then?

Content wise, most feel that COX is fun, but repetative.

The character creation is neat.  The gameplays are neat, the game value is amazing.

How many MMOs out there would still be running when anyone can reach max level merely an hundred hours of play?

Not only it is running, but it is doing well.  And anyone can be max level in a month.  Character creation is not the only good thing running for the game, lot of character diversification and the REAL choice to group/solo/raid/PvP at the endgame, never been forced to any (all yield same rewards, with 1 exception solo/PvP doesn't grant, but it is subpar anyway and they can purchase at the black market from any grouper)

See, the players are FREE to play the game how they want and enjoy.  The short lifespan of the characters (less than a month for me to reach level cap even prior XP boost) can only display you that, they understand much.  Saddly, it would do a LOT better if they never nerfs players and if they add more stuff to earn without forcing that stuff on every player.   But still, it is doing amazingly well considering the little investment it get.

WoW is taking a LOT of new features from CoX.  That alone is quite something.  When Blizzard is copying your design...over, and over, and over.

Yes I am an alt-aholic. I play DDO and the multitude of variaties available for creating characters does much to promote this.

CoH has great character creation.  It has great gameplay.  It lacks in variety of quest and maps.

Everything usually entails beating up the bad guys.  Each group of badguys have their own unique attacks and such which add to the game.  However gameplay suffers when you join an 8 man team and fight through 30 badguys at a time.  All sense of strategy is lost and this really hurts the game.

The addition of a crafting system added alot to the game.  It's still not quite enough though.

I typically find myself playing the game for one month, then playing something else for 3 months then coming back to this game for another month.  My return has a lot to do with the awsome emote, macro, key binding system which further adds to my customized character.

    Im an alt-aholic.

When I first start a game I have to play a healer/support and a pet class.  The mosre pets the class gets the happier I am.  The more hybrid the healer the better.

Then I spend the next month in the game in turmoil as to which class I should focus on first.

yeah because in that way i can master each class..

Even in skill-based games I'm an altoholic. I love creating new characters to toy with different races and appearances, different roleplay personalities and backstories, different classes or skill focuses and accompanying gameplay styles...

I'm like that too.  I love to play different classes.

But I'm talking about a game where you are enthralled with the content all the way to the end and then, you can't wait to create another character and go through it again.

Every MMO I've played, the thought of having to go through that again made me think better of driving golf tees under my fingernails.

I did this a ton in Phantasy Star Online. Also a little in WoW, but only because I wanted to try every class.

City of Heroes was my first MMO and I made at least 100 characters in the two years that I played it. One to level 50, 3 to the 30+ range, about 5 in the 20's. and a lot of 1-15's. I never advanced very far because I was constantly coming up with ideas for characters I wanted to make :)

I've been paying DDO for two years now and as a permadeath player (we manually delete our characters when they die) I've made MANY characters and repeated the quests MANY times but am still loving the game. DDO has a ton of toys for any alt-aholic. Classes, Feats, Skills, Stats, Enhancements, Multiclassing, and the quests are fun to play through.

I create a frackton of characters on any game that I play, but I personally found that Guild Wars makes me feel the least guilty about it because the level cap is so low that I can actually hit it with each character and not depriving any one alter ego of valuable grind time that's being spent on a completely frivolous character. All of them get equal love and attention.

Nope, for some reason I have never really been able to get into alternate characters.  I sort of view my main as an alter ego and because of that, don't really see much point in making secondaries.  I have made a few from time to time, but have never been interested in them long enough to max them out.

I've never loved a game enough to start all over again from scratch and play him till the end.  I think its kind of boring.  If I do love a game, I would rather just keep playing my main and hope there is enough content to keep me busy.

Same here, I prefer to focus my attention on a single character to the exclusion of alts.

I typically play every class for a little while to get a "feel" for them prior to choosing which one I want to be my "main", which can be frustrating in games whereby the "feel" of a class changes drastically as you progress.
