I love this genre but guess be a waste of money for me because i frankly suck at fps shooters or any type of pvp style fighting. I have limited movement in my hands so real hard to push alot of keys at once.
Would be nice if had a class or 2 that wasnt reliant on uber button smashing to be at least useful in the game. Is there any place in the game for me that loves the stories of Conan, the surroundings, and the scale of this but is limited in ability physically to push alot of keys fast? Thanks for any information.

If you're comfortable with the current MMO implementation, you'll find classes that play in a way you're already familiar with.
I would suggest you pick a caster class since (from what I've seen, correct me if I'm wrong) they require the least of button bashing compared to the melee classes since melee needs direction most of all.
Also the game isn't all about huge battles and such. The devs found it important that the player can explore all of Hyboria and made sure there are enough opportunities to do so. So I recommend you at least try to play the game. There is so much more in it than PvP, it's a complete experience.
But this is coming from someone who can't wait to play the game and has nothing but good things to say about AoC in general.
I would also like to say that try a caster class. And you can solo the entire game to top lvl (I think it was right) and group. And if your a caster in a group you can mostly stand still while casting spells. But solo you need to run around a little more to get away from melee. But you can then also try out how it works for you and the combat system. So a caster would be a good pick I think, fire magics while standing still, and maybe try out the combat system from time to time when enemies are almost dead.
But its up to you. But when seeking for a class who dont use alot of keys t once, mage-classes is probably the only ones with the fewest keys used at once.
Well decided the to pre order, read the wiki and frankly cant pass up a chance to play this even if i die alot heh.
Thanks for the advice. i will be reading the caster classes with interest...
Since they are talking about porting this game over to the xbox have you perhaps looked into using a controller instead of a keyboard or mouse.

No offense, but there are a million and one point and click mmorpgs on the market. If you have difficulty playing games which require a lot of hand movement, then you should try one of them.
It's unfortunate that Conan isn't going to work out for you, but I highly doubt they would change play mechanics because a few people have disabilities.
I mean, the whole selling point of Conan is the new combat system.

a friend of mine has only part of one hand (since birth) and he gets along great in other games as a healer.

you know this was the first thing that came to my find when i was thinking about a mmo with active combat. I think that you will be ok with any of the caster classes and probably the ranger class, which although can shoot like a fps will have a fairly strong active lockon system and can be played (at your option, interchangably) as a third person shooter. I think that you will have a lot of fun while mounted because things aren't nearly as hairy, all you have to do is run by a person and press a single button to attack. Rangers can only shoot in three directions while mounted as to handicap their ability to shoot-run-shoot-run-shoot, which I think is an unfortunate but necessary handicap. With that in mind your limited hand movement shouldn't come off as apparant while playing a caster or mounted ranger. may I also suggest that you get yourself a mammoth as a mount because you do not actively fight (you're way too high) and the mammoth then fights while you cast spells/shoot. and before someone says anything about that being broken, if the mammoth dies the player also dies when it falls down so cool your jets. To get the mammoth just go pre order the game at a gamestop

People like diabolic and I use the term people loosely here are the reason the world is going the direction it is. Instead of suggesting he go somewhere else why don't you do something constructive like give him some options on how to play the game he's obviously looking forward to. How would you like it if I told you that just because you're looking forward to AoC you can no longer play it without any particularly valid reason.
Next time you have the urge to post something like this, go find someone in public and say the exact same thing. If some bystander does not cave your face in for being a Douche Nozzle then I don't know what.

If you're limited physically and you think that hitting some hot keys with multiple fingers and using both hands is tough, then you must have had some serious issues typing up this thread. I mean, typing in general, especially for a significant amount of time would be just like playing a PC game that required you to use hot keys. Also, I don't expect it to be any more difficult to play than any other MMO out there.
However, I would assume that people who are very dexterous would have an advantage over you. It seems like AoC's melee combat system will be more active and more twitch based. It will actually create a difference in skill and hand-eye coordination that most MMO's do not have. Simply hitting a key at the right time to execute a move won't be enough. Instead, you'll have to hit multiple keys in succession with the correct timing in order to perform a special move/combo. People will have to learn how to either make a script to do it without the keystrokes or if that isn't possible, they'll just have to learn how to do it while having control over their character movements at the same time. It really does make fighting more about focus and player skill.
I do also wonder how Funcom is going to balance the melee and ranged/magic aspect. If all it takes to cast a spell is to click a hotkey like other MMO's, then I'm led to believe that it will give ranged classes an advantage since they won't have to deal with pulling off combos. I haven't read it anywhere, nor have I seen any videos on it, so I don't know exactly how those systems work.
I really commend Funcom for trying to be different with the combat system. However, World of Warcraft was really the first MMO to make combat work like it is supposed to. Now, why would you go away from that? From what I've read, this is one thing about this game that Funcom will not budge on. I've seen multiple interviews about how they love the MK/DOA style fighting games and how they want to integrate that style into their MMO. I just wonder, if it's released and there is a major uproar about how the combat system is difficult to learn, clunky, buggy, etc.. will they patch to a more targetted, point and click, hotkeyed style combat system? Or, do they even have this as a viable backup plan?
It just seems like they are very stubborn.. we'll see.
Where do i ask them to change anything in the game? Where do i complain about it. All i asked was there classes wasnt as dependent on button mashing. And take time to read , i said i enjoyed the universe of Conan and part of the allure of games is if you enjoy what its based on. Not simply because if Im able to play it or not.
For those that gave constructive answers, i thank you
And to answer the above i can type with 1 hand very slowly.. That was a silly thing to say.

Like others have said, ranged classes could be a little easier for you based on the information given. But I don't believe any one of us can tell you that without a shadow of a doubt.
Here's my suggestion, buy the game, play the game.. and then make your decision. We can't realistically tell you if you can handle a certain class better than another. The NDA hasn't been lifted, so it just isn't possible. I'm sure there will be a boat load of PvE content for you to go through, you aren't forced to PvP. Though, I'm sure you'll find yourself in a situation that involves either attacking or defending yourself against another player at some point. After all, it is a MMO PvP game.
From what I've seen in the some videos you can click the attack directions in the middle of the screen. Some people may find using keys around WASD more comfortable and the others may just find themselves clicking most of the time. I will probably will end up doing it both ways at the same time.
Don't worry, combat systems is a joke, you just have to click left or right following an icon, nothing more complex than any current MMO.
I believe you can click mouse instead of using keyboard too, even to perform combos you just click those numbers that light up. So hopefully it won't be a problem for you.
