Check this out its a chart i found with a bit of info on each game featured.Apparently EQ and Finalfantasy are the big winners.

I hate to bring this sore subject up once again, but IMO FFXI has the most accounts because it's playable on the PC and PS2....
I know that the crowd here at MMORPG is comprised mostly of PC gamers, but you can't dispute statistics....I mean FFXI isn't even that great (my opinion), yet it has so many active accounts...and it's the only MMORPG playable on the PC and on a console...Xaldor
Ya know you have a very good point there.The past few major releases we have seen a lot of talk about developers attempting to attract the "casual"gamer.I beleive that casual gamers are primarily on the console.
So why not develop mmo's that are playable across both platforms?I think citizen zero is going to be on xbox as well as pc.Could be with FF being as succesful as it has been with this we could see this as the standard very very soon.
The whole problem with ANY mmo and the casual gamer is after a while it is no longer casual.Most mmo's in general have a huge grind factor at some point.Until that issue is addressed i just dont see how any mmo can be called casual.
Currently im not even playing a mmo as it just bores me these days.I might play eq2 but im not sure.

One mmorpg that may have about 70% only real users at best is SWG.Because of the 1 character per server per account nearly everyone i knew in the game had at least a second account.
In the case of one chap who was heavily into resource mining he had a whooping 7 accounts!
Apart from economical reasons many have a second account because of their jedi slot.They use the second account to supply the jedi account.
So i think SWG may not have more then 150k actual users but however its hard to know for sure.
nope... Lineage 1 is the big winner... Lineage 1 = highest subscriber count in the world since late 97/early 98...
he even says later on "And you will note that I do not show Lineage: The Blood Pledge on this graph. Why? Well, two main reasons. First, it would completely dwarf the other MMOGs, distorting the graph and making visual comparisons much more difficult...."

The reason FFXI is so high is because when you sign up to play, you create a playonline account, which never expires and doesnt cost money, and they base their stats off the PlayOnline users, not actual subscribers.

Last time I heard the report,
Lineage 1 = 1.8 Million in S.Korea alone (largely due to LAN Centers), something like 0.8 million in Taiwan, 0.3 in Japan , and unreported number in China but very slime number for N. America. L1 was released way before EQ in Asia but came too late in N.America.
Lineage 2 = 1.5 Million in S.Korea alone, something like 0.6 million in TW, 0.4 in Japan, again not yet released in China due to rampant piracy/hacking there.
L1 is still > L2.
I think if L2 is released in China, NC will likely be nuked there due to hacking problem. I heard L2 source code is already leaked in China like HL2 source code is leaked in Russia.

This whole thread was practically duplicated. There was a thread EXACTLY like this a few weeks ago. Funny.
Even if only 50% of the subscribers for Lineage 1 are real people paying for it at home, not net cafes, it still beats the others by far.
