Hey, I was just wondering is it worth it? I don't want some answer that just says "O THE GAME IS CRAPPY BECAUSE OF THE GRINDING." I just want to know the pros AND the cons. thank you
Every single female race element is hot and has plenty of armor that will offer the best panty shots ever seen in a computer game.
Dark Elven female armor consists mostly on bondage straps.
Every single male element is hot and has the kind of body girls would rip each other's hairs out for, especially the Dark Elves. (except the poor short fat dwarves...but they're kinda cut in their own way)
To sum it up, the graphics are the best I've seen so far in all the MMORPGs I've played, by far.
Cons-
Boring gameplay with nothing to do but grind away exp (it's SLOW.) with the eventual castle siege after you get to at least 45 (if you even manage to handle the game untill then) which isn't really anything special.
The GMs do not understand english. I repeat, they do NOT understand english, and don't even know any basics about the game and most of the time cover it up saying they'll forward it to the 'higher tier', saying it's an intended part of the gameplay, directing you to the forums or saying it's a player-problem and you should fix it yourself. the only thing the GMs are good for is unstucking you if you happen to get stuck in a terrain glitch and out of scroll of escapes to teleport you to the nearest town. If you want an example on how worthless the GMs are here, I've seen a GM saying botting was legal. A player petitioned him/her/it (sometimes I wonder if they're not badly programmed auto-answer machines) and asked if running a macro/bot to level up/earn money during the night was legal, the GM said it was an intended part of the gameplay, when the player was surpriced him/her/it asked to 'Elaborate further' (another automated or pre-written response of them) and after he actually explained what a bot was he/she/it said they would forward it to a 'higher tier'.
I'd say about 50% of the population are so called adena-farmers, they play for the sole purpose of gaining large quantities of adena daily, their daily quota which they sell to a 'boss', so that their boss can then sell them on e-bay. Just go on e-bay and type Lineage 2 or adena if you want to see how out of hand things are. That by itself wouldn't be much of a problem. The problem is that those farmers will do EVERYTHING in their power to grief, KS, steal, PK, mob train, harrass, insult, exploit, etc to drive you away from their designated farming areas. They have literally taken over whole areas in the game, you will not be able to level there because they wont let you. They also use a deleveling 'exploit' (it's not actually an exploit, let's just say the devs are dumb), meaning, they level a character to high-40s, then delevel it back to 20~30ish and maintain all their fighting skills. That way they will be much better than you at equal levels even if your equipment is better (which will never be since they all use top-grade equipment to enable them to earn their quota faster).
Every character you meet of X level of Y class will have the -exact- skills of any other character of X level and Y class. There is no 'Should I get this skill or that skill?', there is simply 'Alright, I'm level 40 now, time to get all my skills and kill more mobs'.
Repetitive monster skins. You know those golems you were killing at level 10? or those frogs at level 7? Those bats at 15? When you reach level 50 you'll be killing their twins. They'll only hit harder and die slower.
Repetitive skills. Alright, you're a meele fighter, at level 5 you get Power Strike, wow! My sword turns orange and I hit hard! Yes! (actually it's kinda nifty since the graphics are pretty awsome)...moving on, you get about 20 more levels of the same skills and you reach level 40. Oh my! Power Smash! That sounds awsome! You walk off to a random monster, you use it and...Hey! Wow! My sword turns orange and I hit hard!....Wait...I think I've seen this before.
Unfortunely I could find alot more cons but not that many more pros (maybe the sound effects) but thing is, I'm lazy, that should be enough for now, other people can fill you in on the rest.
- High level cap (good luck trying to reach it o_0)
- raising your own dragons
- castle sieges THAT ACTUALLY MAKE SENSE
- graphics
- music/sound
- free LARGE updates 2 times a year (at least) in the form of "Chronicles"
- good PvP/PK system (reminiscent of old school UO)
BAD THINGS
------------------------------------------
- completely MORONIC and un-helpful customer support and GM's (the reason i quit)
- HUGE grind
- hardly any character customization
- alot of Korean adena farmers (bots)

give it a shot if you think you can handle it... Lineage 2 is deffinatly not for the weak skinned carebears... the 1st 30-40 levels are the worst =_=... its practically grind, grind, grind, grind untill then (not to say it isnt at 40+)... if you dont mind Korean grind-fests and hardcore PvP then it might just be right for you... deffinatly a love it, or hate it game...

ROFL its even wrst with armor off but i cannot beleive how the de's show their underwear from the front and the back thats crazy, and they got an emote where they bend over and show it all =x.
This game is one of the wierdest MMORPGS in the world. Since grouping doesnt help at all if u want to lvl up. This game is more a Solo-player game than groupin. Oh and the downtime my god they are horribly long and slow which makes lvlin much more slower.
I tooked me to lvl up my mage from lvl 20 to lvl 21 like 4 hours of gameplay and that doesnt make any sense for such low level.
The worst part of this game is that it triggers the worst nature of human being. You'll see how greedy ppl are in this game. Everyone seems to be more greedy than in other games.
You'll often read that how one is scammed by an old friend for 6million adenas. Alot of clan leaders are 2 faced liars, and they are often backstabed by their own clanmates to reveal their true faces.
Everyone seems to blame on the others for ebaying yet over 40% of the playerbase ever ebayed one way or another. (Plus 50% the playerbase are the adena farmers, as being pointed out by some one )
The good part is the above experience is unique and you may not find it in other games.
-Pro Graphics will destory any other game competeing Progressive weapon/armor system (not like diablo o hey i got a SUPER good leather armor this time) Good SFX/Music ITS NOT ANOTHER EZ GAME (Lvling acutally means something in this game) Not another game where you can party and end up being lvl 99 by the end of the night
-Con The Dev's suck (as i got banned for stealing my OWN account dont under stand that one) Not for people who like a quick ez game of Oh, Look ive been playing for 2 days and im lvl 60 Botters are a ruining factor (Hence the reason i plan to kill them all once i lvl up again)

It is indeed a lvl grind....and the karma system sucks, but the game sure has kept my interest...except those days I drop my eqiupment from dying with karma....and those days i drop without karma....
My drop total has just exceeded 4 million adena.
Anyways.....I'm only playing L2 until December 1st....unless I get into the beta of DARK AND LIGHT!!!
Dark and Light will very easily be the best MMORPG ever created!
Here is a quote I took from ShadowFire05...
DnL will have its treadmill. Every game that bases itself on levels will have to have one.
HOWEVER, the thing that sets DnL apart is the huge array of content.
-Snowboarding, hangliding, etc -Everything is a rideable mount -Thousands of miles/km's of land to explore -Social Exp to work your way into politics. -You can lvl up by crafting -Constant battles going on in the frontiers and kingdoms -Random quests and encounters -Moving spawns so you just don't sit in one place and hunt the same thing over and over and over in the same spot -Crazy mad weather system with snow that piles up and melts, rainstorms, fog, dustorms, etc -Ongoing terrain where you aren't just in a 1mile square surrounded by fog.
The list goes on and on. You will have to lvl your character obviously. What will make DnL fun is the fact that there are so many different ways to do it. Hunt, fight, craft, politics. Your lvl no longer is stuck on how many mobs you have killed.
And they give you THOUSANDS of things to do if you get bored with lvling, via snowboarding, flying dragons, hangliding, etc etc. Exploring will take you at least a month to cover the whole map (yes this can be done faster)
So don't worry too much. There will be plenty to keep you occupied when the grind gets too rough.
This is a Social game if you are not into chatting/networking (socially) then this game is not for you. This game PvP at high levels there is not much else to do There are no player castable teleport spells (yes there is a scroll of escape (SoE) but that just takes you to the nearest city) so you have to RUN to or pay an npc to teleport you a city near where you are going IT IS FUN to grief the farmers (of course clearing the karma afterwards stinks)
The short and sweet if you are hardcore RPG/PvP/LvL Grinder then you will love this game If you are not look elsewhere
Its such a pointless game. Trust me it is. I played since the closed beta all the way up til about 3 days ago when I got into the Stress Test for WoW. And I mean WOW. L2 is just horrible compared to it.
CON's of L2 -
PVP system is horrible. Why do you need to wait for someone to go purple to actually kill them? If you die to a PK'er then you lose 10% and they just gain "Karma"
EXP - The grind is just dumb. The only way you will get to 40 quick is if you have all the time in the world on your hands. (I know this from experience)
Memory Leaks - Wow I mean come on. They are using an Unreal engine for their game. It is just horrible with how much lag it has. I have a very very nice computer and I can barely play the game. You can go in a certain area lag it up, turn somewhere and not lag, face back the same way you were and lag it up some more.
Community - Full of botters, KS'ers
Characters - hardly even customizable. Everyone looks the same
All I can tell you is don't waste your time. Just wait til World of Warcraft. I bashed on WoW for a long time until I got into this stress test beta. I can tell you that WoW already beats L2 and its in its beta phase. That's just sad for L2.
i am extremely pleased i looked into this post,as i have been wondering about this game since it first was made available to north america.I just quit FFX1 for the exact same reasons i am reading here.
Games fulla bots,to attain money to sell through the game is a joke. And further more bots can also be used to camp the best/highest priced items in the game ,leaving the fair player to play with lesser equipment than the money hoarding mongers.Too bad too,cus i dont mind the long grinding to attain skills/levels,if it was too easy the fun would be lost also.
this game wont be getting my money, leaving me to wait for EQ2,but im sure that will also have tons of scamming players. If it does, itll be a long time before i give any other mmorpg a chance,i had more fun playing FPS games for 4 yrs....till i tried FFX1 for a year.,albeit FPS games have botting there as well ,however nobody was gaining money from it ,nor did it limit yourgameplay at all.You see in FPS games everyone has access to the best equipment, the strat is when to use what.I dont have to go camp an item for weeks nor do you have to buy it or money from EBAY or IGN.
Never forget 3 mile Island and never trust a government official or company spokesman.

When people are Lineage 2 grind is horrible it could mean that one would have to fight for days to achieve one level or it could mean one could play for quite some time for very little progress made in game or to achieve a useless result.

GMs are USELESS...i lost over 600k because they wouldnt help me... great stuff
Chinese Farmers...ALL OVER THE PLACE...and 90% of dwarf population is actually farmers...(and there is a lot) .... on sieghardt : they afect the economy too much...everything they sell is WAY OVERPRICED... so when u go on a web site u read the amount u need to buy your c grade equipement..and the stuff needed to make em...u will prolly find them 5 to 10 times as expensive
servers run by powerful korean clans that grief low lv ppl just because they can (i've died TOO much like that)
ooh ...servers...THEYARE SHARED WITH OTHER GAMES AND ARE EXTREMELY UNSTABLE..and u generally die...after a crash...or if u dont...by the time they go up..the area where u were is filled with mobs.. so u die anyway
BOTTOM LINE
___________
not worth your time and money...sure its got good graphics... (if ur machine is good enough to run them ... even if it is...u willl lag anyway)
wait for something better...it will be worth your while...Lineage is not

I played this game closed, open beta and for two months after.
Pros
Most everthing is better than everything.
Cons
Customer Service, but its not just normal awful, its plain disturbing.
Account Theft
Complainers are Pro's at it. They really work hard at sucking the fun out of it.
Overall, I Loved everthing about this game pretty much, it's just my account got stolen it took 8 days to get it straighten out. NCSoft didn't give a crap. so thats it for me. Now I wait for EQ2.
1) Graphics are actually pretty advanced, that is if you keep all of them at max. If you plan on doing any sort of large scale PvP then expect to drop all graphics down to pac man status.
2) Crafting system is lengthy and extensive. You can craft almost any item in the game, and actually hunt to gather the things needed for the items rather than raid.
Cons:
1) The PvP system is hands down the worst I've seen in ages. There is NO I repeat no risk vs. reward in this game. It's an absolute joke I tell you. Dropping items is almost impossible to recover from. If you kill someone and turn red, expect to drop a large sum of your hard work that took you months to obtain. The classes are unbalanced and highly favor magic users who can easily kill you before you even get within 100 feet of them. There is nothing in this game resembling the "old school" UO feel. UO PvP was actually systematic and skill based until macroing, scripting, and all the care bear nerfs. L2 is luck, luck, luck, equipment, level based PvP. If you're higher level and better equipped you will basically always win. This is a game where a level 40 caster can kill a level 60 archer with some blessed spirits and a good staff.
I could easily go into the rest of the things that are horrible about this game, but I'd be here all day. I think all you have to do is sit back and take a look at the entire point of the game, the PvP. It's a PvP based game and you can't escape that fact. There's no aspect of the game that doesn't incorporate the PvP system in it in a large way. Because of this, the game is really not worth the time or money. IF and only IF they if they fixed the buggy, unbalanced, gimped out PvP system this game may have a chance.
i played from open beta to 2 months after. i can pretty much agree with everyone here. the last straw was when i logged off because i was so mad at how retarded the people are in the game. i realized that i've been logging off mad, instead of happy from what i accomplished. that was it for me. it's not the game that ruined it for me, it was all the people. i couldn't stand all the farmers, scammers, PKers, rude, obnoxious and all around imature people. i left with a level 32 wanna-be summoner.
i mean, come on. if you wanted a dwarf to make you something, he/she better be your best friend from 2nd grade, because they WILL scam you. it happened to my fiancee. you have to give them the money and sometimes supplies up front, then they just don't give anything back to you and say they did.
what got on my nerves, is loosing my top that took me 3 weeks of mindless farming to get. i droped it after an unannounced server crash and the mob killed me. i petitioned and they said it's not their problem and they wouldn't replace it. screw that.
I just quit this game after playing the Japan OB, American OB and retail up until now. It is a love or hate game. You can sit on the fence for a while (like I did), but one day you will be forced to decide to either love or hate it...
+ It is a very beautifull game. Character models are great. Monsters, town's and the country side look realy great. And the effects of spells, abilities and soulshots are well done.
+ If you put alot of time and effort in it, you will get that sense of satisfaction when you're top level, decked out in the best gear and in clan that owns a castle.
+ All in all I did have a sense of immersion. That's a great plus for me, I realy felt "at home" in that game. But...
- It is almost impossible for a new player to be able to afford your new gear. Prices of armor and weapons are through the roof. In most games you buy very decent equipment for under the store prices. In this game you're lucky to buy stuff for just a few k over the store pice. This mentality has not changed because of the rampant use off Ebay and sites like Ige.
- As a side note: those proffessional adena farmers are beginning to control market prices. Example is the price of a D-grade weapon enchantment, it has doubled over a few weeks, just because those farmers withheld them from the market.
- Classes and races are nothing special. It's just your standard fantasy setting: fighter, mage, knight, healer, and a few others. These other, interesting, classes are almost impossible to play and level unless your in a big org from the start.
- It's just inhuman the effort you have to make to get your character to a decend level. I thought I was used to a bit of grinding, but this game gave it a whole new meaning. It's great leveling until the early 20's, then you hit the Abandend Camp and Excecution Grounds, still not to hard. Than it's Cruma Tower, and from there on it's "hell"
As I said above, you either love or hate it. There are quite a few ppl who like this kind of gaming. Notice that I didn't say anything about PvP. It virtually non-excistent on the lower levels (sub 40), and since non of my characters ever broke the 38 barrier I cannot comment on it.
I would advice anyone to try this for half a year or so. If only to apreciate other games a lot more

i am extremely pleased i looked into this post,as i have been wondering about this game since it first was made available to north america.I just quit FFX1 for the exact same reasons i am reading here.
Never forget 3 mile Island and never trust a government official or company spokesman.

grind basically means a unit of time to do something to achieve a higher "level" than what your present status is.
When people are Lineage 2 grind is horrible it could mean that one would have to fight for days to achieve one level or it could mean one could play for quite some time for very little progress made in game or to achieve a useless result.
People who have to create conspiracy and hate threads to further a cause lacks in intellectual comprehension of diversity.
GOOD:
Sieges, Female chars, Sieges...female chars...panties....females...
lol
BAD:
everything else ... pretty much
GMs are USELESS...i lost over 600k because they wouldnt help me...

Pros:
If only to apreciate other games a lot more
I compare Lineage 2 to a stereotypical cheerleader - Beautiful , but shallow and without a soul.
