If you loyally follow this game, you've probably looked at a lot of boards and other discussion sections about leaked beta info, and it certainly hasn't been pretty. I can't even count the number of times I've seen AOC called Vanguard 2.0 lately.

Any experienced gamer knows not to judge till game day they can say whatever they want in beta either way there will always be critics.

btw Vanguard is a good game and has tons of potential.

    Vanguard has tons of potential?

Well, you have the most patience of anyone I saw. That game came out 2 years ago and is supposedly still a wreck. After 2 years, you're still saying it has potential?

When exactly is potential supposed to be fulfilled? A decade after release?

Personally, I won't keep giving 15 bucks a month to something with "potential". If it isn't satisfying, my money is better spent elsewhere.

And I am most certainly not being guinea-pigged into another mega-flop mmo missing half of it's stuff at launch, which is what AOC is smelling like from all of the talk. Just look at the preview stuff released this close to launch. Look at the leaked beta talk. Look at every damn video thus far and it's all the same crap (lowbie tortage island stuff, nothing about end-game or pvp really, just talk), with nothing specific.

A ton of videos of some guys TALKING about stuff there will be.

You're a sucker if you buy this game before being able to play at least a pre-order beta.

You guys talk like you've never gone to a bad movie (or movies for that matter).

Sometimes when the activity offers some very subjective form of entertainment, nothing can beat a trial.

Sometimes it's also better to try and know you don't like than don't try and wonder if following other people's opinions was the best course of action.

I'm a veteran gameplayer but even if AoC has no open beta, I'll be playing it.  To be honest, I don't care if its good or bad..I just want a filler until Warhammer releases(and I pray daily that warhammer will be as good as UO, EQ1, DAoC, and WoW has been, in the long term).  I agree that its nice to pre-play a game to make sure its not a flop, but one poster had the right of it; some movies are good and some are crap but we still go to them.

The only thing I worry about when not being able to open beta a game before release is WILL IT WORK ON MY COMPUTER.  It should be a criminal offense to put minimum requirements on a box that are unplayable(unplayable = 10FPS or lower, or cannot finish download, or black screen of death).  I preordered this game in Gamestop or EBGames(can't remember which), but I've been buying my mmorpg games lately from WalMart because you can return the crap if its actually broken.

Thanks for the info! Maybe you can help me on other thing, i checked the different places where i can pre-order the game, and some of the ones i'd like do it from are not from english speaking countries, like north of europe, some mention it is in german language, other don't. Should i pre-order from some place in UK to be safe?

Sorry to bother, and maybe with noob questions, but since i'm so willing to play it, and i'm about to spend money on it, just want to be sure ;)

    Thanks ahead!

There are no AoC edition available in other languages than English (yet). So I would advise you to pre-order from a shop closest to your country. Since the travel distance will be less and the same goes for the shipping fee.

Yeah, and it's a damn shame all the people who are actually ENJOYING the game can't speak about it because they are trustworthy and are actually keeping to the NDA they signed.

Too bad there are so many sheep out there that take these "leaks" (as if that's a badge of achievement or something) as gospel instead of waiting and trying the game for themselves to see if they like it.

As for IGN, I'll pass. $30 for a site that I may only use once every few years and that's only if they have open beta keys. Not economical. If they offer patches to single player games it's still a waste as I can get said patches from Gamespot.com for free. No problem waiting until May 14th to download the game and May 17th to start playing for keeps.

and do they actually still send you the physical disc even though you can download the game to play 3 days early?

The codes to pre-play the game last 10 days, therefore, by May 27th, you have to have that physical copy, and they will still mail it to you if you ordered it online.

Yeah i know.... it's all about the bonuses and the days ahead :S

  • SineathSineath Member Posts: 224

If its all about the bonuses to you, then why not use that extra 40 dollars and buy 1k of gold instead of buying the special edition?

  • Cway214Cway214 Member UncommonPosts: 92

what worries me is that I pre-ordered teh CE edition from an EB games location, not online.  It says they will email the early download codes and stuff, well the store didnt take my email address.  Hopefully they will get some kind of card I can go pick up, but this also worries me since sometimes the workers tehre are clueless.

  • LimonesLimones Member Posts: 95

I don't want to scare you or anything, but at the product information it was stated in bold that they need my e-mail adress if I pre-ordered the CE-edition. So they could email me the Rhino code AND so Eidos could email me on the 14th with the information to download the Client. If I were you I would cancel the order at the shop and pre-order the CE-edition online.

Well, what i meant was, being not sure it pre-ordering it online from a closer country or from a far one, is all about the bonuses, cause the best bonuses, like days ahead for example, are in in not so close countries, to me ofc ;)

Not aware of the 1k gold thing tho...

I was unsure of how they would get it to me as well so I called them and they told me to come back to the store, show my receipt and then give them my e-mail address.  I suggest you do the same.
