Hmm, I'd say both will have its fair share of PVE content, BUT WAR's main focus will be RvR combat. So, I'd say AoC may have a bit more PVE content for you.
    2. Which one allows you to level up without absolutely requiring groups/parties to get anything done? Don't get me wrong, I love to instance or do group quests, but not at the price of having forced to do it just to progress. Is it possible to level up without a heavy reliance on groups?
I haven't had the chance to try out WAR yet, but AoC is very solo friendly, even when it comes to some boss fights. There's also a Single player mode when doing "destiny" quests where its like playing a structured console RPG. So, as of now I'm gonna say AoC definitely wont force you to group, but I believe WAR will be more group oriented.
    3. Which one has the most fun combat mechanics, since that's what I enjoy most in games. I have always picked melee characters (either a tank or melee dps? I don't like hack and slashes but prefers depth in the combat mechanics.
After watching many combat Vids of WAR, I believe it will feature a MUCH MUCH MUCH better and extremely fun combat system. WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY better than AoC.. I'm not a fan of the whole 3-4-5 step combo system in AoC where u have to click an attack then click the correct < > arrow keys to unleash the attack in a rapid and timed fashion. It's definitely not traditional, but it is challenging. "So, I'm gonna have to say WAR will feature better combat mechanics"
    4. Which one requires less of a grind, a type of MMO where you can play 2 hours a day and still get something done. I have a really busy personal/professional life (i.e. being a lawyer and about to be a father). I would want a game where I can just play for a spurts at a time after a hard day at work.
Hmm, that remains to be seen bro. AoC has a fast leveling curve, but WAR may feature the same thing as well. I believe both games deserve a even tie on this question.
    5. I guess I want something different than WoW after 2.5 years. I didn't like the end game raid-grind because I can't devote 4-5 hours a night, 4-5 days a week.
Hmm, both games will feature end game raiding. And both will probably require mulitple groups of guildmates to defeat the hardest PVE content in the game. Although, WAR will be somewhat like DAOC where u can just log in for a couple hours and jump in a RVR battle and get that sweet taste of victory when you annihilate your enemies for a couple hours.  So I'd say WAR gets the check mark on #5 due to the fact it will give you more possibilities and options to do what u want when u want and still be able to achieve your goals.

Thanks in advance for comments and suggestions.

    None.

dont join the bandwagon on these overhyped games.

Aion, TCoS, Jumpgate EVO are better games depending on what does it for you.

Take abit of your time and do some research on those, you might be surprised.

Dont throw away money on pre-orders at least until you get in open-beta or some kind of trial/demo/buddy key program.

Be smart and dont make the rich ones richer based on hype and publicity.

Hmm thats odd to say Aion,TCos, Jumpgate EVO are better games followed by depending on what does it for you when the question is asked about WAR pr AOC. how do you know either of those 2 are what does it for these people. The bigger question is how would you know they  re both over hyped and these other games are better have you played them all?

    1. Prefers PvE more than PvP, but still likes to PvP on occasion?  Both games are good for this.  AoC is built aruond PvE levels or PvP levels and are considered different systems entirely.    WAR on the other hand has RvR pvp...its voluntary just like the PvE is voluntary.  There's 40 levels and you can do either activity to gain xp, renown, items & skills.
    2. Which one allows you to level up without absolutely requiring groups/parties to get anything done? Don't get me wrong, I love to instance or do group quests, but not at the price of having forced to do it just to progress. Is it possible to level up without a heavy reliance on groups?
Im going to say WAR here for sure.  WAR has PQ's, exploration, tome of knowledge, and realm cooperation.  None of which requires you to join a group you just happen to be working alongside others automatically.    There's little instancing other than PvP scenarios & end bosses to all dungeons.   There's been no talk of Raids unlike AoC's End Game which is built around groups, guilds, and yes raids.   But you should still be able to solo right nicely so ...  Take your Pick...
    3. Which one has the most fun combat mechanics, since that's what I enjoy most in games. I have always picked melee characters (either a tank or melee dps? I don't like hack and slashes but prefers depth in the combat mechanics.  This is at this point unknown and very subjective.   It'll come down to hands on experience on which you like better.   I like the idea of building up to power ful attacks more than semi live action.
    4. Which one requires less of a grind, a type of MMO where you can play 2 hours a day and still get something done. I have a really busy personal/professional life (i.e. being a lawyer and about to be a father). I would want a game where I can just play for a spurts at a time after a hard day at work.  I'm going to again say WAR to me sounds like less of a grind..everything has a purpose and a place.  PQ's take 15 to 30 mins...Scenarios are 15 to 20 mins...the longest things to do are Sieges & Keeps since Open RvR goes until another side just gives up or is killed off entirely for the moment.     The Devs themselves in a recent article called their 40 levels introductory / tutorial levels.   Which usualy means ou can blow through them fast...but if you want to keep your Renwon level equal to your normal level up to 40 anyway...you probably dont want to power game to much.
I can't speak for AoC on this..there's 80 pve levels...it could be long or it could be short...but in the end which ever one poses the most Fun for you means its less of a grind feel.
    5. I guess I want something different than WoW after 2.5 years. I didn't like the end game raid-grind because I can't devote 4-5 hours a night, 4-5 days a week.
If you dont like Raid Grind I'd be extremely wary of AoC...its being built for the hard core set in the end.   Something thats rarely done ...and while I know raiders & realm owning guilds will love it...I'm just not sure I'd personally like it.   ok i knwo i wouldn't..and if you wouldn't I'd be wary.  I wouldn't say No to AoC incase you do like it ...but I think you'd enjoy WAR more.
Thanks in advance for comments and suggestions.

AoC -   Raids, Guild Cities, Guild Reliant Crafting,  High Level Crafting Needs in PvP zones, Seperate PvP system, blood point system, drunken brawling, naked chicks, hardcore to the bone, lots and lots of fairly intituitive sounding quests.   Watch your back...Your faction doesn't have to like you.

WAR - Public quests, tome of knowledge, achievement system, renown system, level through pve or pvp.  RvR, Open World Keep Sieges, Scenarios, realm / faction cooperation, semi casual.  Living Cities (the longer your race protects your race the more options & dungeons & items open to your people of coruse the moment you get raided these things belong temporarily to the enemy!  And you have to build it up over again).  Raids...so far there's little mention of large scale PvE raids..the game's focus is on City Sieging which is done through PvE & PvP.

Both games are chalking up to be really good...they have lofty goals...and highly excited fans on both side.  But I have to admit..they are targetting very different types of players.   Just some players are diverse so..I expect to see some people who enjoy both games.

Please Refer to Doom Cat with all conspiracies & evil corporation complaints. He'll give you the simple explination of..WE"RE ALL DOOMED!

Well, if that is what it has come down to for you, AoC or WAR, why not just find a guild playing both! ^^ I am sure through CE's people will be willing to hand out trial buddy keys or what have you. Unfortunately the only way to find out what game is for you is to actually play them, and trials are the only way to do so without wasting money. Try them both, there could be tons of reviews out there that claim is game is great or bad but they are still just a matter of opinions.

The problem is it can be hard for a lot of people to know the difference between generous, honest marketing from a developer that doesn't suck and dishonest hype from one who does.

Theres no such thing as Honest Marketing company's make games to sell them. The key is to research it and decide for yourself.

    "

Baiscally war shines in PvP, whereas AoC shines in everything else. But, AoC also has good PvP such as it's sieges. "

i loled RL , one of the major  reasons why beta was canceled and the new delay of  WAR  is the broken pvp status.

Anyway seems  everyone can play both since War will be taking too long  till released , even if Aoc gets another delay

My biggest and legitimate fear is the month of May and June AoC players will wish Funcom took more time. I'm probably gonna try both, but tbh, I dont mind waiting for WAR.

    --------------------------------------
A human and an Elf get captured by Skaven. The rat-men are getting ready to shoot the first hostage with Dwarf-made guns when he yells, "Earthquake!" The naturally nervous Skaven run and hide from the imaginary threat. He escapes. The Skaven regroup and bring out the Elf. Being very smart, the Elf has figured out what to do. When the Skaven get ready to shoot, the Elf, in order to scare them, yells, "Fire!"

Play both! I am seriously so happy Mythic pushed WAR back and I hope that FunCom sees this an an opportunity to extend their development as well.
