Been bored as hell of runescape... don't even play anymore really. I'd like considerably better graphics, gameplay, quests, and community. Clan play would be cool. Can anyone recommend one, besides WoW?
If you like PVP/Politics and have a lot of time to invest, then EVE would be a good choice. Community plays a big part in the game. If you're after a more traditional settings, LOTRO has the best graphics/community I've encountered in an MMO thus far.
If your ok with paying a monthly sub ($15/ month on average) there are a bunch of games out with free trials (most run about 14 days) such as EQ2, and a few others. everquest2.station.sony.com/
You also have games like Anarchy Online (which is free to play for the basic game, and monthly sub for the expanded portions). Its a Scifi MMO with 2 factions (Omni-Tek and Clan). www.anarchy-online.com/
Im sure if you kick around the forums you will find other games that offer free trials, and the trials would be your best bet to form an opinion.
There are 3 types of people in the world. 1.) Those who make things happen 2.) Those who watch things happen 3.) And those who wonder "What the %#*& just happened?!"
I'd definitely recommend the DDO trial. Combat unlike any other MMO out there, fantastic deep questing, probably the most custom character development you'll find.
I play Vanguard and thoroughly enjoy it. Others have there reasons for disliking it (mostly because of the poor performance at launch, I suppose). Listen to their complaints but keep in mind that performance has greatly improved and the game is fairly polished. And don't let someone who doesn't play the game convince you that it's "dead." It's got a vibrant and growing community that's much more helpful and, in my opinion, more mature than other MMOs I've played. My favorite aspects: class design and skills graphics openness-the game is huge both physically and in terms of content. On top of 15 classes and even more races there are also three crafting classes and a cool and well developed diplomacy system. A single character can engage fully in all three of these "spheres." On top of that there are boats and player housing (both of which are player created through crafting). Adventuring content is challenging The lore (try diplomacy if you're into this)
Yeah you cant deny it Vanguard is a different game now than it was at launch, It makes me glad I got my Station Pass still running !
Well, it all depends on what you like to pay. If you are not up for paying a monthly fee then there is only one fun game with good graphics out there: Guildwars. The main programmer on it were MP on games like Warcraft 3 before(and the first main programmer on WOW, he jumped of blizzard cause he didn't want monthly fees) , the programming is the best seen. The bad news is that all areas except the cities are instanced. Still best Pvp i seen, not about gear but just how good player you are.
I am currently playing EQ2 myself, its quite a nice game with a lot of good features like appearance slots so your characters not looks like crap, possibility to change stuff like hairstyle for a gold and quite a lot of other nice features. It does however need a quite descent computer to look good, GW looks good on a 5 years old one. And it costs $15 a month to play. If you are buying it stay away from the EU servers however (same with Vanguard BTW) and play the Us even if you are from EU, the EU servers tend to lagg, guess they are old or something. This is not a game for PVP fans however, the PVP is bad and unbalanced.
Then there is a few other games coming soon that are good, Conan is really nice if you have a state of the art computer, The PVP game thats coming out in a few moths Warhammer is really nice (just played it 15 mins on D3 so i could be wrong) and Guildwars 2 will be out in a year or so, and it will be without monthly costs.

I have a problem following some of the MMO's... RS was so simple. Is EVE hard?
