Funcom has released new info for players looking forward to PvPing in Age of Conan. This short info piece tells us about PvP mini games, siege PvP and more.
Your PvP options include:
Age of Conan sports a number of choices for the PvP player, everything from casual, instant fun minigames to massive siege battles to an entire PvP server with friends to make and foes to kill.
PvP Minigames
Age of Conan’s PvP minigames are intended as “pick up and play” fun, something easy to get into solo or with a group of friends, a way to hop right into the action when you want something fast and furious, more akin to an FPS match than traditional MMO combat.
Age of Conan’s PvP minigames include:
Capture the Skull
You will join one of two teams with the goal of capturing the opposing side’s skull as many times as possible. They will, of course, not take kindly to this and will try to stop you.
Team Annihilation
You will join one of two teams, with the goal being to kill as many players on the opposing team as you possibly can. Of course, they’ll be trying to do the same to you.
Massive PvP/Siege PvP
Head out to the Border Kingdom with your guild, or hire yourself out for pay, and wage epic battles for control of player-owned battlekeeps. There are a limited number of these battlekeeps on each server, meaning combat will be fast and furious, and the benefits of owning one mean guilds will fight tooth and nail to keep theirs (or take away someone else’s!)

PvP Servers
For those who just can’t get enough PvP, Age of Conan features PvP-flagged servers, with rules allowing widespread PvP, and PvP-RP servers, which not only allow for lots and lots of PvP, but also feature a robust ruleset encouraging roleplaying and staying in-character.
Advancement
PvP also has its own system of leveling and advancement, with dedicated PvP levels, feats, and so forth, for those who do well or spend a lot of time PvPing. This system will complement the regular advancement system, allowing you to further tune your character to your own tastes.
Drunken Brawling
You will proceed to one of the designated taverns, get drunk out of your mind, and take wild, drunken swings at friends and foes alike.

Sweet! All this with regualr ganking, sounds really good. Also, life as a mercenary sounds very tempting.
Hmm...I just might have to look at the PvP RP server when I start playing this. I shall be the Destroyer of Worlds...Muahahaha!!!
Drunken brawling... why has this not been done before? Greatness
Sounds good but they need to leave the minigames off the pvp servers.
3 Points on Seige Warfare:
I am very glad they are appearing to make Battlekeeps attackable instantly, during a vulnerable window. This is in contrast to Shadowbane that would set both a date and time a couple of days in advance. This was fine too, but the guild-set attackable time window still allows for a little bit of surprise, and gives guilds a reason to hire guards and look-outs which is just plain cool.
The 2nd point I am concerned about. They never mention anything about a cool-down window between attacks. If your guild is able to defend itself against an attack what's to stop the other guild from trying again the next day during the window, or the day after, or the day after? Or are they going to make the vulnerable window set for a certain time and a certain day of the week?
Lastly, is there any limit to when guilds can set themselves to be vulnerable? Will it be something like 9am-9pm M-F and 1am-Midnight(24 hours) Sat and Sun? If so, that would give guilds a very important choice. They can set the vulnerability at times where most people are at work/school(Weekdays) or asleep(On weekends) to discourage large attack forces, or they can set it during prime-time to be able to gather the larger force themselves. Very interesting.
When wow put in CTF I quit. Totally takes away from teh pvp / politics / hardcore feel .. not that wow ever was hardcore .. or fun for that matter .. but anyways .. the ctf stuff ill play call of duty if I want that garbage.
Someone tell the trolls to read the part about massive siege pvp and the link there too.
IT IS IN THE GAME
Developers that feel the need to add mini games to a MMOG are basically saying their MMOG sucks and won't hold your interest.
I thought it was to add more content
I thought it was to add more content
Exactly! and for those who enjoy a break from the norm.
Structured mini games have a place in PvP ~ looks at Guild Wars for eg.
Did I mention for those who think Sieging will be an after add on to AoC to read the part in the first post! Oh yes I did... lol
