Bribes & Delays!

They are bribing people to stick waiting another 6 month of hell with collectors edition and flashy new look on site!

Im really looking forward to see warhammer online "online"..  They are starting to sell pre-orders collectors edition 6 month before lunch, Oh, if you havn't heard: War is delayed to fall 2008, that means Q3 or Q4, well probably delayed to x-mas 2008; maybe they are aiming for the best christmas Present? Well if the game really is delayed until fall im going to start playing something else, until/instead..

I mean, the next gen mmo. yeah if its out soon.. But soon, other game companies going to come out in market.. I know they are going to make it better and they are pushing the release date as far as they can, just because they want the game really good.. They are going to change stuff anyways because the players feed backs will be greater when the game is out, compare to the feedback from the beta testers...

You know what im really hoping for?

Please god make this "delay" be a aprils fools joke!

I must say that I could see a delay coming, it's very rare that any company manages to hold their dates nowadays. What I'm hoping more for is that this is the last delay and that the game is released polished and without too many bugs.

They can bribe me happily with the CE, the Pre order Program, access to open beta and the head start program.   *pets her pretty pretty pretty codes*

Bribe away Mythic.   We all saw this coming considering we dont know about crafting (barely anyway), several class mastery paths, an actual class, and several siege things.

We dont have to know everything, we discover that into the game ^^

I think it was put like this  "If we were a game company with a deadline and a 2nd rate publisher we would rush a un-complete beta on the market and hope people still suscribe so we can use that money to not do anything except release minor bug fixes and a new NPC or two every 5 months."

'  BUT we have EA backing us, no deadlines, and the goal of releasing a glorius, polished, and next generation MMO on to the market with the ability to work on the game until we feel it is all of the above." Mythic has the resources now to do whatever they want. You want an MMO now? Make one yourself if its so easy to make release dates.

No game releases EVER without telling you all the classes, about the basics of crafting etc.  Those are necessary features to attract customers.  If they aren't ever mentioned People will turn away.   To think otherwise is to pray for the game to release too early and we have a...a flop.    While I hate the wait...I'd rather know they're polishing and game features are mostly complete...if your so impatient well :) Bye

I wish I never got obsessed with reading message boards !

We all know everything and were sure of it. We jump on anyone with a guess, we argue like there is no tomarrow, and we all fool ourself thinking that release dates are facts even if we have experience from other games, we get let down and back the next day for more. Whats wrong with us ?

I blame the game industry for announcing games 3 or 4 years before they even come out, and they give small hints of releasing soon, WHATS WITH THAT ?, even car makers my tell you one year ahead but they deliver in one year !

Well everyone, I'll see you tomarrow

wonder if the delay has anything to do with the launch of aoc? didn't want  to launch against it?

Who isn't dissapointed? I'm glad they made the decision. But it's very hurting to say the least because I really have nothing to play at the moment... nothing... yup

Push it as far back as you need to I say.  People will complain if it's delayed and people will complain if it's released unfinished.  You can't win so you might as well have an upstanding game to back you up.

And if the AoC launch doesn't meet expectations / performs badly / has tons of gameplay or techincal issues a few months after launch? This point was mentioned in another thread as well. Take your time Mythic. It's a gamble but I say long-term quality over instant gratification.

A human and an Elf get captured by Skaven. The rat-men are getting ready to shoot the first hostage with Dwarf-made guns when he yells, "Earthquake!" The naturally nervous Skaven run and hide from the imaginary threat. He escapes. The Skaven regroup and bring out the Elf. Being very smart, the Elf has figured out what to do. When the Skaven get ready to shoot, the Elf, in order to scare them, yells, "Fire!"

But your assuming that the game will be polished to the extreme upon release (war) AoC has about 2 yrs dev time over warhammer, but then again thats not guaranteed either for quality (maybe quantity). And you can read into that and see correlation too from the marketing from both games.

The more either game gets delayed too, the more expectation there is for a highly finished product, and this time you will have to wait 6 months to compare both for launch quality. (then again AoC would have 6 months extra polish to compete with for warhammers release, if you really want to compare them in that regard)

Long term quality is important, lets hope they don't forget the quantity either. These games need something to keep you.

It looks to me that the delay was for missing or unfinished core elements in the game of warhammer rather than competition woes.

Yup you're right, they need to implement and test crafting as well as the white lion class. I'm not saying it'll be ultra-polished (but that's my hope and expectation of course, hehe.) If AoC has a bad launch, it'll play well for Mythic, either way Funcom does have 6 months to improve it before WAR comes out. That's why it's a gamble by Mythic. Who knows how this will really play out, eh? I like both games and I'm gonna be playin WAR no matter when it's released.

Just slighty off topic a bit :P

The White Lion Class, have they officially announced that yet? and is it the only other class apart from Squig Hearder that has a pet? (lion) ? Sounds interesting :P

  • Ascension08Ascension08 Member Posts: 1,980

Ahh sorry jumped ahead there, there's alot of rumors that that's the final High Elf class, but no, no official announcements yet.

    Sorry

btw someone mentioned curiousity on why the delay.  Its for Polish.  Mark said the game would be ready in Q2 but it turns out it wasn't leaving them enough time for proper polish.  There's way more indepth reasons n such on Warhammer Alliance through the Dev Tracker, Gamespot and IGN.com.  And I think there was something in the news section here too.

They decided instead of pulling a bait n switch like some companies do they'd tell us before we run out and buy the CE...i bought mine anyway..im playing the game when it comes out..I have my reasons for why I'm so enamored with the game...I only wish I could state them.

For a finished polished game, I can wait a little while longer. Makes me feel better about the game to know the Devs would rather give us a FINISHED game instead of one that wasnt ready.

  • LouiseKLouiseK Member Posts: 258

I think it is fairly evident that games realeased unfinished are doomed now that thre are so many alternatives available.

Vanguard was a great game, it looked great and had way more potential than people give it credit for... (go on, you know you wanna slate it :P)

They released it far from finished and they paid the price - last i heard they only have one server still up and running.

I would rather wait until 2010 for WAR to come out and end up with a game that i can get really into and play to its full extent, instead of it being released unfinished and disappointing, flopping and then leaving me playing a little bit of this and little bit of that just to pass the time... until a new game is fully developed - hello 2015 Oo

I think that they have released the CE for preorder simply because all the details have been finalised, so why wait when they can get it sorted?

Worst case scenario - people pre-order, decide the game still looks crap towards release, and then they cancel the order.

I wonder myself about the disguise of the DELAY with the CE release.  I think it is odd that EA would release the CE and in a finer note.... oh.. by the way we are depaying until FALL?  WTF... with all the hype and flash who really saw this coming?

  • KckStrtKckStrt Member Posts: 39

TO ADD.... I really think they needed the money we are paying for the CE to help fund the rest of the game... Go figure.

I doubt Mythic needs any more money seeying that the are working in conjunction with EA games.

What money is Mythic going to get without releasing their game? EB Games can't take a 5 dollar preorder on a Collector's Edition and then send it to Mythic... people can cancel their preorders. I think you are mad you got embarrassed in your other thread when you posted inaccurate information and now you are slinging mud around the forums.
