Why they announced the DELAY after the CE release?

Anyone else think it is kind of odd that EA announced the delay of the launch date AFTER they announced the CE release and all that fancy goodness that comes with it? I wish we could see just how popular the CE would have been had the DELAY not been disguised and in some cases invisible in CE hype!

I recall the press release specifically stating they did not want to announce the CE before the delay?
I found about both at the same time...

They announced the content of the CE edition to diminish the bad reaction for the delay. Duh.

I havent followed WAR at ALL. infact, i know nothing of it lol. but i suspected that a reason behind it may have been because of AoC. reaslesing after there enemie would give them better insight on things.......

I ordered my CE at 9am EST... and see that WarCry did the interview about 11/2 hours later. I'm just saying it would have been nice to know about the delay LONG before the release of CE... You think they didn't know they were going to DELAY it? It's fine, make the game better, but be up front. I think they need some cash flow to get this thing finished, that is the only reason they did a CE release 6 months or so before the launch.
That is bad finding on your part than. The truth is the delay was announced during the same time basically, but it was announced at the event before they announced the CE. Fan sites and the like obviously get more hits when you talk about an amazing CE first though. Mark Jacobs told people to wait to order it as well.
I'm also positive they announced the delay before the CE so no worries needed there ^^

Regardless, doesn't matter which was announced 1st! ...and I doubt this had anything to do with AoC........I applaud Mythic for speaking up about whats going on and wanting to take as much time as needed to make sure WAR is complete unlike; ahem....Funcom; keeping everything in the dark and the only real news is from beta testers...

Why did you announce the date now? We could have waited to announce a delay, and in doing so take advantage of the hype surrounding the of the Collector’s Edition to sell a ton of copies. However, that has never been the way we’ve done business and that is not about to change now. We’ve always told the community that when a delay was necessary we would tell them right away, and we’re doing just that. I wish I could say all other developers do this but the fact is that they don't. We did what's right for the game but delaying the release and what's right for the community by announcing it now.

Read my various posts here on this forum. I have been hinting at what the CE was, hinting at when they would announce the CE, hinting at the delay, hinting at when they would announce the delay... ever get the idea maybe I know something most others don't. You don't call out your sources on a public forum for the sake of proving your point in an argument but I can say that I know somebody who was over there and doing coverage on the game. Cell phones are a wonderful thing.

I understand your frustration. The entire point is, after Vanguard and LoTRO, all the companies are on notice that you can release a quality game in a quality state like Blizzard did because LoTRO proved it can be done. It also proves if you release in a p.o.s. state, the community will back lash and sink you game like it did with regards to VanguardSoH. Funcom and EA/Mythic both know they must release in a very high quality state or suffer PoTBS and Vanguard's fate. All you have to do is look at TR,Fury, HG:L, PoTBS and you will see if you launch too earily, it sucks to be you.
All of these games have one thing in common. You only get ONE chance to make a first impression.

What is your problem again?
You an cancel your CE at any time before the open beta, probably after too... A preorder is pretty much just reserving a copy incase you want one.
Think about it - they start developing a game and they decided they want to release a kick ass CE to go with it and set teams sorting each one out.
The dev of the game is delayed and the CE team finish on time. If the release hadn't been delayed, this would be about the right time to release CE details anyway.
Another reason they may have announced the delay and the CE at the same time is that the CE comes with an open beta key. Hence, players who are obsessed with WAR (the same ones who are most likely to buy the CE anyway) may not want to wait even longer for a taste of the game and so they have an incentive to preorder the CE.
In my case, it worked. If they need more time to finish the game, so be it. But dammit, I want to play!

I don't think he is a troll and I don't think this post is an attempt at trolling.Obviously, he's pissed because he didn't get the report of the delay when he got the report of the CE. I'd say that's bad journalism on the MMO news peoples part if infact they were announced at the same time.
However, I heard of the delay long before I heard of the CE right here in this forum at MMORPG - so good job all of you.

Same here. I preordered my CE yesterday. Its possible they announced it to show the beta key is still worth something.
I thought it a little odd they announced both at same time. I just hope they dont delay it again!!
I guess they thought the collectors edition announcement would counter the delay announcement.

Ok... I still have mine on order, just wanted to start playing in June, this fuckin' game better kick ass in Oct. or some body's gonna have hell to pay.
