I was just looking over some polls re armies and career selections and as per usual, there seems to be a definate lean towards the Order.
I was thinking of going Destruction so i was wondering if any information had been released about how army imbalance might affect the enjoyment of the game or if it will someone how be controlled?
It would really suck if i was suffering constant penalties because it was 10 vs 1 on the server that i chose...
Any info?

Im not a beta-tester but this seems to me to be under the NDA. Only thing i have heard is that there are possibly going to be Dog's of War in scenerios and guards on the keeps in open World RvR.
First and Foremost Chaos Reigns!
It has been many years, but in DAoC I seem to remember that when one side outnumbered any other side there was some sort of balancing that went on...I think...
That Guild Wars 2 login screen knocked up my wife. Must be the second coming!
A s I recall reading. many of the RvR areas will be instanced. As such they can control it to ensure equal sides. Also, I believe NPCs can created and be used to balance underpopulated sides.
In regards to the instancing, as I recall the WoW days, being on the Over-populated side was a detriment. HUGE Que lines and wait times, whereas the underpopulated sides was in one ..done..and on to the next instantaneously
Torrential
Torrential: DAOC (Pendragon)
Awned: World of Warcraft (Lothar)
Torren: Warhammer Online (Praag)
DAoC also had underbalanced incentives like exp/drop bonuses to attract players who rerolled on an imbalanced server.
Scenarios are instanced PvP, RvR zones are not instanced. The RvR zone is in the open world. The following video provides explanation: http://youtube.com/watch?v=ApYSgxl_l00

Why is it necessary to intervene if things get unbalanced? Personally, I like playing the underdog.
Because there are always way more whiners out there that can't take challenge and they ruin for the few that do love it!

Being an underdog is cool and all, until people realize the entire game is based around progressing towards the enemy capital and there's no way in hell they'll ever be able to do it with their numbers.
That's interesting because in the last few threads I saw about this people were afraid that Destruction will outnumber Order.
Some polls show interest in Destruction, while others are overwhelmingly in favor of Order.
The remaining polls are split down the middle, give or take a few.
Overpopulation is always blown out of proportion and should be the last thing you worry about.
Just worry about picking a race and class. Let Mythic deal with any slight population imbalances.
It's not the slight imbalances people are worried about, you should know this.
Or are you somehow sure they will only be slight?
This game especially, where people will see their own progression directly linked to the realms ability to progress the WAR (Best stuff available in Enemy City) I think you'll start to see that any overpopulation will become an incredible annoyance to plenty of people.
Daoc had many things going for it to make it less bad. 3 realms, Worst thing you could gain/lose was a relic with some bonuses. Now the progression is linked, that's another beast entirely.
They better pray that somehow everything magically balances itself out, or that their Dogs of War and Cross Server Battlegrounds are enough to make the difference.
Sure, there are reasons overpopulation could occur.
Though I personally don't see it becoming a server-breaking problem.
Perhaps i'm too positive on the issue, but I never worried about population on DAoC, and I most likely won't worry about it with WAR. The Mids would rule the server for a while, but a few months later things would shift over to Albion, then to Hibernia, back to Midguard, back to Albion and so on. This time it will have to go back and forth between only two sides, and various racial battlegrounds. Hopefully they use an indicator as to what realm is needed on the server lists (like DAoC). It doesn't seem like much but it always helps.
Either way Mythic has a few months to think of ways to counter such things, if they havn't already done so.
All I wanna know is: Where are all the PVE Alliance players from WoW going to mostly playing?
So I can roll against them!
Made the mistake of playing a Dwarf Hunter, then realising how crap the allies where at pvp :P
So Far Im completey undecided... Dwarf Iron Breaker or Black Orc. CANT DECIDE!
They'll all be playing World of Warcraft....I guess you could always roll a toon and pretend the enemy you're bashing on the head are the annoying zealots from WoW. (no i dont mean all wow players are zealots but there are alot of them are!)
On topic here *rubs chin* they've not really specified but they've casually mentioned a few ideas they were throwing around last year..no idea what they may of settled on. I'm hoping whatever the incentive is that its powerful enough to actually attract players and that there's someway when your choosing servers it tells you which ones need players for certain realms or races. If anything hopefully its some sort of morale booster allowing them to say use their stronger abilities faster or more often to try and even the fight out while one side is heavily under populated.
With the game currently delayed and only crafting, final HE class, and a few other things left out of the information loop hopefully this will be one of the news releases in the next few months as well.
