Guys,
This was a response to a similar post that was closed earlier in the day. The response came from "Famine", the Community Coordinator:
"No announcements have been made on Age of Conan supporting in-game advertisements and we are not currently planning to do so.
Going to close the topic so rumors and more speculation don't start flying.

above is just a straight copy paste.....and Trolls take a moment and just think....it took funcom almost 4-5 years before they added in game ads to AO....why on earth do you REALLY think they are going to put them in AOC....
sigh....i guess the amount of subject matter to troll with is getting thinner and thinner everyday
and to drive one more dagger into the heart of this topic...Funcom also responded to a german fansite saying AOC will not have in game ads and this is a standard agreement from Eidos
No, I won't just let this die as you suggested in another thread.
Being #5 in their EULA list means it is important to the company. The company has said the game is not F2P but subscription based. Them having an in-game advertising section in their EULA is insult enough to people that will be paying $15 a month or more to play the game. Then you add in the fact that EIDOS will give your name, user name, address, email address, etc to companies is just down right wrong.
What is going to happen here is that with their an expansion or patch, Funcom is going to announce in-game advertising to make the world seem more real. Then when people complain about it, Funcom will point back to beta and say that in-game advertising has been in the EULA since day ONE and no one bitched about.
You don't see Funcom executives addressing this issue because "at this time" they don't have plans for in-game advertising. Right now they don't have plans for guild beta either, but that doesn't mean that before launch there won't be a guild beta.
For a company that says there will not be in-game advertising with regards to AoC, they could easily clear up the air and have that section removed from the EULA. But they don't. They keep it in the EULA for a reason. So if they want to milk more out of their cow they can.
Fear not fanbois, we are not trolls, let's take off your tin foil hat and learn what VAPORWARE is:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vaporware
"Vaporware is a term used to describe a software or hardware product that is announced by a developer well in advance of release, but which then fails to emerge after having well exceeded the period of development time that was initially claimed or would normally be expected for the development cycle of a similar product."
They have responded to your concerns. I highly doubt they will go out of their way to please you. Have you purchased their product? Have they sold your information to another party? If not, then you have no reason to be concerned.
MMO Vet since AOL Neverwinter Nights circa 1992. My MMO beat up your MMO. =S
one thing you dodge once again...AO is a 7 year old game...and even in that game paying $15 a months makes all the ads go bye bye
and yeah your personal info is being gathered...im not going discuss my personal stance on the subject but dont make it look like this is a new issue.....lots of hugely popular companies do the same exact thing...Steam anyone? Turbine? Mythic? Bioware?...just saying this is old ,old ,hardly even news worthy...news, its up to you...if you dont want your personal info gathered then dont use their service simple as that
discuss the issue of protecting your personal information that is fine...but dont make it look like Eidos is the only "bad guy" doing this
