Get it now at Best Buy (I thought it was funny)

I just took this with my camera phone today at Best Buy.  Actually there are 3 different Best Buys within 15 miles of each other where I live in Los Angeles, and they all still have them on the shelves.  Enjoy and get em while they're HOT!  They've got lots of copies left.

LOL I was in my local Gamestop the other day and the guy opened one of the drawers to get a game I had held there and I saw the same exact thing. I told him that the game had been canceled. He asked how I knew, so I told him I was in the Beta when they closed down. He said that was the first he had heard about it.

That's nice. Now I can finally play the game, even if it got canceled! Or wait... what do you mean not the full game and no servers to play on?

who was the distributor/publisher of that game?

isnt that their responsibility, to pull boxes and inform retailers that the product is discontinued?  I would think so.

*edit* I think I already knew the answer to this question.  For some reason I dont want to be the one to say it so I wont :P

In the end it was Perpetual that was the publisher/distributer. They reworked the deal with SOE for support and that was it, and seeing as perpetual no longer exists, theres no one to reclaim the boxes,

I wonder how hard it would be to make an emulator for it? I mean, people have been working on an Earth & Beyond emulator and work on that didn't start until AFTER the servers got shut down.

Wouldn't it be a friggin' riot if some gamers went ahead and finished the game on their own?  How much you wanna bet that someone would crawl out of the woodwork and claim rights to the game before suing for a cut of the "profits."

You know what's sad is I actually wanted to try this game out (never got to play beta).  I know lots of people were saying it was boring and broken during the beta testing phase, but I love Greek and Roman Mythology so I wouldn't of minded playing it for a month or two.

With that said I'm gonna go play some Titan Quest now.

EDIT: And now that I fired up Titan Quest, it got me to thinking and made me sad since Iron Lore (the developer of the game) is now out of business.  Ugh.

I was in the beta too...unfortunately. Such potential. They should have named it "Lies and Empty Promises" though, so I would've seen it coming. I mean it literally shut down out of nowhere. One day I'm playing in the beta, awaiting the release, the next day I'm reading some retarded letter from the design lead, telling me the game I was playing yesterday now ceases to exist. I was pretty upset that day. If anyone is looking to write a paper on the biggest MMO disasters ever, this one would be in the top five.

Yeah I asked a friend of a friend today who works at Best Buy if anyone there knew or cared about those still being on the shelf.  He said he knew but it wasn't his duty to stock the shelves so he doesn't worry about it.  Ah to be young and working someplace you could care less about.

Played the beta.. Although pretty boring..

This game had some of the best combat animations I've ever seen. I liked that approach.
