Will groups have a WoW type format?

By this I mean a tank, healer and 3xDPS... or will they be more forgiving in the requirements?

I was thinking of rolling a rogue archetype but if tanks are required in every group, and there's always a shortage, I may roll a soldier instead.

Very few of the classes fit well at all into the classic trinity roles, so it would be rather difficult to be set up that way yes.

I'm not sure but because it would be, either, open beta or launch, pick your favorite and start with that.

All classes are hybrids in the game, including the soldiers. Any soldier can go frenzy mode when not tanking and become a dps machine. Healers can start casting offensively when not healing, some are even enhance their heals by attacks. It plays a bit differently than the usual holy trinity with some extra twists. Like, even if a mob aggros you and you're a healer, the others can still block him from coming to you in a narrow corridor due to the collision detection active.

Generally it's best to roll what you enjoy the most. It pays off better in the long run.
