Just curious, what is it about AoC that makes you want to try it out and why?
For me it's several things, spellweaving is the first thing that caught my eye. The concept that I can weave multiple spells together for a BIG spell is a new and pretty damn cool concept. I read somewhere that multiple people can work on one spellweave together to make a what sounds like a nightmare of a nuke spell!
The second thing that caught my eye and made me want to play is the concept of dying and being sent to hell. Having to fight my way out of hell to continue playing, how cool is that?!? Hopefully it will limit the whole zerg rush fighting style. Who wants to blindly rush in when doing so might mean a side trip out of the fight for an unknown amount of time?
Last but not least, the stygians just sound cool all the way around!
We're all mad here. I'm mad. You're mad.
Comments
1. The class grow system.
2. This " new " combat system.
3. To see if this upen pvp, will end up as the old shadowbane , that what the restarted shadowbane are.
or if one will be able to get around solo, cland and grp, As they say you will.
4. The pvp system.
5. The reward system.
6. And i pray to that is have it all, and i can forget WH/DAOC system, and stay in AOC.
Hey sorry to break this up, but im afraid going to hell isn't implemented anymore i think, not at launch anyway, 'cause players found that kinda "un"cool. Imagine u die in a raid and have to fight ur way in hell to come back to life lol anyway this might be cool in theory but its annoying in practice (according to Funcom and some gamers at least).
Yea spellweaving is pretty cool but the thing i'm looking forward to the most is playing real-time combat in an MMO. I rlly hope the gameplay is smooth, cause IMO gameplay is make or break in an MMO especially when combat is such an important part of the game.
I want to stand guard on a battlekeep wall, looking out for opposing guild members trying to pitch a War Tent, at 3am on my day off chatting to 3 or 4 night-owl guidmates as they run around our city or our battlekeep doing their crafting or resource gathering. I'll probably be drinking a cold soda, and half-watching a Futurama DVD. My eyes will be watery, I'll be yawning, and my character will probably be doing a lot of jumping and spinning in place, with the occasional playful arrow shot near or at my guild-mates below as they run in and out of the keep.
I miss this kind of stuff. The closest I come to social gaming now are the foul mouth 15 and 16 year olds playing CoD4.
Well not much unique with the game, more than boobies and gore. But I'll will give it an try and write a review.

The leet graphics that'll make me run at like 8 FPS cuz i don't have a $2000 computer!!
Err I mean the combat is the only thing that I'm looking forward to, though it looks good in the vids I'm not sure it'll work so well in practice. *shrug*

A human and an Elf get captured by Skaven. The rat-men are getting ready to shoot the first hostage with Dwarf-made guns when he yells, "Earthquake!" The naturally nervous Skaven run and hide from the imaginary threat. He escapes. The Skaven regroup and bring out the Elf. Being very smart, the Elf has figured out what to do. When the Skaven get ready to shoot, the Elf, in order to scare them, yells, "Fire!"
Order of the White Border.
The deep character customization.
Why?
I'd like to see my "real" alter ego online. Nothing else would get me more engrossed right now, from the get-go.
combat
grafix :P
pvp/seige
leather map
bioware style quests and dialog
fatalities
just simply experiencing a new innovative mmo that will hold my attention for a while because I'm bored with all current mmo's and not playing anything
o yea and boobies j/k lol
btw anyone else notice theres been alot less trolling in here the past few days?
Yea it's one of the most peaceful periods for these poor forums lol... but they'll come back sure enough. btw i'm also excited about the destiny quest and 1rst 20lvls tbh.. eventhough some people are already discarding these lvls by saying its a waste of time etc..
That is quite possibly the worst news i've heard. One of the things i've disliked is the concept that character death is often regarded as a quick heal/ fast transport/joke in most games. Of course you don't want it to be game breaking (losing all the xp/items you gained in the last hour or losing all your gear). i thought the concept of fighting your way out of hell to be a novel concept. It actually made me want to play the game MORE! I freely admit I was hoping for some damn cool pvp or pve action in that setting!
Seriously, I hope they decide to put that back in. No more zerg rushing. No more charging blindly because death is nothing but quick heal/fast transport.
We're all mad here. I'm mad. You're mad.
Caster casts a spell.
Caster botches the spell.
Caster dies and goes to hell.
Group waits for X amount of time for player to return from hell.
Group is having a blast waiting for the Caster to return (or are they?).
Caster casts a spell.
Caster botches the spell yet again.
Caster is kicked from the team and a more reliable member is invited.
Sounded like fun on paper. Terrible idea on execution.
The first MMORPG I got really hooked on was WoW. A friend introduced me to it (bought me the box for my B-day). Before I knew it I was playing 5+ hours a day. Sometimes 19 hours on a day off. But a year ago I simply got tired of the game. I have tried almost all of the MMO's listed by this website, but none of them could really capture me or put me in 'addictive mode'. I really feel like AoC will be the game that will be able to make me an addict again. It might sound like I'm a no-lifer but I really missed the feeling. Plus I now have too much time on my hands and NO I don't feel like picking up a hobby, hehe.
So what am I looking forward in AoC the most? I listed a couple of things:
1. Guild Cities: Being able to create your own city with a group of friends just sounds awesome. Everyone on Ventrillo and just hanging out casually killing some NPC attackers or just drinking beer telling stories in the City Tavern. I now realise what I missed the most after leaving WoW: the community and the friends I made. So I'm looking forward to playing with my Guild creating some nice memories.
2. Of course the new combat system: I'm a person who thinks skill should define a good player and not gear. I especially like the fact (this has been confirmed in one of the interviews) that a group of 5 people who are skilled can defeat a group of 8 to 10 people with less skill. I realise this is all promotional talk and we'll have to see how much skill will matter and gear won't.
3. The realism of AoC: I like things to be as close to reality as possible. I simply dislike the Orcs and the Elves because my mind just keeps telling me "It's completely fake! Elves DO NOT EXIST!" So yeah the realism in AoC does a lot for me.
4. The PvP Sieges: Assuming (!) they will pull off the giantic battles I will be most impressed. Simply because I have never seen a game with battles of that size. Also, because of the combat system it will not be a ZAP and DIE fest like in WoW (for example a Rogue 1-hitting a Mage), but a more 1 on 1 battle that can take at least more than 5-10 seconds. I feel that the battle will strongly resemble battles you see in Braveheart for example and that's just plain awesome.
5. The Mounts: Again the realism plays an important role. Camels, Horses, Rhinos and Mammoths: they all existed at some point in time or still do. It's so different from the Mounts you see in for example WoW. This really appeals to me. Plus I like the size of the mounts. A Mammoth for example; it might be the biggest mount I've ever been on (once I've gotten to ride it ofcourse).
To conclude this rant I would like to state that all of the above is purely my view on the game. Nothing of it should be taken as an insult or whatever. I was just trying to let out my personal hype for AoC and I hope someone had fun reading it.
I would have to say, my gf and I are very interested in having a city to fight for again. We miss for example when player bases mattered in SWG and people would come to your player city to help defend/attack. We know the system in place in AoC isn't exactly the same, but it's just having something valid to fight for. That's probably what's drawing us in the most.
Oh I forgot to mention that she is very interested in being able to run around scantilly clad trying to chop peoples heads off. Win or lose it's still all about having fun.
Guild controlled cities to manage and fight over.
Basically...meaningful PvP.
The next delay
Yea its been quiet here and over on the WAR forums (they are all prolly on spring break). To stay on topic, I look forward to the new combat system and the opportunity to constantly quote cheesy lines from the Arnold Conan movies.
MMO Vet since AOL Neverwinter Nights circa 1992. My MMO beat up your MMO. =S
I'd have to say the Ip's lore, hands on combat system, DX10 graphics and the M rating, in that order.
I can still remember the feeling that I should hide my Dark Horse comics from my mother. I was under 10yrs old at the time. There discovery, 'might've' affected my allowance for more comics and quarter eater games at the arcade. In short, at that age my world would've ended. ../kickksand

I am really seeking exploration o Hyboria, that and the class development
Im really excited about a fall release.
MAGA
Looking forward to the game going GOLD in one weeks time.

Anyhow, the graphics sure looks good on screens and vids.

I am most looking forward to the size and broad range of new places to go and weapons to use!
Fucom has done so much to increase the size and special effects! I cant wait!!!!!

Ok..I don't really plan on playing AOC...but quoting cheesy Arnold lines from teh movie would almost be funny enough to go buy the box...

Are you for real? And this right after you went to the trouble of posting dictionary definitions of "Trolling" and New Scientist quotes about its psychological roots over on the Darkfall forum, yet here you are. Seggallion, you're a joke.
Mostly I'm looking forward to the genre coming to life. The art direction looks superb, the open PvP servers will be filled with fear and carnage just as it should be. And finally an MMO that requires a little combat interaction, skill and tactics, not just the good ol' 1-2-3 fandango. Just hope they can optimize it enough to run smoothly, nothing will kill a twitch-based melee-range MMO faster than hitching and lag.
