Pre-Order is store question

MastCrasherMastCrasher Member UncommonPosts: 6

I pre-ordered both Warhammer and Age of Conan that day and I had to ask for the little paper they give you with the keys on it for pre-ordering.

When I asked for Age of Conan, he didn't have any and he was basically clueless and didn't know what to do.  So if I was to pre-order at Gamestop, should I have gotten a key? Maybe a 3-day ahead play time?

They're supposed to contact us but I'd try contacting them once again at the end of April.  If not wait to May12-14 then start demanding answers.

No, there isn't a Gamestop on planet that is giving the AoC rave cards out yet with the pre-order codes. The general feeling is that no store knows when they will get said rave cards, and my local store manager just said to start calling the store each day "closer to the launch date". I replied, I'll start calling every day starting May 1, 2008. He said that would be a good time to start.

Got some information from the store I pre-ordered the game today about how the pre-ordering works out. (europe)

On a later stage you will recieve a pre-order code. Then you can download the pre-release game (15gb) 6 days before the launch but you can only play it 3 days before launch. This version will not work after release so you have to install the game with the dvd that will be sent too you on release day. You will also have the characters you play with on the release day.

Also Funcom will take 40 norwegian Kroner (around 7 dollars, might be cheaper for US based ppl) for the download of the  pre-release version which you pay via creditcard, but you will recieve 10 days of gametime so it will basiacially  even out.

Hopefully this information is helpful for some of you out there.

Thanks for the information. I do have 1 question tho'. You mentioned paying the download fee with a creditcard, but I don't have one. Does anyone know if I can pay through iDeal or ClicktoBuy (using an e-dentifier)? Otherwise I'd be royally shafted.

if you order from GoGamer they deduct the Funcom fee  (regardless of whether you do early access)

    www.gogamer.com/viewproduct.htm

3 Day Early Access Period from FunCom and Eidos

You may begin downloading the game client software and installing as early as May 14. Then you may create a character and begin playing on May 17, 3 days before commercial release on May 20, 2008. You may play for 7 days after release while you wait for your retail box to arrive.

Your character and all progress will be preserved into commercial release. There is a nominal fee of $5 that covers the cost of the download and includes the 10 days of the Early Access game time. This fee is charged by FunCom and is not included in your GoGamer price. However, we have reduced our price by $5 to help you afford that fee.

We will email you a key code prior to May 17th that you may use to help unlock the Early Access program. The $5 FunCom fee still applies even with the key code.

We will provide details on where to download the client in our email

  • MastCrasherMastCrasher Member UncommonPosts: 6

Wow, I can't believe you'd have to pay an extra $5 to download the client that you'd have to uninstall once you get your game.

Ohh well, no problems here, just more money to spend.  Thanks for the help everyone.

anyone know how to access the early entry and such when you bought the pre order CE from Wal Mart?

  • Spriggan05Spriggan05 Member Posts: 63

For the people in the UK (and Europe?) Play.com has a good deal on the pre-order, You get the 3days early play, Exclusive In-Game War Rhino Mount and 8 additional inv slots. The picturethey have of the Rhino is pritty generic but it will be cool to see how it turns out.

Yeah, sucks that they (FC) have to pay for the bandwidth we use to download the game early. It'd be nice if their provider didn't charge them for the usage so they in turn didn't have to charge us.

Am I blind or I misreading something? Doesn't that link basically says that you gain an additional 10 days of game time besides the early access to the servers? Isn't 10 days 1/3 of a month and isn't $5 1/3 of the monthly subscription?

Please do not point out logical facts in statements like this

    - it ruins the whiners and trolls efforts to point out the major injustice of paying 5 dollars for a huge download after all ISP's let Funcom use their services for free - and yes you do get an additional 10 days of playtime for that 5 dollars which you are correct is 1/3 of the 15 dollar monthly fee but again this logical and straightforward point is not allowed to be brought up by the crybaby coalition

And you are assuming they actually read the statement which is entirely not fair and they should be allowed to have knee jerk , whining reactions from reading only the parts they want to

I mean really Xas what are you trying to do here
