Verry poorly handled CE preorder from gamestop.

On the 27th I went to our local gamestop as its the only gamestore in my area and I like the way they run pre-orders. Kinda like a layaway. Unfortunatly I dont have the $80 to drop on the CE right away or I would be canceling all of my pre-orders with them and do my shopping exclusevly online.
As I said I went in on the 27th to pre-order the CE. Did all the crap that goes with it and when I asked where my codes for the open beta, early access ect where the guy had no clue what I was talking about. He looked around and didnt find anything and said "I'm sure I will get them sometime this week, stop by monday". I thought ok, no biggy so long as I get the codes. So I stop in yesterday and still, no codes. He called someone in the corprate office and guess what..........they have no more codes to hand out! While they are talking I hear the guy say "Hey if you got extra codes I need them, this customer ordered the CE". To make a long story/rant short, he wrote down an open beta code for me and told me to come back tomorrow (which is now today) to get the other codes since they where being sent in an email. Cool, they are trying to make things right.........or so I thought. When I got home yesterday and put in the Open beta code guess what I got? Invalid code. Tried it again, same thing.
I am a verry unhappy customer and I partially blame how Mythic handled this but most of the blame goes on Gamestop. I am in limbo on if I am still going to get the CE or cancel it and just pre-order a regular copy from amazon or something similar. If I had the money I would happily try to find a CE online. Needless to say whatever I do, gamestop will not be getting anymore of my money after this little fiasco. I plan on going in today, getting the other codes (just incase they work) and giving them a piece of my mind, even if I dont cancel my CE there.
I have made many, many purchases from gamestop. Many thousands of dollars probably with everything totaled but this one, bad incident is enough to make me find somewhere else to spend my money. Unfortunatly this really put a damper on how much I am looking forward to WAR and the saddest part is its really not Mythics fault.

there open beta codes open beta isnt here yet for war ther enot closed beta codes you have to wait until open beta starts until then the code is invalid. they better not jack up my metal gear solid 4 closed beta stuff but stores should have them this week
first off...putting an Open Beta code into the closed beta application is most likely going to do you no good. There won't even be an open beta until close to the game releasing.
Second...game stop jacked up big time on this. I have heard many people complain about it.
Amazon seems to be handling things the best. All the people from my guild that ordered through amazon have their codes already.
Amazon is working superb with the handling the CE codes. Got all 3 of my codes within 2 minutes yesterday
Also on a side note, Amazon does not charge your card/account/you for a pre-order until its about ready to ship so they don't take anything and keep hold of it, leaving you time to cancel the pre-order at any time.

I order from one...called a family to check there gamestop and they had some....usually if your in a big city the managers told them to hand them out with every preorder not just CE.... The bad part is the employees act like they have never heard of such thing. I will never shop at a gamestop agian after this bs, this isn't the first nor will it be the last.
Oh and the codes do work.... Rumor is open beta is to start anytime from now till summer. Not only this but the sheet they give you also has the codes to get your items ingame and early access so they aren't just screwing up your open beta but the whole thing in general.
Retail stores fuck up all the time. It's almost always the managers fault. Just keep on bugging them about it and eventually you will get what you paid for.
Also, I ordered it from amazon.com on the 26th. The first 30 minutes, the warhammer website would not take my code. After several tries, it took the code. WEIRD. I know i was not making an error because i was cutting and pasting the code directly from the amazon page. So, just keep trying and maybe it will work.
Maybe I didnt read right and if I didnt please tell me but when I went to the CE site mythic set up it told me to go to my beta center account and enter the code under the promo code section. The early access and Item codes where not being accepted yet because the actual game account site is not set up yet. That is what I did. Did I miss understand something?

By the directions there, it seems to me your code should be working.
Though, I wouldn't know about that.
I placed an online pre-order with EBGames.com and have yet to receive my Open Beta code. I received my order confirmation e-mail, but it is merely a receipt. I've emailed their help center and am still awaiting a response.
A good amount of the reason I pre-ordered was on the promise that I'd be getting beta access. I hope they deliver on the promise.
Did you make sure and put the - in the code as well? I didn't at first and I got an invalid code message. Wouldn't hurt to try.
Travold, where is the dash located on your code? The code I got was hand written (he got it over the phone) and it did not have a - written in there, that may verry well be the problem.

That is because Amazon is sold out of the CE's, and the one listed for $179 is a 3rd party called Black Sheep thats trying to resell their copy. There were only 60,000 CEs available so if you didn't jump on it when first avail ur outa luck.The only way to get one now will most likely be ebay for 2x - 3x the retail price! Or if any other store has some still available. I'll bet that Mythic with announce in the next few days that they're all gone.

Tarvold, you are my heroNeedless to say I am still not happy with the way my situation went/has gone with gamestop but with amazon being out of coppies I was SOL untill you figured out the problem

I dont know if EB and Gamestop are the same company (and I obviously wouldnt reccomend gamestop since my local one had to call the HQ to get me my code) but gamestop runs it like a layaway, costs you 5$ down to reserve your copy and then you can pay 1 dollar a week if you want or wait untill it shows up in the store (or mailed to you) and pay the balance.
Maybe you could call or email EB though and ask them. Also bestbuy may have some left you would have to check there website.

Yeah they are, Gamestop bought out EB Games a few yrs ago, but its taking them forever to change all the signs over. It took them 2 yrs to change the EB sign at my local mall, even though there are literally 7 more Gamestop stores within 10 miles around that one that were recently opened!

Looks like someone must've cancelled their pre-order! There is 1 avail on Amazon, by amazon atm under the new/used section aside from the Black Sheep one!

Just and FYI to the OP and the fist few replies:
I got my preorder through Amazon and got my beta code, entered it into the site and it accepted it 100%. Closed beta app has no bearing on the code, my beta center now shows Amazone CE preoder under status. So, the op's concerns are valid.

OP Online Stores do not charge you for pre ordering a game via the internet, they do not charge you until the game ships. Its part of every online store's pre order policy.
If your not able to get one online via amazon or instore via gamestop look at Best Buy (if they got their crap working) or Walmart, there's also 2 other retailers listed on the main warhammeronline site. Walmart is NOT listed on Warhammeronline.com's website but they are selling the CE and sometime by May you get the Rave Card. Essentially walmart pre orders are eastore.com pre orders.
If you really want the collector's edition don't poke around hoping they get you your keys and call Gamestop on your own alot because THEY screwed up. You can't fault mythic for this one Mark Jacobs has expressed his dismay over this several times and has been looking into things since it started happening. Every Collector's edition is supposed to get the codes. Only 60k codes in the exist in the US. Gamestop fucked themselves by giving out bunches and bunches of those codes several days early to people pre ordering the Normal Edition.
