Gosh, i remember when my friend recommended this game to me when i had a craze for diablo 2, boy was he right that it was epic, back then when i was a kid i made my first character ((A barbarian warrior )) Just like the barbarian on Diablo 2. I was overwhelmed, surprised, but yet intrugued at the content, graphics, and just the essence of the game, it made me feel rather happy when i was a kid going in the water and listening the water's music play. The music was my favorite of all things, it had a great tinge of happyness in it. I still remember it to this day. EQ will always be in my heart no matter what, but these days EQ is not worth it anymore..
Gowsh i still remember going to get bear hides and craft my own leather armor..and selling meat and stuff and pretending that im a hunter for the tribe.
Another good memory is making my first woof elf and ending up nearly blind and falling off the treetops to my death. i was like "how the fuck does that happen??"
Well i have posted my favorite memories, it is time for yours.

My most favorite memory of EQ was Ultima Online
Don't confuse a players ability, with a class being Over Powered.

My favorite memory of EQ was how the idiots at Orgin use to spam the EQ forums with please come back emails.

I agree Crushbone had to be one of the most fun zones in the whole game
I agree Crushbone had to be one of the most fun zones in the whole game
My only regret is that I didn't play much in here, I outlevel it. Velketor Labyrinth and Sebilis where a little like it, but...not exactly. LDoN was awesome as well, but nothing like Crushbone, completely different and alien, but awesome.

I think my favorite memories come from my first character- a gnome wizard. Not knowing the landscape and not having an online resource like EQAtlas (yet) made the world seem so vast. Getting through the Lesser Faydark to Kelethin and Crushbone and eventually making my way through the dwarf-lands to the boat... only to be whisked away to another unknown land- the deserts around Freeport.
And that was only half the continent.
"BOAT!"

Ohh i rememberd a good memory, everyone remember the tree stump onb the left side of the qeynos/blackburrow zone entrance, when i went through it i fell down to this small cave surrounded by gnolls and ended up gatting gangbanged in seconds and died "NOOOOOO!"
I remember losing my corpse in Qeynos Sewers when I was like level 5. That was fun, running around and bumping into some level 40 spectres, and then another corpse run and me and my cousin would find something different.
The very first time I logged in... a wood elf paladin. Up on some treetop somewhere and I could not for the life of me find a way down.
Jumped to my death 3 times before I noticed the rope bridge as I fell to my death for the third time.
lol, same thing happened to me, and i never found my many corpses that lie beneath Kelethin. Actually lost my citizenship note and wasnt able to do the quests. back then just getting to lvl 12 was an entire adventure. i took the boat to freeport, and that was an incredible journey. i had to cancel my sub around then due to computer hardware issues, but picked the game up again after Shadows of Luclin came out and made a Vah Shir Beastlord. I enjoyed the game alot more because i got alot of my RL friends into it, which made the game 100 times better.
Well met.
I played on the FV server and it was a great place, Many a happy time and friends as well.
I thank the heavens for the great memories. yes i miss Everquest and the joy it gave me.
To many things to list i would be here for months.
My favorite were the Splitpaws in South Karana. Don't know why but it was fun.
etting a bunch of Dark Elves together and killing guards in Highpass
Blackburrow!
Here is my list of favorite memories from EQ that I still like to talk about with my MMO buddies (incidentally most of these moments are all pre-expansions, when the game took real skill to play):
6. The introduction of the spell "GROW". I remember when the spell was first introduced and it was bugged to hell. In the beginning you used to be able to cast it twice on players to get them to grow. In the beginning, there was no maximum size restriction for the large races. As an Ogre Shaman I used to be able to Grow myself to almost the size of a hill giant. It was great to sit at one of the zone lines that was barely more than a path wide and wait for player trains running to zone. My Ogre Shaman was so big that players fleeing to the zone line could not get past my bulkiness. My character had no agro so I was safe for the most part. I loved being evil in those days.... Unfortunately the Grow spell was fixed very shortly thereafter but that was a great 2 weeks of evil playing
5. Mask of the Deception - that wonderful no drop item from Lower Guk that could turn anyone into a dark elf. If anyone remembers the mask it would turn your character into a dark elf in proportion to the size of your character. My first character was an ogre shaman which made one hell of a large dark elf Now only bards and rogues can use it but those of us that still have it are truly old-school.
4. Trying to survive a run through Highpass Hold. In the 'old school' days before twinking, the best gear you would have around lvl 10-15 would be rusty weapons that could not put a dent into the gnolls. Compound that with the fact that the whole zone was like a giant maze and the fact that I was an ogre running through human territory and it made for some amazing fun.
3. East Commons Trade Tunnel - absolutely the best example anywhere of what a group of players can bring to a game. The tunnel was transformed into a one-stop shop that added so much to the game. You could wheel and deal with the sellers because they were (mostly) sitting at their computers and shouting out their wares so you had someone live to interact with. The Bazaar completely destroyed the haggle and barter system that the players had created and in my opinion 75% of the in-game community died the day Lucin was released
2. Camping spawns for gear. Sure, spawn camping has been given a bad rep but anyone who can remember that far back must remember the great interactions that were had with the group of perfect strangers who were vying for the same spawn that you were. There was honor back in those days. True campers would maintain lists with players names so you could send tells when you were done with the area. There was very rarely (like never) kill stealing, ninja looting and the like (on E.Marr server at least). I can remember camping Upper Guk for a Ghoulbane paladin sword. I camped it for 17 hours straight and had no luck. The guy who took the camp after me started talking to me for a good while. The next day, my fellow camper sent me a tell saying that the Shin Lord spawned twice in a row and that a Ghoulbane was rotting on the corpse. He held the corpse for me until i got there and looted it. That was back in 1999 and the camper and myself have become RL friends and followed each other through countless MMOs since then.
1. My all-time favorite EQ (pre-expansion) memory was from the Plane of Fear. On my server we were the first (maybe second) guild to hit PoF. Just zoning in was usually a 2 hour clean-up mess just to get everyone into the zone alive. We were pretty good at clearing Fear by the time the expansions started rolling out but my greatest HATETHISGAMENEVERGONNAPLAYAGAIN moment was our very first Fear break. We had the typical zone in and wipe but being the first (or second) guild ever there meant we had no strategy advice to follow online. No guides, maps, forums or anything. Our first Fear attempt took 26 HOURS to clean up. We licked our wounds and prevailed eventually but that one moment made me ready to cancel my account the next day but 9 years later I can see the humor in it now.
Let the fanbois say what they will about WoW but it had nothing when compared to EverCrack.

Having started my first character in Qeynos my memories are mostly of Blackburrow and the karana's.
1. Fippy Darkpaw - Every 5 minutes in the newbie zone "You humans have ruined....."
2. Blackburrow - most qeynos character's first dungeon, lots of friends made thre.
3. Making the trip from Qeynos to Freeport ....naked.
4. First encounter with a griffawn, white con, hmm there's a couple of us, we can take it. Thats where I found out that without a magic weapon you better run.
5. After above experence....Saving the 20 plat for a combine longsword just to be able to kill wisps and griffawns.
6. Getting my first suit of Banded mail from the master smith in my guild.
Just remembered two more...
Seeing the wooden/chain bridge in the Karana's for the first time, very awe inspiring.
Getting to level 20 and /petiton for a GM to grant my last name
Man, so many great memories. Some of my favorites.
I used to play with a bunch of my buddies. Another one of our friends decided to join. On his first day he was in the commons. He came up over a hill and saw a camp. He decided he need to sell his gear to make room in his inventory. He ran right into the orc camp. Next thing I know I hear him yelling in the zone, "I went to the camp to sell my stuff and I got killed by some green guys." I still give him crap about that.
I loved sitting on the spires in Oasis watching Lockjaw shred all the new players.
The first day I played and needed to go afk, I thought I'd sit in one of the huts in the commons thinking I'd be safe. While I was away I heard wings flapping and then my character was dead. I was so new I never found my corpse.
The tunnel in the commons, as other have said. Was a great place to just hang out too.
The day I found out I didn't have to play the game in that little window with all the buttons around it.
The first time I took a level one dark elf warrior to qeynos and got my faction high enough to go into surefall. A minor thing, but back then I was proud.
We can't forget Dorn.
I almost forgot a good one. I remember when walking through kith at night was safe.
LOL! I remember buying a 2 combine scimitars on my ranger to kill wisp when I dinged 17. My brother and I went to OOT, and farmed the skellie/wisp isles for days. Man, those were truly the best days of EQ.
Rubicite, Ykesha, FBSS, and Glowing Black Orb.
