Hoping to get a decent sample and not just attract fanbois who clicks on everything with AoC in the name. Gonna try to keep this thread alive for atleast a day.
I don't know too much about AoC; I'm trying to avoid getting too hyped up on the game in case it sucks, but like most new MMO's I'll try it for at least the first month and if it's not horrendous, I'll play it at least 'til WAR comes out.
After years of trying to find my true virtual identity, I've decided to sell my soul to Mork and Gork!
I'm keeping one eye on Chronicles of Spellborn too, but I have a sneaking suspicion that this game will get delayed again. Delaying your game is the new black, it goes with everything! The Q2 release date doesn't look that great since we just entered Q2. I'd expect something a bit more concrete by now.
I'll check it out though probably not at launch which I suspect will be scary. I'm not really too optimistic about the game, actually, but I try out nearly everything, even if I've played in beta. I played the EQ2 beta and really didn't like the game. I gave it a go after those dramatic changes and played for a good while and enjoyed it. So you never know!
I will go for it only when i know the game is any good, i dont feel like wasting my money n time so ill just wait for reviews or even better a open beta for try before buy.
Strange, they posted it on April Fool's Day, when AoC specifically focuses on humans and no girly men. *shrug*
-------------------------------------- A human and an Elf get captured by Skaven. The rat-men are getting ready to shoot the first hostage with Dwarf-made guns when he yells, "Earthquake!" The naturally nervous Skaven run and hide from the imaginary threat. He escapes. The Skaven regroup and bring out the Elf. Being very smart, the Elf has figured out what to do. When the Skaven get ready to shoot, the Elf, in order to scare them, yells, "Fire!"
I tend to try any mmo coming out. I was going to play WAR for sure and thought since it got delayed why not pick up AOC. I now have decided i m sick of jumping games and will wait a long time after release to judge for myself. I don t like alot of things they re doing for me personally, so i have to wait a while to see. Trial etc would help. I can t see me picking it up at all tbh because when WAR comes out i ll be playing it instead, hands down no questions asked. I don t want to spend 4-8 months into something just to drop it which i will for WAR even if i like it. Make a long story short no not anywhere near release or ever.
I pre-ordered the CE-edition and I personally can't wait to start playing the game. It doesn't matter if it's CB, OB or the actual release as long as I can play. I simply have been waiting for too long and the sooner I can play, the better.

I believe TCOS was delayed initially because of engine changes (they went from Torque to Unreal I believe...). Since then, I haven't heard of any new changes, plus they've increased staff size and had the network architecture (host and client sides) settled for about a year now. Everything else has been more or less a finalization of zones. An example of this is Slywood, which they're touting as one of their high end zones/shards for players to explore, so I suspect the bulk of their world is done, the rest is polish and rebalance where needed. So, the Q2 date I believe is solid, but the publisher in the US isn't solid (which only delays boxed release here, but not in the EU from my understanding of what little they wish to divulge on that matter).
Do you guys think WAR will meet the release date this time? Funcom has said that the game is launching in May for sure, but WAR isn't operating with any concrete dates yet.
I am going to give it shot. I honestly have nothing to lose. I am currently not playing any MMO right now, I was playing WoW for along time but I gave it up 3 months ago again for the third time in my life this time there is no going back, only forward. I have tried many many other mmo's out there and have high hopes for this one, because I am sick of not playing a damn game anymore. I do have down time and hope this feels that void.

WAR does not have a release date. WAR has an approximate time period for it's release. X/X/XX is a date. I think they'll meet it this time, but even if it gets pushed to 2009, I'll still play it when it comes out.

Hard to say if WAR sticks to it. I ll be honest with the recent reviews i ve read on it and still alot of time to go i say yes, but if it takes longer i m not too worried i want it to be as close to perfect as possible. All reviewers i ve seen so far say it s playable now, in great shape etc. So if they re adding 4-6 more months i ll say it will be good and thats all that matters to me. Delays suck yes but if the product is better because of it i can wait more.
Gonna let this thread die now. A MOD moved it into the AoC section of the forums. Anyone visiting this section of the forum is obviously either very interested or has already decided to play the game so the poll will be heavily biased and pointless. Thanks to everyone who voted!

I'll play this on the side. I mean, I'll give it an honest try, but from what I can tell early on... probably not going to be something I'd play long-term.

As it looks now, i will try AoC. Its the only MMO to have a release date in a near future. Oterwise, Chronicles of Spellborn.
I'll wait til after release to decide if I'll be playing it or not.
maybe in June or July after intial bug fixes and non NDA reviews
Well I was going to play WAR since it has elves and I'm into girlish men. but now...

Nonsense, this thread is right where it needs to be
If you really didn't want bias you should have posted it on Warhammer or something
Another great choice would be the off topic forums I suppose, they'd probably leave you alone there.
Guess I'd better stay on topic, yeah, I'm going to play in May, not much else out there atm.
