I think the servers are pretty well populated across the board. Only playing Ghallanda I can't say first hand of the others.

    Advice:

Also note, you can multi class with up to 3 different classes in the same character.  The game is loot based so you'll likely carry a few swords for different occasions.  Most item effects do not stack.  Potions of cure light wounds are worth it, but a cleric *might* do a good job on their own.

Be sure to let the groups you're in know you are new to DDO.  Otherwise it might be assumed you already know the dungoens which could cause everyone to "zerg" ahead leaving you to get lost.  If you create an Looking For More (lfm) in the group window you would also benefit from listing "New player to DDO" since you'll be bound to have people help you become more familar with the game environments.

    also:

28 point builds are the default character system.  Basicially, you have 28 points to put into the character upon creation.  Favor is gained from completing dungeons and when you've gained enough favor you will not only unlock the ability to create a Drow race character but later you'll be creating 32 point biulds.  The real kicker is, those 4 points don't mean squat in true effectiveness of the character.  Don't grind favor thikning you MUST have a 32 point build since the difference is vastly overrated. Even then, you'e not getting 4 extra points directly to your attributes anyways since it's based on a cost format with higher stats costing more.

The best thing about favor is it opens up NPC's which will sell you items or provide services/buffs for you.

DDO shines above the rest of the market due to its dynamics and superbly directed dungeon experiance.  It can be challenging yet the reward usually matches.

My advice... If you end up enjoying the game and decide to subscribe get yourself a muckbane. Get a group or join one and do Durk's Got A Secret till Muck spawns and drops you a muckbane. That little weapon goes a long way in the game against blobs and saving you from wrecking your weapons.

It is a random drop from a random spawn. So, sadly you will probably have to do it a few times.

The Rogue is a lot of fun, but do a little research on the class you wanna play. The default builds may not be suited to what your playstyle may be.

    Dissagree completely.

    Why?

Because it is very rare for muck to both spawn AND give you a muckbane.  If you get one then great, but if you don't it's not worth worrying over.  There are plenty of other 'oooze bane' items in the game and failing that you can always buy muckbane off the auction house if you become desperate.  Most folks carry around a standard ol' club to smack slimes with if they don't get a muckbane... or just get a set of returning throwing hammers to toss at slimes when they pop their ugly lil' heads up:  Hint: ranged weapons do not take damage from attacking a slime/ooze.

Muckbane is nice but it's hardly a 'must have' item.... tbh there really isn't any 'must have' item in the game.  Sure some are nice to have and make life a bit easier... but there are plenty of alternatives that you don't have to slave yourself and obsessively try to get "that 1 item".  This isn't Everquest/WoW... live outside the  box a little and reap the rewards.

Not to mention, until you get a decent ooze weapon, 1cp clubs or even fists are viable alternatives.

Another [almost] "must have" item is a proof vs poison item - either a ring or necklace or something else wearable that keeps you from being poisoned.  It is not essential at level 1-2 where you will only meet 1-2 trogs, but it is necessary at levels 3-5 where you fight trogs and spiders/scorpians quite frequently.  It is not uncommon to find one of these items on the auction house, though you may need to look for about a week [depending on your play style that may be perfect timing :)]  The prices are usually pretty reasonable also as each character only ever needs one of them.  This is NOT needed if you are a Warforged character [nor is the "Die Hard" feat - though it still allows you to take that feat]  Die Hard feat is another [almost] must have for a soloing character - gives you an extra 10 hps before failure. :)

I've seen proof agasint poision items in the general vendors.  I believe the vendors are currently located in the Inn near Shan-ta-kor (sp).

Other advice, all the sparkly clickies and gems *ARE* worth picking up.  They will generate much needed gold for the lowly character.

Why did you have to crap all over this person's optimism?
