Considering how devolved the MMO community has become, is there really any game out there good enough to justify putting up with them?  obnoxious 12-year-olds playing solely for the boob shots.  uptight power-gamers interested only in getting to max level as quickly as possible and to hell with anyone else actually trying to just have fun with the game.  sniveling whiners that are always griping about this game feature/mechanic or that.  oh and lets not forget the never-ending stream of gold-spammers.  maybe i just don't like video games enough to suffer the overwhelming levels of douchebaggery, so no, i won't be playing this game.

It wont be out in May.

Oh, May is the month and of this year... count on it.

This one isn't on my list of must try games.

I'll probably pick up the next installment of Warcraft for my fantasy fix.

I might give it a trial a few years down the line when I am bored between games.

I'm intrested to see what kind of reviews it gets given all the hype, but I'm not overly excited by the theme.

Going to try it but i wont be pre ordering it now. From what I here this mite be the next Vanguard but I will judge for myself, and will give it a try.

Nah I've heard too many negatives from beta.  Doesn't sound like the game is ready for launch at all.

  • JirelJirel Member Posts: 90

Nope, not interested in blood and guts (blood splatter on the screen) and PvP.  But the rest of you'all that want to, have fun.

  • ExpezExpez Member Posts: 7

I wouldn't use beta leaks to judge a game tbh. First of all, you have no way of validating the information you're given so they could just be feeding you lies. Secondly a beta of a game doesn't really reflect how the game is going to end up at release. The graphics will be mostly the same of course and the feature list will probably be left mostly intact, but the implementation of these features are subject to change all the way to launch. In fact the most important aspect of beta isn't to identify bugs, but to make sure you have a fun game. It doesn't matter if you've squashed every single bug during beta if the game itself is shit. Funcom is using player feedback to make sure the game is fun, and that every feature is adding something to the gameplay. An example of this is formations. They weren't fun and were removed. Going to Hell when overdoing spellweaving didn't work out either and was removed. The combat system was too complex so Funcom delayed the game (probably not just because of the combat system though!) and revamped it to make it more intuitive and fun.

If they can't be trusted not to breach the NDA, why would you trust them to provide you with accurate, unbiased information?

Biggest thing holding me back from being excited and wanting to play is the system requirments. It's also the thing that will kill this game.I have a good comp dual core prdessor ,dual 7950Nvidia and 2 gigs of ram which are the rec specs which more than likely means i will have to run the game on low in order to do anything with a decent amount of people on screen.

  • nomadiannomadian Member Posts: 3,490

Not in May, in November or December. Game cheaper and would have sorted out any intial issues on release.

  • Joshua69Joshua69 Member UncommonPosts: 953

I would like to pre order. but, id rather wait to hear some reviews, just to be safe

  • BrenelaelBrenelael Member UncommonPosts: 3,821

I may give it a try if there is an OB or a free trial but I don't see me paying for it for several reasons. Everything I'm hearing coming out of the Beta so far indicates that it's nothing new and almost everything in the game has been done before and done better. This tells me that it will end up being another run of the mill class based quest grinder and all I have to say is no thanks I've played it 100 times before.

One of the biggest reasons is the game's biggest selling point, the M rating. I've played other MMO's with M ratings and even though you would think this would foster a more mature community it will have exactly the reverse affect. Every immature little 12-17 year old with access to mommy's credit card will be playing this game. If I really have a need for violence and bare breasts I'll go watch a horror movie or some porn where the breasts are at least real. The M rating will make sure that AoC will have one of the most immature and down right rude communities of any game out there so no thanks.

As I said I may try it if I can do it without investing any money up front but I don't see me playing this game for any length of time. This game would have to be something truly new and innovative to keep me interested for more than a week and from what I'm hearing so far out of the Beta its not looking like its going to be. Hell it doesn't even look like its going to be the same game they've been advertising on their website. If you're going to buy this game based on the feature list they have been advertising you're in for a shock and a complete letdown when this game releases. Who knows though, I could be wrong as I'm mostly going on second hand information but I really don't think I will be.

I'm not going to play AoC.

+ the setting would certainly interest me. I would also immediately know what to do if someone would ask me to craft a Conan game.

    - 3 races... what ? how can one possibly craft a Conan game and offer only 3 races ???

    - class limitations. OMG. They have only 3 races, and still not every race can play every class

    - weak roleplaying aspect, its more some kind of MMO egoshooter

    - extremely bloody fight animations

    - stupid ideas such as "solo missions at night, party missions at day"

    - bad reviews all over the place

  • tazarconantazarconan Member Posts: 1,013

Adamantine... I dont really understand why u frieked out about 3 races only? I ve seen mmo's with more than 3 races that really suck as games...

As for roleplaying aspects? If not  the mythical age of conan  as it is set in the conan universe ,what can be a beter setup for roleplay? ???

There you will have the oportunity to rp a deadly assasin and keep your attitude like him..yes its a brutal set up maybe but its not a childish world of warcraft gamew that gnomes jump like stupids all around...

And combat is far better than all other mmo's childish click n auto attack means better gameplay ...

There is for certain solomissions to do "daytime" aswell. What you are referring to is something slightly broken out of context isn't it.

Did a quick google doesn't seem to be bad reviews all over the place. Or are you meaning some underground special invite places that carries those reviews, doesn't really make it all over the place noe does it.

I'm so broke. I can't even pay attention.

I havent played any M rated MMO's but, alot of MMO's yes, and as far as having content that isnt new, I dont really care, as long as its fun and not buggy. but, I mainly wanted to say that the main thing so far I see that is setting AoC apart from alot of other MMO's, is the hype. there hasent been this much hype in an MMO sense WoW really...People who arent MMO'ers never even heard of Tabula Rasa, or Vanguard, but at work(i work at game stop), i get a decent amount of people who know about AoC who aerent in the MMO world

What you're saying is very true but over hyping a game can do a lot more harm than good in todays marketplace. A lot of MMO players have become jaded, myself included, because they have seen game after game not even come close to living up to its pre-release hype. AoC is going to be another of these over hyped games that won't come close to delivering which is actually too bad really as it may not be a bad game. It will however get a lot of bad reviews after it releases especially from gamers as they are going to have this image of what it's going to be before they even log in and it simply won't deliver on those expectations. Hype can be a good thing for a game unless it's taken to the extreme which is exactly what Funcom has done with AoC.

Edit: Now don't take my comments the wrong way either. I don't in any way think AoC will fail either. I do however think that the game won't be nearly as big as the hype would lead you to believe. I see AoC after a few months having at least 150k - 300k active subs which is by no means a failure but it's by no means a "WoW Killer" either.

During the first part of the game (20 Levels)  you can 'go to bed' and during the night it's a 'single player' experience, you 'go to bed' again to return to the multi-player bit again during the daytime.

    Agreed

However,  it is Cliche for a MMO to be a poor game at first release, its how they are two months after release...To many people judge right on release, and people looking to get into the game hear all this negative feed back and just dont bother...from what I have heard, dev's kept folks up to date pretty well, responding on forums and offering content news. I have high hopes, and it would just *** me off if they *** this up. they have the hype, a good franchise name. if this goes arry, i think i will lose faith in MMO's as I know it.....

Im going to wait about 2-3 months after it comes out to decide if I want to shell out my money to play it. It looks like a good mmorpg, but I just get a bad feeling about it for some reason. Aion is really the jewl I am waiting for, Did Korean closed Beta (It was hell to get into) and I really loved it To bad I didn't interact with any one....

Would I like to yes, but my PC is really starting to show its age and I have some home improvements to do before I can look at replacing my old beast.

So I will probally not be playing AoC until at least the fall. If it doesn't crash and burn :).

DOAC is still the MMO I judge other games by, My first and still my favorite.
