Re-review: Return to Cameltoe

Seeing that DAOC had an insurgence of old/new players, all touting the legendary RVR of Mythic, I decided to try it again.

Six years later, nothing has really changed.  Catacombs is barely metionable, as it lets you solo in even more boring areas than the regular world.  It would take you ages to solo to 50, so forget that.   I didn't stick around for grouping, but most people are already 50 anyway, and presumably all out on the RVR frontlines having a good time.

I had a mid twenties character on the game CD key I still kept (Didn't have my original), so played Catacombs on that just to see if leveling was fun or feasible.

RVR is the name of this game, and the stupid part is getting to 50 so that you can participate.  It's PVE is like playing shadowbane but without the huge xp bonuses that require very little time to level with a good group.  In other words it's PVE is horrible.

There's no one in the lower level battleground instances, so no breaks there either.  There *may* be tiers of battlegrounds somewhere, that are active on the classic servers, but I wasn't about to level a character all over again, just to find out if anything was going on in server "X".

It should be warned that DAOC is an Old School MMORPG, meaning that it's predecessor was the insane and retarded Everquest.  Back in these ancient, barbaric times, people would pay to be abused: Harsh Death penalties, XP and even LEVEL loss, impossible odds, impossible to beat creatures in low level zones, corpse runs to get your character's stuff back, gimping your character from the creation screen, no choosing where you resurrect, no being able to set your bind or "hearthstone" point, causing corpse runs from zones and zones away, no being able to SEE WHEN IT'S DARK IN THE GAME???, and the list goes on.

Undoubtedly not a game to solo in.  Rolling a new character for the heck of it was unheardof.

While Camel-toe doesn't have ALL of these downfalls, it still has MOST of the ones it started with, SIX YEARS AGO.   Have they made it easy to solo in? No. I don't think so.  Have they made it easy to group in?  No. Exactly the same.  Have they figured out that they should just focus on the RVR and remove the leveling/PVE part of the game?  They never will.  Figure it out, that is.

TLDR: Crap game unless you like the timewarp.  Takes WAY too long to get to any fun, & that's where all the groups are, out there having fun.  Soloing takes even longer, not really do-able.

*sigh* Just go back to WoW and be done with it. The only thing you talk about the only thing you seem to care about since you use the word in every sentence is "easy". You want everyhting "easy". No challenge, no game, no time.. It is clear you woud be happiest if you coud just make a lvl 50 character immediatly and go out to RvR. You know what that is called? FPS. Not RPG. Easy...

Its just sad that new games caters to people like you.. and not real people above 8 years old. The whiners win

It should be thrown with great force"

I wrote an article on the pros and Cons of DAOC. Take a Look HERE

In the end, DAOC is still one of the best PvP games released. Its had its issues, but in the end, I believe that its done well.
